Knope2012 reacted to PMartin37 in Maine man charged after traffic stop
Maybe not the last time you checked... But that's why the founding fathers allowed changes to be made in the constitution as society changes. And things have changed a little since the late 1700s with our society. I think for the protection of innocent people (for example children and those under the age of 18) I think that the way people obtain weapons needs some serious overhaul. Unfortunately, people can't rationally discuss ANY change without people getting hauty and thinking this means a ban. There needs to be nationwide tracking in real time to keep track of what's being sold and to whom. Also, the types of weapons should be restricted. Maybe a first time gun owner can purchase handguns. Then as they prove to be responsible owners (such as not committing mass murder) then they can rank up so to speak.
The idea that a person can make their first purchase of a weapon an AK-47 and buy limitless ammunition and not get a sideways glance is unacceptable.
And by the way, any one that is a law abiding citizen cares about the welfare of others that can't defend themselves - not just their constitutional rights above all else.

Gosh, I can't imagine there's a problem here. As long as he's a law abiding citizen, has all his permits, and is a loyal NRA card carrier..there's been no crime committed right?
I don't think there should be a gun ban per se...but we definitely need to check out who these "law abiding citizens" are a little more thoroughly. Just maybe..

No, it's not too quick. That very scenario has played out here many times. THIS poster seems the exception. I wish her luck.

It is best not to be so quick to judge without knowing all the facts and stick to the questions asked by the OP.

I admire the confidence he has in himself but this doesn't sound very feasible.

Let me get this straight. While having your vision distorted by some unknown gas, it being dark, and a man wearing black who is also in body armor, wearing a ballistic helmet and a gas mask, you think you would be in the right location to shoot him and disable/kill him, missing everyone else in the theater, and also be unharmed?
-
Knope2012 reacted to rocks in Another case of Gun Control -Backfiring.
What is a concealed weapon going to do against this? You gonna kill him by shooting him in the arm?
"he was dressed in black, outfitted in a gas mask, ballistic helmet, vest and leggings, black tactical gloves and protectors on his throat and groin. He was armed with an assault-style rifle, a shotgun and Glock handgun."

The gunman wouldn't have given a few thoughts, he was intent on killing people. You constantly bring up cases that bare no relevance on anything to back up your argument. Do I need to repeat this for you? It was dark, there was gas in the room so that people couldn't see. "he was dressed in black, outfitted in a gas mask, ballistic helmet, vest and leggings, black tactical gloves and protectors on his throat and groin. He was armed with an assault-style rifle, a shotgun and Glock handgun."
No concealed weapon would have helped. This is a stupid argument.

Were they dressed like Holmes? Did they use tear gas? You're good at comparing apples and oranges.

I keep hoping someone in that theatre will come out as having had a CCC, was indeed carrying, so this moronic 'just needed one person in there with a gun' nonsense will stop. It does not sound to me like this incident would have been helped at all by an in theatre exchange of gunfire.

Sounds to me like they have a loop-hope where they comply with state law by letting the person carry but they restrict the spirit of the law with limitations.
Yes private businesses can (and should) decide who packs on their property.

Knope2012 reacted to AmyWrites in 2012 re-authorization, Male VAWA, children VAWA
Your case is only atypical because people who file for VAWA tend to have much more evidence, and you know, RECENT abuse and so on, than you. Worst thing you've got is blackmailing which you can't prove and if you changed your number you'd get rid of it. Best thing you might have is some sort of medical report of your children's mental anguish over this. Read about other VAWA filers here....

Knope2012 reacted to JohnR! in Frustrated at this broken, broken system
For better or worse, the system is what it is.
I don't want to take your situation lightly, but fact is that the process takes time and you can't count on a y particular schedule. Plans can be rescheduled and tickets canbe changed, so just roll with punches and readjust your schedule to fit in with the process.
It is frustrating but if you give in to your anxiety it will only make matters worse, for it will not make it happen any faster.
Hang I there and in a few months it will all be over, for this leg of the journey.
Best of luck!

Knope2012 reacted to D N Medellin COL in Frustrated at this broken, broken system
IMHO the system is not broken rather you have people, such as your sister in law, who have committed fraud and got away with it, not to mention the other extreme end of the lax system with the terrorist on a visa, this should be the focus of your angst.
My hats off to the men and women in our government who have the training and sense to weed out this scum!
The saying is correct that "Patience is a virtue", a characteristic that is BROKEN and LOST in our society today!
Good luck to you both.

Knope2012 reacted to AnotherLostSoul in Expedite for Pregnancy in Pakistan?
@Kyda:
This is just a side note: as I was reading through the post it seems to me you are the one who "jumped" and became very rude to people who were trying to answer you. When they wrote "If you're a USC you can hop on a plane anytime and give birth to your kid in the US" they didn't mean to be rude. This is the immigration fact...the cold, icy truth. As far as immigration goes, this is THEIR attitude about this. If you are a US citizen you can always fly back home, and give birth to your kid if you want your kid to born in the U.S. You have nothing in your way to do that so. For this reason, USCIS will not expedite your husband's immigration procedure. He is not at risk from dying if you stay in Pakistan and give birth to your kid there. There is simply no reason you guys would have to expedite your husband's immigration process. People were not trying to be rude here, they just told you how USCIS views a situation that is similar to yours. I talked to my two best friends who are happen to be from Pakistan here in the US and they agreed and could not add any better ideas for your husband to expedite his process for immigration.
Good luck!

Knope2012 reacted to BethandBilly in Advice for voluntary deportation and divorce
SingleDad2usc, I fully understand ticket prices as I worked in the airline industry for many years, thanks very much.
Ok so you entered the US legally, but have remained illegally for years on the backs of your kids, only now after all these years are you trying for a GC. You do voluntary work, I get it you're a GOOD person
I think mate you need to be more caring, at least as much as you are expecting others to be of your situation, yes I've read it don't you worry.
JohnF, really think hard about your options, you leave your kids to the hands of Lord only knows and they may never forgive you, nor you forgive yourself.
Don't go the deportation route, biggest mistake you could make.
Good Luck!!

Knope2012 reacted to kennym in men i realized we all have one thing in common here
You maybe right, but either way, it's gonna get hot. But my personal opinion, is this guy is a reject, and figured he could land a hotie for the price of a plane ticket and the cost of K1 Petition.. What he doesn't realize, Ukrainian, Colombian, or wherever. these women arent stupid, they're hopful that they'll meet a decent guy.. But too often they find the guy isn't what he pretended to be, and wise up to the game..
This comment is indicative of either a real @$$ or someone trolling... But, I have to say, hopefully is simply a stupid joke, but if this characters for real, I feel sorry for his fiancee..

Knope2012 reacted to kennym in men i realized we all have one thing in common here
Not even funny... dude! In fact once of the stupidist comments from a grown-up, I've ever heard.. Are you a grown-up!
what in the world are you talking about? Seriously? Whats your point? Are you simply trying to start a fight or is there a particular reason you made this stupid comment? Because there are good people everywhere and there are bad everywhere.. And hate to tell you this, Ukraine is included in both categories.. This is not about hating anyone!!!
Is the truth that maybe you simply can't measure up?
What a ridiculous thing to say!!!
You think relationships are hard with American Women.. Ha! Just wait till you get your Ukrainian wife girlfreind here and she starts to see what kind of person you are to say nothing of the Cultural Adjustments,, then come back and tell us how you feel then,,
