  1. Hi folks, just wondering how long people waited to see an update on their online status after sending back info for an RFE.

I sent mine back last Monday, it arrived Wednesday and it's a week later. I know they say you have to wait 30 days before you can do anything about it, but I was hoping to see what others have experienced.

I know I'm being impatient, I'm just feeling a little defeated about this whole process.

    Thanks

  2. If you want you can add a supplimental page with an explanation, but if you are above the pverty line based on your income then you don't have to include any more than what is asked for.

So, if your wages are over the 125%, you don't have to put your savings. If you do want to, that's fine too. I would include a little supplemental paragraph on an accompanying page that explains to your satisfaction.

I am sure there are many who have savings that are not noted in their regular accounts.

    Good Luck

  3. Welcome aboard, if you need any help this is the place to ask. Use all the guides and check out for if anyone has asked your questions.

The Canada forum was a saving grace for me as there are things specific to leaving Canada I needed to know.

It's a long journey but very worthwhile.

Good Luck to you and welcome :)

  4. Mine was $10, but if it's free- do it up. It's a boring looking piece of paper that will state there's nothing to state...lol.

I didn't get the DS230 Part 2, that was given to me to sign in Montreal so no worries.

    Good luck!

  5. I crossed from Ontario into NY at Alexandria. My POE was great. They referred to their guide book to make sure they were doing everything right. They were friendly, and they didn't even check the truck that was FULL of my stuff.

I have no complaints there. They were familiar with the visa and I feel they did very well.

    Everyone's experience is different.

  6. I did look before I moved, and it worked out. My cover page, or cover email stated implicitly that I was relocating to the US and was looking to continue my career in such and such field. I often only asked if I could set up a meeting with them once arriving, and asked if they would have any positions, should they become available, that would suit me.

Even if I got "No's" back, it was still a first contact-no longer a stranger

and many of them said they would keep my info.

I say go for it, it can't hurt. Now's the time to be picky because once you are here you'll want to take what you can get.

Go for it but just be up front of the situation.

  7. Evil, I had a company that wanted to hire me 2 months before I arrived. I am in a specialized field and I told them the situation, that I would have to wait for work authorization, and that atfer 90 days I would be eligible for interim authorization.

They are waiting for me. I say be upfront and if they are really interested they will at least wait a few weeks.

    Good luck

  8. You know based on the online status of your petition. You need to make an account at the USCIS website, put in your receipt number. If the "last updated" date changes, that means someone has "touched" your case.

This often means someone has been looking at your case, although it doesn't guarantee that anything is happening. It's a good predictor though.

Here's the site to sign up for online.

  9. Hi there, I am in AOS right now and from what I have heard/read it is only during the initial stage that this is affected.

You are always subject to a name check by FBI and other groups during your AOS. Some people go through an extended period of checks. They do this randomly.

However the IMBRA, from what I can tell, does not occur during AOS.

Makes sense too since they wouldn't want to let people into the country and THEN find out negatives about them.

  10. Thanks Sukie, and I am sorry to you both. I really didn't think USCIS would care much about the possible future, but would only base their opinion on the past.

We sent the employer letter with our initial AOS package, so let's hope the 2005 taxes will do it. If they bother to do the math they will see he is making over the 125% but I have no idea if they will...what do you think??

I am taking yours and Yodraks advice and waiting and hoping that we can just move along. I am very thankful for the people here who help all of us through the rough patches-as we know there can be many.
