    Quick question about medicals

    You get your appointment letter in packet 3. They want that letter.

    You need your case # when you book the medical. They used all 3 photos I took. And even though I did take my appointment letter they never looked at it. That's just my experience though.

    I'd just like to say I went to Medysis and had no problems. I think both are probably fine.

    You will need your vaccinaction record and if it's not in English I would think you'd need to have it translated so they can fill out their forms appropriately.

    You can always call if you are not sure.

    Also, I did not wait for my packet 3. At Medysis they only wanted my case number though that may have changed as I went last November.

    Yes you will. In pkacet 3 you will get a list of the Dr's that are qualified to perform the Immigration medical. So, packet 3 will be there soon I am sure. Just wait till you have it, then call up one of the Dr's on the list for your area and book it. They book fairly fast so you don't need to worry about wait time.

    Driving License & SSN

    You can apply for your SSN after the 2 weeks. The general consensus is that it takes 2 weeks for you to be in the SAVE system which is the system that links your entering the country with your immigration status with your SSN people, etc etc. So, if you go in after 2 weeks you should be in the system.

    The Drivers license is different for every state. You will need to check with your local motor vehicles registry.

    Technically you can apply for an EAD before you get married, but the second you get married that EAD is null and void and often times people who apply for it end up getting married before they even get the EAD, so don't bother.

    When you apply for AOS, you'll also want to apply for your EAD with it.

    As for AOS, you can and should apply as soon as you can after you are married. You do indeed need a copy of the marriage certificate. So, you need to make sure that when you get married, you can get your hands on the certificate. We spoke to our local town hall and minister who performed the ceremony and explained the urgency of the situation. We got out certificate 3 days after we were married.

    There are some great guides along the top here to help with the AOS portion. Just remember to get all your forms off the USCIS website and check your fees because they changed just recently.

    Sweet mother- there are some opinions here that are quite pessimistic!!!

    It was just a thought folks. And you never know-I just may do it!

    Cape Cod here. Wooooo.

    I have to say the first maybe 2-3 weeks were really hard for me trying to adjust to not having my family right there. It does pass.

    I had to lean on my hubby quite a bit those first few weeks. There were spurts of crying and just feeling blah. But, you have to make a name for yourself where you are. Establish yourself. Do some things that make you feel like you belong there.

    I've been here now almost 2 months and I am really starting to feel good about things. Other than saying 'eh' all the time. But I'll never give that up!

    Hey folks, I am just looking to tell my story and see what anyone thinks.

    I am now living in Cape Cod, beautiful place evenm though it's not warm yet.

    There are Dunkin Donuts everywhere and they are frikkin expensive.

    We were in Providence, RI 2 days ago to get my biometrics done and there's a Timmy's there, so we had to stop of course. And buy a few tins of coffee.. wooo.

    So, I was thinking...

    My husband and I are young, we both love Tims. He loves it as much as I do, can you believe it?

    And according to the Tim Horton's website there is all this help for people who want to open Tim Horton's in the US. Of course you have to meet the criteria etc, but I am thinking what a perfect place, Cape Cod, to open a Tim's. There is huge demand, especially in the summer, and right now Dunkin has a monopoly.

    If we socked our money away for say 10-20 years, perhaps we could very well do it. Open a Timmy's in Cape Cod. Wouldn't it be perfect??

    What do you guys think??
