    Congrats!!

Now get prepared to wait for your interview!

Ghana is one of the slowest consulates!

Read the Embassy Info and Reviews through the Ghana portal.

That will help you prepare for your interview!

    Good Luck to you!

  2. Thanks to you all for your help,Ghana embassy didn't ask for a letter of intent, not even sure my fiance sent a letter of intent when petitioning for me but i asked him to write one, should in case is been asked for. Thanks

At my fiance's interview I submitted for him a letter of intent. Not sure if it helped or not, but it sure didn't hurt to have one.

  3. Thanks to you all for your posts, reviews and responses on VJ. You've all been of immense help to my fiance and I. My interview was successful on July 24, 2012 and i've picked up my visa on Aug 17, The process was very successful and in three weeks i'm joining my fiance in the US. I wish everyone preparing for their interview success. Just prepare thoroughly and ask questions for more information on VJ as my fiance keep telling me. I've posted my review for others to read and get added information just like others did and i benefited. Thanks Ken, I love you. See you soon....

    Congrats

I also can't wait for my fiance to pick up his visa on September 7th!!

  4. My fiance's interview was today. He called me once he got out of the embassy to let me know about the outcome.

The consular told him that he was approved after asking him only 2-3 questions!!

I thank God for this happy moment in life!

Also thanks to all the advice I have been given here on this VJ site!

Good luck to ALL on this journey!! Keep the faith. :star: :star:

  5. Its doable, but you need to move fast, work hard and be flexible. One thing that helped was there is a wedding chapel at the Mall of America, which made our wedding part easy. My wife brought a wedding dress we had made in her country and a Barong Tagalog for myself, so our clothing was handled. Brides maids dresses where a pain to pick out since everyone had to agree, but we managed that in a very long day of running around. We bought something off the rack that could easily be used again, but made the brides maids look wonderful. The reception was a bit tougher. But we found a hotel with a bar and restaurant and an open room. We got the room for the catering price, and the meal was served buffet style. They also have a band on weekend evening in the bar, so we did not need to book our own entertainment. Everyone just moved to bar later on during the reception. BTW we were married 5 weeks after her arrival, so we managed to put this all together very fast and we had around 60 or 70 guests at the reception. The wedding was a bit smaller with about 30 people attending, but the wedding chapel wasn't really very large.

This was our real wedding set up in just weeks. It wasn't perfect, rehearsal time was too short, but it was memorable and meant more to us than a court house wedding would have.

Thanks for sharing the video! What a sweet ceremony :luv:

  6. we have been approved  :dancing: :dancing: We thank you God and VJ family for all your help. we could not have come this far without you.I'll post a review after i get some sleep since i could not sleep last night at all. once again, thank you.

    CONGRATS!!

I pray for the same outcome!!

Keep the rest of us VJers in your prayers

  7. GAFL,

This is what I included in my petition packet:

    * Payment in the amount of $340.00. (made payable to U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security).

    * I-129F

    * I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of how Kevin and I met in person.

    * G-325A and passport style photo (Petitioner: myself)

    * G-325A and passport style photo (Beneficiary: my fiance')

    * Birth certificate (Petitioner only)--> I did not send my fiance's birth certificate.

    * Both Letters certifying intent to marry (Petitioner and Beneficiary, both signed from myself and him )

    * Proof of having met in person in the past two years: copies of my airline ticket, boarding pass and itinerary. Also a couple of photos of myself and my fiance' together in Ghana, and one of me and him with his family.

    * Proof of ongoing relationship (copies of past and current email correspondence, phone bills, stamped mail, recent letter and engagement ring receipt.)

Now of the proof of ongoing relationship I only sent a few copies that were dated throughout the relationship. I did not send ALL of my proof as that will be used for my fiance's interview that is coming up in August. (please wish us luck :innocent: )

and when I sent all of the above.. I received the NOA-1 with NO RFE!!

Hope my info helps. Good Luck!!

  8. Anyway, we are still together, we recently moved into a house from an apartment. This man thinks he has struck it rich. You should see him laying up in the house with his feet up, looking around like we're in some royal palace.....(5) bedrooms, backyard, big kitchen, family room etc.

and by the way...Congrats on the new house!!

  9. You guys sound like a perfect match to me. In love with lots fun too. You'll never grow old and dull like that.

 Ditto! I was thinking the same thing!

To the OP: You both have invested years into the marriage... You both are still together and are working through it TOGETHER!

Remember the laughs you share and cherish those times when you both feel like giving up.

When I take the plunge into holy matrimony... I too need to remember the good times and stay positive through it all.

  10. K-1 uses the I-134. Ghana does not require the I-864 for K-1!!!!!! People were posting this in earlier forums.... for K-1 it is I-134.... and yes both you and the co-sponsor will fill this out for the embassy.

When your loved one is here, after marriage, and you are adjusting status you will use the I-864. (I-864 is used at the embassy level for spouse visas: CR-1 and K-3- even though K-3 is seldom used now)
