Awww, his loss, you will find someone and it will be even a better situation for you...things happen as they are meant to happen. You will turn out fine my friend. God Bless.
-
Yes Kim, thanks, we've read that before too....ugh.
I will call, or have fiance call, USEM on Monday to see if they have any suggestions.
I hear you on that... Turkey is a pretty quiet place but I'm VERY afraid the freezing of diplomatic relationship between France and Turkey these days is going to affect my request. I applied for the pcc at the Turkish Consulate in mid-December... still waiting.
Unfortunately there isn't much you can do but wait. In case you don't have the pcc in time for the interview, emphasize the troubles in Egypt which may make your document temporarily unobtainable. See what they say...

Thanks Kim..my fiance has been calling the Egyptian consulate in Manila but not directly to Cairo. I had asked her about possibility of doing that very thing last week. She only said she called the consulate in Manila. She has friends who still are working in Cairo, I asked if maybe they could go and pick it up, but apparently its not that easy.
-
Meant, 'Egyptian'....didn't have my coffee when I typed that.

I know this is a long shot but has ANYONE on here requested a police report from Cairo? Or known of anyone who has?
We sent the request, via the Egyptian Consulate in Manila, a few weeks ago. They said approx a month, but with all the BS going on over there, I would not be surprised if they didn't ever get around to such a request, they have bigger worries than our police report request. Its pretty depressing to think that this police report could really jack up our process, which has been moving pretty quickly, we have the interview scheduled for this month and she is doing the physical at St. Lukes next week.
I wished there was an option the USEM could do if the police report requesting country is in political turmoil. The police background check isn't required by NVC, but by the USEM only.

Well if you are active duty military, ie: USMC, you are a federal employee, so in that case you would, but I think you mean a federal employee like a GS whatever or a WG whatever. I don't think you do, nor do I think you should.

I have the U.S number to the USEM, its a 214 number...let me see if I can find local number

Plus my fiance had a prob doing it online as well..she called on phone and did the interview appt. She has the interview paper already.
-
I can give our recent experience on this same topic, we have just did the same thing, this week.
We found out that you have to make the interview appt first, then you can go to St.Lukes, as there is no appt needed. She doesn't have to have completed her interview yet, just have it scheduled, then she can proceed with physical.
FWIW my fiance first appt available for interview was 28 Feb.....

haha, whatever it takes to get your point across...!! I despise judgmental people, it really bugs me.
I use a little older saying, same result - Go take a flying FXXX at a rolling donut!!
-
Oh and as for negative comments...here is how I handle them....I tell them to go f-themselves. That message seems to get right to the point for anyone who has an opinion about me.
Try it, its refreshing, haha.

Congrats, its a great feeling ehhh? haha

Hey Hank, thanks for the response brother. Yea we sorta figured the visa timeline was hit or miss, sorta like this whole process, haha. If I could take off work for two months and go to my girl I would, good for you two...
Jealous on the bike ride, actually its been so nice here as well....50/60's.
Hey Capt'n Ron!!! Just remember - if its going to happen its going to happen out there!
How long after the inteview until the visa is in hand really varies a bunch, I have read of some getting it within a week and others waiting most of a month. Sort of a turkey shoot for sure.
And yup you have 6 months after the visa is issued to use it, I believe the date is stamped in the passport.
When Amy gets towards interview time I am flying over and we are going to kick back allowing close to 2 months after the interview before we need to jump in a sky taxi, just in case they are slow with delivery.
Glad to see you are getting very close!!
... oh, mid 60s and sunshine, just got back from a nice ride! Therapy you know.

Thanks guys for the info, especially you Wally....we are excited to have interview scheduled and to be doing the physical, it makes is seem so much more real....We are HOPING maybe mid to late March to be here.
-
I asked my manager to type up one, on company letter head, stating all the info needed, w/pay and other particulars. Not a biggy, perhaps you can do the same?
-
Hey VJ'ers, I looked on here and didn't find anything too specific on what I was hunting for.
My fiance has her interview scheduled, its for Feb 28th, 6am...this week she will go to St. Lukes and do her physical.
For a GENERAL timeframe, with her physical done this week and interview end of Feb, realistically what is a guesstimate on when the visa could be issued, if the interview goes off without a hitch...? And once the visa is issued, we can book a flight from the day its issued to something like 6 months, (visa is good for 6 months I think).....
I know the times for everything varies, just trying to get a general idea.

ok, thanks, but in order for time, as we are at interview time, I will just pay the 15.00 and download them from the tax online software I used. Thanks though guys.
-
Thanks, so are you saying you do need more than one years return? The two years prior to 2010 I used a tax service that charges 15.00 to retrieve returns, its not expensive but if I don't need to get them then why go through it...
-
I am done with the form actually and I have everything ready to send to fiance, however I have a question on the fed tax form 1040 ....I've read on here where some people have sent a few years of returns, some have sent the past year only. I have 2010 available, but trouble locating the previous years....I have my pay stubs, my 401k statements, letter from employer, etc....and as I said, my 2010 W2 and 1040, and I have my 2011 W2s but won't be filing for while longer.
thanks in advance.

Congrats...!!! Ours was Vermont and approved in 112 days. They are cranking them out.

I hope it saves us some time as well, Diana is headed down in a bit to pay the visa fee and will go online tomorrow to make appts
Cool. My cousin did the same thing and it saved them a month or two. May I ask where you downloaded it from?
Thank you
