  2. Hi,

My husband will be going for his interview at the nairobi embassy next week thursday. I am a usc based in tx and i will not be able to go to my home country to attend the intvw with him. Is there anyone who's recently been interviewed at the kenyan embassy for IR1/CR1 visa? What docs do they ask for and what kind of questions do they ask? What is the process once one gets the visa? after how long do you get back your passport?

    Thanks.

    Good Luck

  3. Hello friends,

I am the petitioner for my wife, but the I-130 has not yet been approved. I'm considering moving to a new apartment before my wifey gets here. I obviously know there is a protocol in place to inform USCIS of an address change.

    My questions are:

    1. Will this further delay our processing? NO

    2. Is it acceptable to just forward all mail to the new address and then make the change later? FIRST: If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 and give them the New address, Second: forward mail to new address!

    3. What if the I-130 gets approved before I potentially move out, do I still need to inform them of the change? Call customer service at 1-800-375-5283 and give them the New address!

Or make a in person appointment here for your nearby USCIS office for them to update your address!

    Thanks

  4. Hello,

I received a letter in the mail about a month ago stating that our paperwork was being forwarded to the Embassy in Afghanistan. I am about to mail all of the neccessary paperwork to my fiance in a couple of days. They still have not contacted him. Will they contact him through phone/email/or mail? Our petition will expire June 15. I did notice there are a few other VJ members who are waiting to get their packet from the Embassy also. After my fiance receives our paperwork in the mail, I am going to contact the Embassy. Is that a good idea? Anyways, my main question is about my wedding dress. I just got it yesterday :)!!! Would it be a good idea to send a copy of the wedding dress receipt? Also, I apologize I have not updated my timeline. I will update it soon. Thanks for your time. :)

Are you the contact person on the DS-3032 Choice of Agent?

Did you use the DS-3032 Choice of Agent Email Template here? or Mailed the paper DS-3032 to NVC?

US mail going to Afghanistan must be behind If you and your husband choose to receive all your documents Via Mail and not Email.....Well that's why hubby hasn't gotten it!

    Always pick Email!

  5. NVC is really out dated when it comes to petitions filed in Hong kong, I mean: they told me on Friday that they will file a report so they can verify that Kong Kong doesn't give anyone a Certificate of No-Criminal Conviction (CNCC) in there hands to mail to NVC, but send it directly to the US consular office :wacko:NVC should already know this info.

Therefore I'm just trying to get information from people that Ive searched on VJ that actually went through this process only in Hong Kong!

    Thanks

  6. is this still current?

If so, it's time to re-educate some NVC Supervisors, when next you call in.

  7. i had to do it and u need a letter from embassy stating you need cncc,i went to embassy in manila and gave me a letter, then mailed with all the proper finger prints, etc. you need to go to hong kong cncc web site and they tell you all docs u need and mail 180 hong kong dollars[when i did it] it could be more now,i mailed a money order from an american bank but it was taking too long for cheak to clear so i had a friend in hong kong go to the wanchai polce station cncc office and she paid in hong kong dollar for me and they gave her my money order back, then they sent police clearance to manila 4 days later, but i had to call manila post office to track it and make sure it got to embassy, then embassy didnt have it at my interview and i had to call ms.denise in embassy and she found it in there mail room!!! so make sure they have it before your interview, you can call hong kong police station cncc [officer in charge ms.winnie lee]to also track progress in hong kong,u need to stay on top of it all!!!! mine was 6 weeks in all but american money order held it up good luck

    Hello,

my Wife is now at this point were you have been, My wife still live and work in Hong Kong and needs to apply now for her HK police clearance and got a RFE for not having the HK police clearance inside the IV Package with the DS-230, I told them HK don't issue the Police reports to people, but they must apply after formal request from the US Consulate!

    1) Did you have to wait for the letter from US Consulate? or formal request from NVC?

    2) Can my Filipino wife go to the US Consulate IN HONG KONG and and ask for a letter stating she need CNCC for her US visa application?

    I'm so confused..

    Thank You

  8. Greetings VJ members,

A phone operator at the NVC said they no longer send out the letter naming the alien and listing the needed documents. Hong Kong requires this letter along with other documents to send the police clearance. The operator told me that they now do their own check for Hong Kong and we were no longer required to obtain it. I'm here to ask for confirmation of this or not from any recent Imigrants. I'm not sure if the operators always have good info.

    Hello,

I'm now at this point were you have been (1)years ago, can you please tell me how this turned out for you? Did you have to wait for the letter from US Consulate? or formal request from NVC?

  9. I'm wondering if my wife can get a letter from the US Embassy in Manila stating that she needs a Hong Kong police clearance. Or do we have to wait for the formal request from NVC before the HK police will process her request for the CNCC?

    Hello,

I'm now at this point were you have been (2)years ago, can you please tell me how this turned out for you? Did you have to wait for the letter from US Consulate? or formal request from NVC?

  10. So...I noticed I didn't fill out the Province either on this question...would it be ok, to WRITE IT IN, or do I have to type out a new form, send it to the hubby for signature again and have him send it back?

Also, while we're on the subject of leaving things blank, #23 & #28 (on DS230, parents deceased?) I left that blank. They aren't deceased. I tried to put N/A but the form said that was not a valid format...so, again, can I WRITE IN N/A?

Sorry if it all seems trivial...just trying to avoid RFE's...

    Thanks!

My problem was that I misunderstood the question. Question# 30 says,"List below all places you have lived for at least six months since reaching the age of 16, including places in your country of nationality. Begin with your present residents".

For my wife I put her residents from birth to present, NOT age 16 to present!! :crying: so i had to remove 16 years from her dates!

NVC mentioned that a lot of people missed this or misunderstood it entirely.

Question#23 we put the year her father died, yes you must do this!

Question#28 we left this blank, as #27 gives her current address!

    Good luck!

  11. Exactly yes.gif

Well, technically, it should be 'none' as the question does apply to you, there just aren't any provinces in Hong Kong.

Just to make sure, there are absolutely zero gaps between the dates, right?

Actually, gaps between the dateswas the problem!! I don't no how i didn't see this, I thought I proof read all the documents before I mailed them, but I goofed big-time!

I had to re-create a new DS-230 form, print, scan then Email it to my wife in Hong Kong for her to sign. Being its Easter weekend there-The Post office is closed until Tuesday April 10th :crying: 'I don't understand some countries'!!

Ooh Well, The lesson of today: Make sure a second or third person proof read your documents before sending them to NVC!
