  1. hello everyone!!

does anybody here had positive sputum smear? cos my 5 year old son had sputum exam for 3 days then on the 4th day the doctor at the pulmonary evaluation said he's positive on smear. does that mean that he has to undergo 6 months treatment?

arent he going to take the culture test?

  2. hello everyone!

I started reading different posts from this forum ever since my husband filed CR-1 and CR-2 petition for me and my son and it has been really helpful to understand the processing of US visas.

Yet, I cannot find a post who has the same case as mine. Can someone please help me by answering my inquiries? i hope you guys will find time to read this. thanks :)

My husband (who is a US citizen at birth) filed a petition for me and my son last January 10. Since he has ACR, the embassy said its okay for him to file it here in Manila. We kept waiting and waiting for the letter until last July, my husband finally decided to ask the embassy regarding the petition. they said that the petition was approved January 25! (can you imagine how long we waited and all the while it was approved) They can't find our address in Batangas that's why they weren't able to send the approval letter. Anyway, last August 18, we have finally received the approval letter. I sent the DS 230 and I already scheduled an appointment on September 27.

    Medical:

My son (5 yo) had primary complex last March 18, and we had him take kids kit up to August (which supposedly until September 18)since i miscounted the months for him to take the medicine. during our Medical at SLEC, the doctor found that out because of course she counted the months and told me that my son should still be taking kids kit. so the doctor advised for our son to have chest xray. the result was clear but since he skipped a month of antibiotics, my son have to go everyday for a month (until oct 10 =which is also our wedding anniv!) at SLEC to drink his medicines. the doctor also said that he needs to go through sputum exam which he did last Sept 13, 14, 15.. the next day, the nurses told us to go to pulmonary evaluation and the doctor there said that his sputum smear is positive, but they don't know what it is yet, so they have to wait for the culture. the doctor also advised him to extend the medication until november 10. I asked them regarding my medical because since mine's already released, it might expire. so they said that i should go to the interview on September 27 without my son.

I am just wondering about these:

    1. when the smear is positive does that mean that we have to undergo the 6-months medication? or are there some instance that the smear is positive yet it is a bacteria other than TB?

    2. my son is just 5 years old, i mean does he have to go to his interview by himself after?

    3. is it true that once you have cr1 visa its validity is only 6 months? what if my son has to undergo 6-months medication? cani file for extension of stay here in the Philippines if ever i get approved?

    4. im a bit nervous about the interview process.. can somebody please tell me how the interview room looks like? or is it just a plain glass window just like at the bank? lol.

Please please hope you can help me

    thanks!!

about your question number 1, you will have to wait for the result of the culture test which is 2 months..if the result there were positive, he would undergo a medication but not sure if its six months coz you said that you miscalculated the months that he should be taking that medicine. you have to wait for 2 months for thge result of his culture test

about your son interviewing, i dont know maybe he will not be interviewed because he is too young..

dont worry too much, they said that it is medical is much more sterssful than the interview..

  3. Hi everyone, my k1 visa is approved and I just need to pick up my visa in MNL and have my CFO seminar this week. That's the good news.

However, I went to my OB-GYNE yesterday to have my check up and the results are not good. My ovarian cyst came back (I had it removed through surgery when I was 20yo, I am now 25yo). I was advised then by my OB to get pregnant, but of course I am not married yet and my fiance and I were not considering marriage yet at that time because for one we were still young, I am still in school and we just want to take things one at a time.

Now, that we found out that my cyst came back (this is a kind of cyst that has a very high recurrence, and the size of my cyst now is big enough to not to be controlled by just medication); my OB gave me an ultimatum of 6 mos to get pregnant, if not I have to go for surgery again. She also outrightly warned me if we do not try getting pregnant now, there would be a big possibility that I wouldnt bear a child anymore.

Okay the dilemma is, my fiance and I are not really considering having a baby in 3 to 5 years for these reasons: we believe that marriage is not just centered upon having children but also being together as a couple, we want to make up our lost time together (being in a 7-year long distance relationship has been too hard to handle, and this is our time to be together just the two of us), me moving to the states will entail a need for me to adjust big time (physically, emotionally, socially and professionally and having a child this soon will be a big responsibility on our part), and lastly, he said he is okay if we can't bear a child (we started discussing this when I had my first ovarian surgery, but of course I, as a woman would still in a way want to give my husband a child).

So, anyone could give me a piece about our situation? I know I can get a good piece of advice from those who are ahead of us in this journey of married life.

    Thank you so much

hello sis, im sorry to hear that the cyst were back again. I have a friend who have same situation with you, until now she could'nt get pregnant esp she older now (34yo) and her hubby went back to Italy..

In my opinion, just do what your heart wants you to do..Follow it. You have to take the risk. If you won't try having a child within the time span given by your OB, just be prepared that you wont be able to bear a child anymore. Just think of it that maybe God gave you this situation for you to able to know what is your priority in life. Being away from your fiance is very hard,m but like you said, you will be together soon so you have all the time in this world to make up for the lost time. Me also was away from my hubby for 5 years now, and soon i hope that we would be together with our kids..Nothing is more happier than to have a complete family.

It's up to you sis, just ask for God's guidance and you will never be lost.God Bless you.. :)

hihihi kaya ditop rin ako nagbabck read kasi yung isang thread about sa St. Lukes Medical Exam nagkakagulo na! nakakaloka! dont wori mga sis kapag interview ko na balitaan ko kayo..

  5. whew! i made a lot of time only to read this thread..and i must admit this one is very interesting..i'm glad that there are still a lot of american who did not tolerate the behaviour of their fellow buddy! I salute them for understanding the policies here in the phils as well as respecting us too.

Lessons learned!: Think first before you speak and be humble.just accept it and apologize for the wrong doings. We understand that you are under pressure at that time but that is not an excuse for saying rude things about the people here in the Phils esp the policies that we imposed here. Me personally, i was offended on what you say here. I bet if we say something Bad about your country or to your fellow american too you will get offended also?

I hope we learned something from these..next time be more extra careful on what you will going to say.Still, goodluck and i hope this wont affect your journey... (L) (L) (L)

  6. I'm a bit embarrassed by your behavior. Humility and compassion aren't your strong suit. I understand you're under a lot of stress but goodness man, keep it together and relax. It'll work out or it won't so try not to stress and make an donkey out of yourself. I wish you luck Darren, really I do but I don't think you'll get too much sympathy here acting like that. Best of luck with your interview and second half of medical.

  7. Sana naman ay magkasked pa ng interview next week. Sabi kc ng iba, nung tumawag sila sa NVC, by Sept 6 pa daw sila magrerelease talaga. Kahit daw yata sa ibang categories, wala pa sked for interview. Sabagay, dami kc holidays na tinamaan last week up to Sept 5.

    mga sis san yung kabila?

ako by end of sept pag nakalusot sa medical papasked nako ng interview..

  8. Who is the courier contractor of the us embassy?

How long is the delivery of approved visa? Or by pick up from their office?

    Would appreciate for your reply.

2GO na po courier nila..and it depends kung ilang araw..yung iba after 3 days lang yung iba 5 days..and foir pick up..i think pwede yun matrack sa 2go online..yun lang po nabasa ko.. :)

  9. medical will expire in three months after you got the result as per the lady i talked to at SLEC. She told me that after i passed the culture test which the result will be on sept, by december i should out of the country or else i will repeat the whole process of medical..so one moth before your interview date will be good..

  10. So the analysis's don't expire if he goes early???

He tells me that people go 1 week before interview??!!

i agree with bocachicabae, as long as he had the appointment letter, he can go to his medical. it is much better to have a medical exam so that if problem occurs, you still have ample time to solve it. just like mine my interview was cancelled because of the culture test.. the earlier the better,, :) :)

  11. my twins were 3 years old..im afraif they might not say the name of their father because they are both bulol hahaha..i think pr should i say the CO wont aski them because they are too young..

  12. Our case was completed at NVC on August 16 and the suspense of not being able to schedule an interview was eating at me. After conducting some research here on VJ under Embassy Info, I was able to request late September interview by calling (214) 571-1600 (as I'm in the USA).

According to the rep at US Embassy Manila, they have available slots for August, September and October. I could have chosen an earlier date. However, this gives my husband time to finish up whats needed prior to his USA trip.

  13. Yes, I figured you don't know who he is. Otherwise, you would have understood the gist of my previous post.

Sir Clark is the one who handles all the "sputum" files. He is the "Y in the road", so to speak. After the test, the file is sent to him and he forwards to the appropriate department.

So, If you get Sir Clark on the phone and he tells you the results. It's bank. ;)

    ok

  14. I'm sure you'll be alright....keep us posted sis.

As for me, I had clarithromycin medication for 7 days it's for my allergy I think I'm on my 3rd week of culture test now (sure time flies fast) They ask me to go back on Oct 7 to have another x-ray and of course, the pee test. Did anybody undergo the same case as mine? I think I've read one here in VJ but I'm just not sure what happened to them after. I'm also thinking if I can call them a week to see if the result is already ready for release. Lastly, they took my tourist visa in SLEC hoping that they'll give it back....the girl said USEM will cancel it :( Any inputs will be appreciated

the doctor didn't give me any medicine..i will call SLEC on the 26th of september to know the results..just like you, my interview was also cancelled, supposed to be it was today, aug 23, but due to culture test, i will resched it on october depending on the result. goodluck to all of us..
