And, not for nothing - what kind of slubs were you dating in America?????
Yes, my husband holds the door; yes he carries all the bags & doesn't want me to carry anything; yes, he wants to do laundry but I don't want him to; yes he cooks; etc etc etc.
So, no I'm not bitter or angry. (maybe a little sleep deprived b/c he snored so freaking loudly last night, but not bitter or angry).
I just don't understand #1 - why give ribbons for it,
#2 - what kind of jerks were you hanging out with in America? I've had Americans do all of that also.
#3 - how many women throw around superlatives and definitives (he's the best...the most...the perfect...I have ever known) and you've not lived with him! It drives me a little batty sometimes because to me it sounds bizarre!
I could be the most demure, selfless, accomodating, eyelash batting, princess, if I had to - for a week or two on vacation!
sorry to butt into the thread but c'mon!!!

And, at the risk of being screamed at or accused of being angry & bitter, how many of the above posters have your manly men actually living with you? (Betsy - I'm aware yours is. Not sure of the others.)

Chivalry did not enter the equation for me. I'm too busy fulfilling inappropriate-to-my-gender roles to be concerned about such things.

You are definitely not alone. My first year here was very difficult, I had fights with my husband all the time and fantasised about leaving. Even packed my bags once. For me it wasn't so much safety as culture shock (despite visiting many times), coming from liberal Dublin city, Ireland to bible belt, Arkansas. I basically went from being the right-winger in my group of friends to being the leftie hippy for my in-laws, and it took me a loooong time to make friends. The car culture and pervasive nature of Evangelical Christianity around here was also very difficult.

Ok - after a thorough review (!!!!) I am leaving this thread closed for a number of TOS violations - to say nothing of how far off of the track it veered from the original topic!
Oh - and I used up my daily allotment of +1s too .

Meh, I dunno...if it were me, I'd say a trip down there was in order.
I was in sort of a similar situation. I livd with my ex in his country for a period of many years; I made a lot of friends (mutual ones) and forged relationships with them. When I left, there was some fighting going on between two groups of friends, and without going into details, he was kinda stuck in the middle. Two of the girls in the one group (my friends) decide to call me up and tell me that he was sleeping around. I questioned him, and like you, trusted completely that we had an 'understanding' that if he was ever interested in someone else, I'd prefer him to leave rather than stay. He gave me the excuse that they were mad at him, it was retribution, etc...so I chose to believe him. It did sound not only plausible, but likely.
Flash fwd a while, he's up to his interview, and some random girl decides to get on the phone and tell me all sorts. He actually then confirmed it all. Then also confirms what my friends had said the year before. And that was that.
I'm not in any way suggesting because something similar happened to me, that it is happening to you. But it is possible that you are completely snowed on this. You don't have the luxury of seeing with your own eyes, and sometimes that winds up being a fatal problem.
If it were me, I'd msg the person and get more information and verify/dismiss as much as I can. I'd also go there.
    Good luck.

    Indeed there are:
    Or what about:
    China Love Match
    Asians4asians
    Indian Dating
    Italianpeoplemeet
    Not forgetting of course:
    Russianwomen
    These things exist already.
Where you're confused is in the idea that 'white' people identify themselves as white. They don't.

The "hatred" as you put it has nothing to do with what your or anyone's wife looks like - rather it lies in the crass and demeaning objectification they are being subjected to by husbands who present them as material things, rather than human beings.
It's not about your SO, it's about you and how you comport yourself.
    Nothing.

The egos on display of some of these guys... perhaps it's not a problem with American women it's that the men who complain about not being able to score with them are boorish and overbearing.
In most Western countries, it's not exactly a winning trait to be an arsehole. Perhaps through cultural differences some foreign women perceive arseholishness as something else.

Seriously.. I don't want to hear about your wife being naked. Do you have absolutely no respect for her? What the two of you do in your home is your own private freakin' business. Throwing that stuff out here for everybody to read is kind of pathetic.
If this discussion was a fight, it would already be stopped. The ladies have just totally dominated. TKO on page 30.

Another mystery I have dwelt upon is why in the world anyone would have three MAs. Most people just move on to the PhD, though I understand James Franco is currently working on his second.

Actually, I think it's great that it's leached out from the RUB forum. I think more people need to see some of the things that are posted in there for themselves. The casual misogyny that goes on there unabated is the shame of VJ, in my opinion. But then again, what do I know? I'm just another bitter, entitled USC woman, one who moved to a foreign country to be with her man, then moved back to the USA when her man wanted to live here (and she didn't), and made the best of it while she wore high heels.

But these women don't really know you, do they? Telling someone you have a deep and meaningful connection that you have forged in the real world you wouldn't move vs telling someone you im'ed once or twice isn't exactly the same thing, is it?
I don't disagree that Americans can be fat, shallow and self-centered because many of them are. I just think it's hilarious that certain individuals don't believe that these negative qualities are equally distributed among both genders. Because in case you hadn't noticed, there are just as many USC women on this board as there are men, if not more.
