A partner is and supposedly your equal / balance and not a property you own or control. A controlling attitude takes away the identity of the other person as herself. One can't be happy losing who she is. Realize that when you married somebody from different culture, you should be understanding of the way people are raised from the place where they came from. Of course we understand your concern. It's never so easy to find work and earn there. However, do remember that the moment you hurt your wife's family would hurt her too. Between who wears the pants or not. You should also remember blood is thicker than water. If it is really about family matter, I think the best way to deal with it is to talk with your wife. Express to her your feelings by letting her know that you respect them and do care that the relationship between you , her and the family stay close. Don't ever create that wall in between her and her family, especially this time when she will be adjusting. Its no way good to pile up more stress.

Darren has started another thread....... ................ I'm sorry but you'll not get too much sympathy airing out your 50's man/woman mentality here. I understand it may work for you but there's going to be many who have a problem with it. Best of luck with the MIL problems. Sometimes it's not what you say, it's how you say it to convince/encourage others to do the right thing or to modify behaviors.

It's reliable, it's simple, it's fast. But.... it's not as cheap as it seems!!
Consider a $2,000 send of money. All it costs is $6, right? Well, almost... now consider that the going rate is 42.2php to the dollar. So $2,000 will be 84,400php from the bank. But Xoom only gives you 41.3php, or 82,600, meaning they gain 1,800php or $42.65, plus $6, or $48.65.
OTOH, if your fiancee has an ATM card drawn on your bank, typical fees are 200php per 10,000 drawn, so about the same 1,800php, minus the $6. My bank refunds the first $15 worth of fees each month, so I save a little there. In the long run, I think an ATM card is the better way to go. It's too bad you can't just scan an emailed check into your bank in the PI like we can in the USA... now THAT would be the cheapest, fastest, easiest way to go!

Marriage must be founded with pure understanding... It's not about how grand the wedding is but how you keep the marriage works. If he can't seem to afford a big wedding for now then you must understand him... Again it's not about being big and opulent but how you'll keep it sacred... Sometimes we must learn how to appreciate simple joys and blessings to see how true happiness really means Good luck and all the best to both of you <3

remember BIG problem comes after letting small problems accumulate and just be ignored and not resolved. You mentioned being in a long distance relationship, had you not for ones or in as many times been introduced to his real environment? Like let you know who he lives with and how they are if and when around the house. Me and my fiance had been in along distance relationship and thanks for the VIDEO CALLS I am able to be part of his day to day life.

We can give guidance by trying to know the root cause of this..I am not here to bombared the OP or to be judgemental. We need to analyze every area to arrive into a much better advice. I do feel where she is coming, but I dont advice DIVORCE too quick. Marraige can still be resolved in ways possible..there are time for adjustment...and mind you, I had been in her situation that why I am asking.

I still think wht's missing between the OP and her husband is communication. Try to do your best to make a civil and meaningful conversation with your husband and let him know how you feel if and when you already out of option and knew that you did your best to make the relationship work, I guess that's the time when divorce is needed.

Its a common misconception about annulment that i the other party will not cooperate, annulment is not possible. However, having a first hand experience of this case where my husband also refused to sign the summon and appear in court made the case be pretty much easier. The respondent being absent during the hearing will be represented by the fiscal. I am already annulled and my husband had not showed up even just ones nor responded to his summon. If the respondent can;t be located, the summon can just be publicized.

There's an extent of being patient. I may suggest to the OP that you try to talk to your husband outside your home. Go to place like park where two of you could talk privately and not getting stress out because of your environment. I am not a guidance counselor but I may suggest that you ask him what is his plan for you and your future. Soon enough you will have kids, you don't want your kids to live in your situation right now.
Save money as much you can. Have patience and perseverance in finding job. I know that looking for a job here is very hard but never give up. It's also helps when you feel so stress that you take refuge from Almighty Father (not imposing but might help you to your stressful life).
As for mail, to keep it for your privacy, go to post office get P.O. Box. All you need is your husband's signature to remove conditions. You can ask help here, when you need to apply.

this process is horrible indeed, because your life is put on stand-by. but the timeline is not as accurate as you think. CSC approves people faster cause they have less petitions. now, noa2 can vary from 2 months to 9 months (seen a lot of cases) after noa1. calling uscis often might put you on a black list. i advise you to just wait, cause theres nothing you can do about it. when you reached your 6 months wait and still no noa2, only after that you can call uscis.
