My husband had his interview at the Kansas City Missouri office today. I went with him for support and waited in the waiting area. We arrived 30 minutes before his appointment time. The office seemed pretty busy, but he was called back at the time he was scheduled for. He said everything pretty much went like they show on the you tube video for N400. His interview began with the history test. He was asked 6 questions and got them all correct. The questions were:

1. What is one right or freedom from the 1st amendment?

2. If the president can no longer serve who becomes president?

3. Who is in charge of the executive branch

4. Name one reason colonist came to America

5. During the cold war what was the main concern to the United States

6. There are four amendments in the constitution about who can vote. Name one of them.

The IO then went through the N400 application with him. She asked him where he worked and and some questions about his job. She asked if he was married. She asked about our trips out of the country. They went through the yes/no questions.

He then had to read the sentence: What state has the largest population.

He had to write the sentence : California is the state with the largest population.

The IO then said congratulations. She handed him the paper with the box checked that his application was recommended for approval and told him he would be scheduled for an oath ceremony in the next 3 months!

I had my interview this morning at Federal Plaza, New York City. The officer tested me on civics, history & English and verbally verified everything in the application. Eventually, he gave me a form indicating that I had passed all the tests and that my application was recommended for approval.

Med-Cal will not pay off this bill. Medical insurance will not cover charges that were incurred before you were covered by their plan. As stated above you need to call the hospital's billing department and work out a payment plan.

You can't call a marriage or engagement a sham purely because of an age difference. Not everybody in the world wants children and that is perfectly fine. Not everybody in the world is able to bear their own children either. Just because you aren't privy to another couple's situation doesn't give you any right to judge.

You will find plenty of VJ members with an age difference who are happily married as well as plenty of members without an age difference who are not. As Ischnura stated not everyone is able to or may not want to have children regardless of their age. Furthermore, stating that couples applying with a large age difference makes it harder for those without an age difference to get a visa is just absurd. Not having enough evidence to prove your relationship is legit is what keeps you from getting a visa.

I got a text today saying my interview has been scheduled! Unfortunately the website doesn't tell me WHEN it's been scheduled for. Hopefully the letter will arrive soon. But progress is being made! Hooray

My husband got his letter pretty quick. I got the text thursday and the letter came in the mail Monday.

Just received the interview letter in the mail today and it specifically states You must bring the following with you to the interview:

this letter

your alien registration card

any evidence of selective service registration

your passport and / or any other documents you used in connection with any entries into the united states

My husband was able to walk in and do early biometrics at the kansas city office today! yeah! If someone does an update than they please change our biometrics to 5/27. Thank you!

I doubt the USPS lost or mis-delivered that many pieces of mail. Is your Husband's name on your mail box? If not, you should put it on there. The US Postal service is not supposed to deliver USCIS mail to a box that does not have the recipients name on it. Also, make sure your address is correct on all forms.

I don't doubt it. Our mail service here is awful. Our mail is mis-delivered on a weekly basis. My husband's driver's license and our personal property tax were lost in the mail and both had the correct address. The last 3 out of 4 packages I ordered on Amazon were delivered to the wrong zip -code ( tracked where they package was delivered) and the packages were addressed correctly. I have made multiple complaints both in writing and by phone to the local and Federal post-office. It gets better for a few weeks after I complain but then its back to the same old stuff. I always worry when we are waiting for a notice from USCIS. My husband's ROC notice was delivered to a neighbor down the street. Luckily they were nice enough to get it to us. I would gladly pay a little bit extra for them to send it certified mail.

Sorry - I know that doesn't help you out except to say I don't think there is anything you could have done to keep it from getting lost in the mail, I'm sorry it happened to you.

Updating with my Biometrics date. The notice is dated 4/29/16 and my appointment is for 5/17. I did not receive an email or text. I saw my case status update then a couple days later we collected the mail from our mail service.

Finally! Our check was cashed today and we got the text with our receipt number. I was starting to worry it was taking so long.

My husband is from Romania. We did the k1 visa and had no problems at all. The interview at the Romanian embassy was not difficult. Honestly, I think renewing his Romanian passport this year was more difficult than any of the k1 stuff.

You should consider including life insurance policy , 401k plan, and wills showing spouse as beneficiary. They are definitely looking for financial co-mingling at ROC.

Moderators, please step in, we cannot be providing incorrect details to people. I am 100% certain that it is very risky to advise someone to leave the country without the I-551 stamp. The I-797 by itself is NOT a travel document, and not all immigration officers accept the I 797. All that letter is saying is that one has a petition pending. Also, I 797 is not even sufficient for financial institutions where you have to prove your status.

I have never heard of anyone being denied an I-551 stamp if their green card is expired while the new one is pending

My husband was denied an 1-551 stamp in September. They will not give it at the Kansas city office unless your extension letter is about to expire.

While I can understand your frustration in waiting for the K1 visa, you have only been waiting for under 2 months..sorry don't mean to sound harsh but you need to know that this immigration journey is a very long process from K1 all the way through to citizenship so unfortunately you will have to get used to waiting on USCIS for every single application that you file.

In the meantime, start doing your research to see what will be the next step in your immigration journey. This way, when you go to apply for that next round of paperwork you will be prepared and there won't be any surprises coming your way.

When I went through K1, I thought that it was taking super long but looking back it went super fast. I would say that my ROC application took the longest (almost a year) out of all the paperwork that I have filed so far.

Like moemac59 said, this is just the beginning of a long process. There is a lot more waiting to come, along with a lot more paperwork and frustration. We used the time to research the next step in the process so we would be prepared. Stay strong, the immigration journey is not for the weak!

That old post was probably mine. I think my husband is one of the few unlucky people who have had trouble traveling with the AP card. The combo cards had only been in use about a year or two when we traveled to Cancun and we flew on Frontier airlines who mostly fly domestic but have some international flights to Mexico. At check in for the return flight, Frontier airlines in Mexico refused to issue my husband a boarding pass because they said he needed a valid green card or "travel papers". We even used our smart phone to pull up the uscis website to show them where USCIS stated that the combo card replaced the travel document as of Feb 2011.

The combo cards have been around long enough now and especially if you are flying on a major airline you shouldn't have any problems.

I used legal zoom 2 years ago for wills. The process was easy and inexpensive!
