  1. My husband was denied a B2 visa twice and we applied for K1 after the denial. The B2 visa denials never came up during the process. While everyone has a different experience with this process, the one thing i found to be consistant is how inconsitant it is. We had a couple of things with our case that everyone said would be a red flag and would be a problem and none of them ended up being an issue. I did attend my husband's interview with him so maybe that was the difference. Have lots of evidence of your relationship and be prepared to answer any questions that may come up and apply when you are ready. Research the consulate forum for your country specifically and read the reviews. Somethings are more important for some countries and others.

  2. I would make sure the airline is famiar with the letter. When we had trouble traveling with the AP/EAD combo card - the airline would not accept it and wouldn't issue him a boarding pass. They said he had to show an unexpired green card.

i know it's not the same thing, but I could see the same issue coming up if the airline isn't familiar with it. I would think most major airlines would know what it is- we were flying frontier airlines returning from cancun Mexico. I think Mexico is their only international flights so maybe they just aren't as knowledgeable.

  3. I would not plan anything based on what USCIS processing times appear to be. My husband filed for ROC in May and did not get his biometrics letter until September 15. - so instead of the 1 month average it took 4 months and a lot of phone calls to USCIS - and we were not alone. This happened to about 1/4 of the May petitioners. Even after the biometrics is done you would still need to be available in case you get scheduled for an interview or need to respond to an RFE. I would go early and return before green card expires.

  4. Ok, still no bio here. Several weeks ago my wife was able to open a service request, and the 30 days came and went with no response. She called back and they told her they sent a letter which we obviously never received. They said that all the letter said was that they are experiencing delays and she is on the list. We are now 3 months and 3 days from noa1 receipt, and we're going to call back again today or tomorrow. Assuminh we don't get any solid info, we're going to try contacting our local congressman like some of you have suggested. I am guessing i will email him....what exactly am i supposed to say? Do i keep it as brief as possible and then give him the details if he responds? Or do we explain the whole situationright away?

We still have not received my husbands biometrics letter either. last week we called uscis again and were told they can not located our case at this time and not to inquire again until mid September. I have now enlisted the help of our congressman.

If you go to your congressman's website you should be able to fill out a privacy release and submit a request.

I had to do this when we were waiting for his green card. I kept the initial request brief and to the point. My congressman's assistant followed up a few days later with a phone call in which we went into more detail. We received a response a few days later. I hope we get the same results this time. It's frustrating that we have had to contact our congressman more than once during this process. Good luck-hopefully both of us will get our appointment soon!

  5. My husband still has not received his Biometrics. Put in a service request back in July. Received a response on August 4th, that his name would be put on the scheduling list. Called USCIS again today. They would not check anything for us. We have a lot of trouble with our mail not being delivered or getting delivered to the wrong address, so I was hoping they could at least tell us if a letter had been mailed. He would not look it up for us and would not let us talk to anyone else. We were told all we can do is wait and not to call back again until the middle of September. UGH... so frustrating!

  6. God..so frustrating. As i mentioned before, i called a week or so ago and spoke to an agent who was going top open a service check, but she said they were having technical problems and i needed to call back the next day. Well, i finally just called back and this time the agent wouldn't talk to me without my wife's permission. She said my wife is the applicant even though we are married and jointly filed the i-751. The previous lady didn't make a big deal about it at all and this lady wouldn't even speak to me. Just so frustrating.

I'm with you...it seems like they took the stack of i-751 apps from somebody's desk and put them in the wrong place or something.

We are still waiting too and I agree! It seems odd that no one at CSC who submitted between 5/19 and 5/29 has gotten an appointment. I think the stack of files got misplaced....

  7. My husband had problems coming back from Mexico using his AP card. CBP was not the problem. The airline was the problem. Frontier airlines in Mexico was not familiar with the combo card ( this was in 2013) so they would not issue him a boarding pass. They were under the belief he should have separate travel papers Check with the airline when you book her ticket and make sure they are familiar with the AP card. The combo cards have been in use a lot longer now so this might not even be an issue anymore.

  8. Should I Schedule an InfoPass appointment with Local Field Office?

    Why?

Again, there is nothing out of the ordinary here. If you look at our time line it took us 10 months to get ours and that was back before they started sending out the letters informing people that they were a potential interview waiver case. We had no idea if we had missed our interview or if our file was lost, etc. At least you got a letter letting you know that you are a potential interview waiver.

You might want to follow this thread - there are a lot of others waiting too

  9. Thanks everyone. We had a talk today and decided that our best option is going to be to go ahead and have a legal wedding in Mexico next month for her family, as planned, and just wait and file for the CR-1 then. I can't believe it's going to be another whole year before we can be together, but I guess it's just something that has to be dealt with in this situation. I really appreciate everyone's thoughts on here and I'm sure I'll be asking a ton of questions as I start to file those forms.

Congratulations! I think you are making a wise decision. Good Luck on your Visa Journey!
