I would settle for 2 meals a day and a granola bar and a laptop with dialup connection. I don't even need the TV.
We agree on the importance of bathroom breaks, though.

I would wait 3 ENTIRE YEARS in the "return aisle" for that kind of money. As long as I get 3 meals a day, a laptop, a tv, and bathroom breaks I would wait 3 years in the exact same location, patiently waiting in line, counting off the hours and days - to cash in on that deal of a lifetime.

Chynna/gapamix got a reaction from PAPUNMANMU in On AP due to Divorce Decree
    Hi VJers,
I need your help once again.
We were placed on AP after our interview on October 31, 2011. We recently obtained an update from the embassy informing us our AP is due to my unilateral divorce decree (aka) Haiti quicky divorce. I have done a lot of research and now realize we will most likely be denied due to the type of decree I submitted for the K1 Visa petition.
So now knowing the possible outcome I am asking for all options possible for us to be together here in the United States. We are not really concerned with time frame. We both agreed how ever long it takes, we are willing to wait to be together. We would like to know what would be the best course of action to takea far as filing again? What is the best way to go about this to avoid such obstacles in our future filing?
I now see why it is important to have an immigration lawyer, if i did have a lawyer they would of told me my divorce decree would not be valid enough for the United States Embassy . I say valid enough because in some states in the US it is valid for example Massachusetts, where i am from and where I continue to reside currently.
    Thanks in advance.

I have lived a fabulous life but I have always said that I was different. Different from other women in my ways and different in the wonderful ways things have worked out for me in this life. With that being said, the first way I handled things was simply by being a grown woman that does not care what people think or say about the choices that make me happy. Secondly, I shared some details with select people but in a very simplistic way about the timeframe and K1 process. By letting people know that a US passport gets you many places overseas without a visa and many other countries need visas is eye opening to most because many never had to think about or deal with visas, foreign relocation, etc. Lastly, be happy! My best friend didn't believe and you would think that was kind of hard for me but it wasn't. I kept it kinda quiet since my fiance (at the time) hadn't arrived yet until I was certain of my feelings and we got through some of the process hoops but the 10 months of the K1 process was when I told the world. They didn't believe but they saw how I glowed with happiness. I would tell them how his character and ways matched all the things I had prayed for in a mate since I was a little girl (women really relate to that). I also let them ask their questions because I knew they didn't fully get it. It's not you but it is different for most and seeing me this happy and all of his efforts for me to make this work they couldn't be harsh and they also knew I wouldn't care. Now they see us together, our wedding pics and all of their reservations that they had just faded away. Now I get the following top 3 comments from close insiders and others:
1-I didn't believe but now I see how much he loves u. You guys are a perfect match.
2-I wasn't sure about this because I wanted to protect your heart but you are a match made in heaven. The way he looks at you is amazing.
3-Can you guys bottle up some of that happiness and sell it to me?
Other than those comments, now nobody ever mentions the way we got together. Things can turn around for you too, just be happy and live for you. Everybody else will fall in line.

Great question...for me I don't go into it too deep but for those like work staff, I kinda let it outta the bag because my interview was coming up October 31). Of course when I returned devastated by the AP outcome I had to put on my game face because of course they who knew wanted to know one question. "Is he here? When is he coming? I had no answers for them except not yet. Now i simply tell them it's a matter of national security and I will wait no matter how long. They look at me like I am crazy and I look back at them and smile because I am in love.......
People will always have something to say about a long distance relationship. Your strength and how much you believe in your relationship determines how much what people say affect you.

Quit talking to him. Change your number.

Hi.... I dont believe haiti cases are expedited these days maybe when the earthquake first happened and a couple of months after... But I have yet to see that everybody that has gotten approved before me has waited the typical 5 to 6 month mark for their petition approval. But Im cool with that because I got some things I have to do so the time doesnt bother me at the moment now when I finish handling what I need to handle and I'll be waiting that will be a whole another story Also it depends on what center your petition is at if its at California okay its normal to see someone approved in 2 or 3 months but vermont your looking at 4 to 6 months of waiting than off to the embassy stage. So I hope you dont have your hopes too high

well, i think you are playing it too close.. domestic or not.. you won't be a US Citizen at the time (us citizens do not need passport, that part is clear).. so why chance it.. in my humble opinion.. i think it is NOT worth the risk.. no matter what anybody tells you here.. it will be the people at the airport who have the opinion that matters..
but, if that is what you and your spouse choose to do... i hope it works out great is not a problem.. and not like the article i posted..

i would say, go to Florida.. instead.. for now.. you have rest of your life!!

Some people's documents are easier to verify than others. It's easier to verify information from the UK than to verify information from Vietnam. It's easier to verify information when it would be a first marriage for both fiancees than it would be for people with prior marriages. It's easier to verify the information when a couple send in exactly what is asked for than for a couple who may have sent in something else.
For example, John and Mary files first and it's hard to verify their information. Dave and Beth file much later and their information is easy to verify. As soon as their information are verified, they can be approved. It's not unfair for Dave and Beth to have their case approved before John and Mary's when Dave and Beth's information have been verified while John and Mary's information is still being verified.

i had to pay 10 pound for a birth certificate to show my mother and fathers names and to prove that i was born but yet i could just tell them all the info they needed... but i could also lie about it. USCIS and the embassy want documented proof of everything... words alone are not and should never be enough to prove anything. just be grateful he has never been in trouble cos then he would also require a 'subject access request' (£10) and 'memorandum of conviction' (£60)

These people will ALWAYS assume that the marriage is for immigration ( fraud)purposes. It is up to you to PROVE they are wrong. Sometimes all the papers in the world mean nothing.
When my wife went to Warsaw, alone, for her interview the woman said to her " do you know your fiancée is still living with his ex-wife in her home..we have proof". Wow. My wife looked her right in the face and said " you are wrong. He lives alone at this address. I do not believe you. You cannot show me proof because you do not have any". And she was very confident in her answer. That was enough for the woman. She got her visa.
One of the problems with these interviews is that the fiancée is intimidated. And nervous. It can be difficult. Most USC who accompany their fiancée ( usually they must wait outside) will not take no for an answer if there is a problem and maybe even argue a bit because it is THEIR government and they have the right to question the CO's.
Sorry you had to go through all this.
