Great question...for me I don't go into it too deep but for those like work staff, I kinda let it outta the bag because my interview was coming up October 31). Of course when I returned devastated by the AP outcome I had to put on my game face because of course they who knew wanted to know one question. "Is he here? When is he coming? I had no answers for them except not yet. Now i simply tell them it's a matter of national security and I will wait no matter how long. They look at me like I am crazy and I look back at them and smile because I am in love.......
People will always have something to say about a long distance relationship. Your strength and how much you believe in your relationship determines how much what people say affect you.

Ok here's the thing my fiance was refused a visa at the time of his interview. The IO didnt say why it was refused. I am thinking that It could be that I only visited him once and the fact that in the same month of my divorce I filed the I129f form. I am confused because I really don't know waht it could be. At the interview they asked my fiance about my previous marriage and about my kids and then the IO asked him why he never filed for himself. At the same time they kept everything except for his passport and the IO gave him back the pictures of us. What do you guys think it maybe?
So did he recieve a 221g or did they tell him visa refused today and gave back all the evidence?

Well I just got off the phone making the appointment. April 16, 2012.....I'm disgusted!
Wow that is a long time away but at least you know in April you will be there and hopefully take your husband home with you. Did you call the embassy directly or did you have to use the CIVA card to make the appointment call?

I do not know why i see US embassy in haiti most of the time does not allow the visa if both people are not attending the interview. That happened to a friend of mine who is the beneficiary and the US wife is the petitioner. They did not give him the visa the first day of the interview and they ask him to make sure that his wife in Haiti specially to attend the second interview. This gonna be a problem for me because my wife is currently pregnant and i heard that from 6 months of pregnancy her doctor will not allow her to take plane. I do not know how i am going to handle this situation. Suppose i have her doctor explaning everything in a letter and have it sent directly to the embassy, i am wondering if it will be taken into account.
Rujby , I think if you get a letter from your wifes doctor explaining why it is a high risk for her to travel for the interview you should be fine. Another VJ member from Haiti did that and it worked for her. Also don't forget I attended the interview with my fiance and I wasn't even aknowledged....I had to roar a little to even get some eye-contact so you never know what they really want. Bon chance my friend.

Recovering from the shock of being placed in AP. Called DOS immediately after the interview, and we were told the interview went "really well," and that it was not due to any missing documents from our end. We only have theories as to why my husband's case would be marked for AP.
I'm furious, hurt, and confused. Browsing here, I don't see any recent posts from Canadians. I never thought I'd be dropping into this forum. So upsetting.
Anyone else in AP in Montreal or Vancouver?
Very sorry to hear about your interview resulting in AP. I do hope you complete AP soon.

Seriously, if the choice was presented to you, a million dollars to abandon the Visa process, cut all ties with the beneficiary and start a new life with the money. What vwould you do?

What happens when the K1 petition expires while awaiting the results of AP? What should be our next steps or do we continue to wait because AP trumps the expiring petition date?
Thanks

hmmmm it might be a temporary denial pending the second interview, if so then you will need to convince them at your 2nd interview that your relationship is solid. I would either read posts on here or post a new thread asking for evidence suggestions and I am sure someone wiill come up with something new. Also post it in the right forum category.
I will be definately praying for you.

I finally caught up with the paperwork that was originally supposed to have been sent back in February,2011 by a lawyer, well now I find out that the petition was sent November 25,2011. I know I could have did better but at this point I am just happy that USCIS has the paperwork and now we are officially on our journey and now we wait however, I have a question on the embassy in PAP and how long they take to with interview and medical appointments? picture is me in Haiti!
Glad to hear your paper work is now in order. Are ypu filing a K1 or CR1?

Hi, I just logged here to meet people that, like me, are also in the fiance visa.
I'm from Brazil and my fiance is from VA, USA. We met on internet and within three months he came down to meet in person... It was a wonderful time together!
We did send our I-129F in september and got our NOA1 in october, 3. Now we are waiting for our NOA2. but while that doesn't come, he is coming again in january to be together for wonderful 13 days in one of the most beautiful beach in Brazil, Buzios.
He already know all my family and this time we will have a pre-honeymoon... traveling together for the first time...
Can not wait to have a whole life with my baby...
Hope I can find some friends in the same process, then we can share doubts and some information...
Bye!
Welcome to VJ....I am sure you will get lots of info and make some new friends in the process. I will add you as a friend. Keep in touch.

First I want to say I truly feel your pain and frustration, especially when you know your case is a solid approval. So sounds like you must obtain a CIVA card, i think it's like $15.00 and purchaseable through Sogebank.
Ok I read a lot on VJ and according to the posts from the Haiti portal it is best to attend the interview with the beneficiary because if not there is a chance they will ask for the petitioner to attend the second interview. If that's all they want is for you to attend then it sounds like you should attend.
Did your husband recieve a 221g form? Did they keep his passport? It may take some time to get through to CIVA. 1 card gives you 5 inquiry requests.
If you can get notarized affidavits from family members and friends who are aware and attended your wedding you can also use those as additional evidence.
I am sorry for your dissappointment today. I will keep you in my prayers. I hope your situation is resolved quickly.

We call twice a day!!
Twice a day???? Do you get a different answer? I see you got an an update today 60 days? Are you calling DOS or the Embassy directly?
-
I am with you Lexie, there should give a time frame. If you are not truly grounded yo u can literally go batcrazy waiting for a call, an email heck an approved visa.....but guess what the only thing that calms the anxiety is prayer. It works for me. Have you called for your update yet?
-
Wow Yankee4real,
I went through the same thing 10/31/11 and the hardest part is the wait. My faith is what is keeping me sane so please prepare for the wait. As others have stated there is no definate time frame. Do your best to read the different threads similar to your case to be ready for any next steps you may need to take depending on the results. Don't just sit and wait....prepare yourself while waiting. I too wish for a speedy approval for you and yours.
It wasn't till we recieved the 221g did I knoiw it has it's own section on VJ. The info can get quite conflicting because everyone adds their thoughts and advice so try to weed through information pertinent to you and your case. Try not to overwhelm yourself though.

It looks like your AP will be short since your fiance was approved. Hang in there. think you two will be together sooner rather than later. My prayers are with you and yours.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Dont ask dont tell....

My fiance went for her Fiance Visa interview to the London Embassy today. We had spent quite a while making sure our checklist was updated, she had everything with her, etc. I am a United States citizen.
When she got there, at the first window they only asked her for several documents, the birth certificate, police certificate, affadavit form (they gave her the supporting documents back), and maybe 1 other document. She gave them these documents. After 15minutes, she was called to the second window, where the only question they asked her was "How did you two meet." After she answered that question, they made her take an oath that everything she had provided was true, which she did. Immediately after taking this oath, the lady informed my fiance that this case is under review. My fiance was confused and tried to provide all of the additional documents, including bank statements, etc. but the lady said no this is a decision made by authorities and we will hear back anywhere between a few weeks to a few months. My fiance said that the lady was hospitable.
What is going on here? Has anyone dealt with a similar experience or heard of anything? Or maybe you haven't but you have some feedback or insight into why this can be? I am a US Citizen, never been accused of anything but a speeding ticket, solid credit and solid job, solid everything - I don't understand what is going. Please help me understand this? We have people flying in from all over for a reception for her arrival - and now we can't even do anything and people booked non-refunable flights! What is going on?????????????????
ZachinCalifornia I know your pain and confusion. The same situation happened with my fiance and I last week.
AP can be random or they may need more time to review newly submitted documents. You can call DOS and see if there is anything else they need from you for sure. I am truly sorry you and yours are going through this, just know you are not alone. Do some research in the AP forum and see how others are dealing. I didn't know this forum existed till our case was put on AP.
Remember being in AP is not a denied visa so you may still be in good shape once your AP is over. Did they keep her passport or did they return it to her?

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Yes NVC told me at 1st they had it and then today she red my packet 4 and when i told her i sent it in she said that my packet is already packed up ready to go to Haiti and they can't open it now lol just bring the Copy or get another one done lol so much help!! lol not!!!
Ok if I understand your post correctly NVC stated it's ok to bring just the copy to the interview....right? If this is the case then you should be ok but if they said copy or original that is different because remember at the interview all originals documents are returned to you and they keep the copies once the originals have been verified.
Now when you get packet 4 it is accompanied by a checklist and if something is missing/lost they tell you to bring the missing documents to the interview. The checklist is very specific when asking for copies or originals and some cases they ask for both so they can return originals to you. I would call NVC again and be certain of what they want from your husband . Leave nothing to chance girl. Get it right the first time around for a successful interview.
