So you will have a justice of the peace wedding then a big one?
I am from Boston, Ma.

I guess you never know... Just always be prepared. I am glad I read that.
-
Yes indeed. It's the Affidavit of Support.

Wow very sorry to hear that. You do need to give more info or else not much anypne can tell you except, not enough to prove your relationship.

3 thumbs up for you and yours.

Had my interview this morning and after a pretty painless process I was approved.
Just want to say thanks to everyone who answered the questions I had during the process. It helped a lot and I really appreciated it.
Now on to the USA!!
Congratulations

Hey Mani0118,
6 months seems reasonable however you can never tell where something can set you back. I was stressing like you when I first started but then I got some good advice and so I will be married at city hall onnce my fiance arrives and have a grand ole Haitian wedding summer of 2012. That was the least stressful way to do it for me.

Yeah you made it through step 1, NOA1. Next you wait some more for NOA2 that one takes time. I went through Vermont. Let me know if you have questions. I am here to help.

Hi VJ's
Dear Mr. XXXXX,
This is a follow up to your inquiry below.
On October 7, 2011, the Vermont Service Center approved your petition. You should be receiving the approval notice soon.
For future status inquiries of a petition or application filed at this Center you may want to utilize our National Customer Service Center by calling 1-800-375-5283. If you would like to obtain forms, filing instructions, case status or schedule an appointment with your local office, please visit our website at www.uscis.gov. You must use the InfoPass Appointment Scheduler prior to visiting your local office.

Words cannot describe the feeling. After 7 months and change of visa limbo, our petition has been approved! For everyone who is still waiting for their NOA2, I know it sucks to read posts like this and be told to have faith and to be patient. Its terrible being away from your loved one but the day DOES come. I never thought it would but it has. The day you least expect it is when it happens. GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THE HELP!!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
Congratulations

Hi, I have the same problem!!> Nothing for me too!!. Since 9/23.. When others received their well after us..??.. I mean why does NVC has to be a pain ALSO??.. Cant we just get this NUMBER and move on?.. pffff.. Im getting tired of ALL this... I want the number!.. So that I can start getting an appointment.. And having my baby here and planing my wedding.. And leave with my baby..
Is there anything that we can do to get it faster??..
NB: When you get the NVC # then you can call the embassy, start doing your medical and police certificate right??..
Please advise.
It depends on your Embassy....check your portal and Embassy website for this info. We had to wait for packet 3 to get the documentation needed to do the medical. So it's different for certain countries.

I think you can call as often as you like. I would keep calling until you get that case number. They say it takes two weeks minimum but some people get a case number sooner and some a lot later do don't give up...Good luck

I wanted to offer a quick summary of our interview today. My husband, baby and I went to the Philadelphia field office to adjust status from a K1 visa to a permanent resident. our appointment was at 10am so we arrived at around 9:30. After a search by some friendly and efficient guards we headed to the third floor. There were quite a few people already waiting. I turned in our appointment letter and we sat down. We were joined awhile later by our translator because my husband is not yet proficient in English. We waited until about 11:50 when we were finally called. We saw a couple of couples taken and interviewed separately. Also a few folks with lawyers, maybe 1/5th of all applicants.
Our interviewer was pretty much what I anticipated, not overly friendly, but also not mean.. typical government worker type, if not a bit more educated than other govt workers I've come across. She mentioned that she had a law degree. I don't know if this is standard for this level of officer. She commented on the baby and asked how old she is as we walked to her office. In the office she made us comfortable and we were all sworn to tell the truth. Our translator was asked to sit behind my husband. She asked for his birth certificate and passport, my proof of citizenship and our marriage document.
She asked me how I met my husband. If I had traveled to Haiti for work or pleasure, how many times I went. Then she asked my husband if he was there for the birth of our child. I told her I had a photo from the delivery and she asked for all the photos. These were all photos of the relationship since my hubby got here. She loved our birth announcement photo and said when she was done she was going to show everyone in the office the baby. She did ask if we had any photos of us in Haiti and I said that we had those at the first interview and I hadn't thought to bring them. She asked my husband one-by-one the questions on the AOS form, ie. have you committed a crime, etc. She asked him is address and phone number and asked if i could also be reached there. She said that everything looked good and that we should get the card within 4-6 weeks but that it would probably be sooner than that.
The whole meeting lasted about 15 minutes. We did not give our joint bank statements, rental agreement, or other documents to substantiate our relationship (other than our newborn baby!).
Three hours later I got an email from USCIS saying that the AOS is approved! w00t!
Thanks so much to all the generous folks who've offered me excellent advice over the past year!
Congratulations, that was an inspiring story.

I just got the RFE letter from USCIS, as well, they asked me to submit tickets, copy of passports entry and exist stamps, photos must be handwritten of date and place, and Affidavit statements of two person. I wanted to ask you guys that SHOULD I SEND MORE than what they asked for? or just send in what they just request?
I had the same RFE requesting evidence...I sent in more than they requested to show my story...
If you have what they are requesting but more would help them understand your relationship then send in more.
Good luck, I am sure once you submit the evidence requested.....you will soon see your approval letter.

Hey VJers,
For those of you who have completed this part of the k1 process in Haiti (packet 3)
, is there a way to pay the consular fee ($350.00) online or is Sogebank the only way?
Thanks in advance.

Frustration over... Whew...
Apparently, I should know better than to rely on the automated system.
Spoke to a CSR @the NVC. He asked me info about myself and the beneficiary. And I asked about the Case number, he provided.
Said was recived on Sep 9, 2011 and Left Sep 12, 2011.
YAY!
Mumbai Embassy: Here we come...
Chigs
Congrats... after I read your post I also called NVC...to my suprise our packet was forwarded on Friday 9/9/11
I was shocked. The csr was very nice. So thanks for the update...

Ok so I called today and NVC has my petition.....
however they told me it takes 10-20 business days to load it in their system...
. So I questioned the rep "does it mean it will take 10-20 days to for my petition to arrive in Haiti?" Then she asks well what type of petion is it? I tell her K1" So she says again "It takes 10-20 days to load it in our system....before we can discuss the case with you. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I chuckled then asked when will it be forwarded to Haiti?" again she repeats the famous script " It takes 10-20 days...yadda yadda yadda. Is there anything else I van help you with?" I answered politely and said I will call back and find someone elses who can help...because she was not answereing my question...She told me to have a nice day...
I thought once the case gets to NVC it is then forwarded to the U.S. Embassy in Haiti within days...The good news is it is there...One step closer. I am going to review the timeline to see how long it takes for NVC to forward the case to the Embassy...Hang in there. You all will get the next peice of news you are waiting for soon...

First comes the excitement "We're getting Married"
Then comes the stress " We're getting Married"

Just wondering what VJers are doing when it comes to that special day. I know some people have all thier wedding plans ready to execute within thier 90 day window and others are still trying to figure it all out.
Take the poll and see how many people feel the same way you do.
