Hi Jim&Nay, First of all you dont need to wait for packet 3. In fact my fiance actually never received his
All it is is a link as mentioned to the forms you need to print out and send here: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.htm
First thing to do is call the DOS at (202) 663-1225, press 1, then 0 to speak to a human then give them your LND number and ask them if London has logged your case. If they have then it is safe to mail in the forms. You can send it before your medical as long as it's logged.
Here is a list of what you need to send in if you have all your documents like police certificate, I-134 with supporting documents an your medical scheduled (thanks to VJ member Nick-Nich):
DS-2001 Readiness for Interview form
Include a cover letter with your email address and if applicable the date of your wedding and date of your medical examination. (Example below)
DS-230, part 1 (1 copy) (Sign it) That means only page 1-2. K1's do not need p.3-4
DS-156 (2 copies) (Sign it). It generates a barcode when you print it.
DS-156K (1 copy) (Do Not sign it) You sign at the interview. It’s an oath.
DS-157 (2 copies) (No signature)
That’s all that must be sent in. No personal documents like police certificate, I-134 or passport photos are mailed in despite what DS-156K says. London prefers to collect them at the interview. You don't need to send a new letter of intent or proof of a relationship. You can bring those to the interview but you can almost be certain they wont ask for them.
Thats it. Then you can pester the DOS and see if your packet three has been logged and if your medical has been logged after you have it and once they are pester them again to see if a interview date has been scheduled
Keep us posted and Best of Luck!!
EDIT: Nich-Nick beat me to it. I knew she would

Interview tomorrow, absolutely nervous as hell!
So exciting!! Take some deep breaths, I have read nothing but good things about the London Embassy. My Fiance's is on Wednesday and he is freaking out too as am I. Best of luck and please report back with the news and a review!!
Yeah its being so close to the end that makes every day feel like a week haha. Thanks little_g! Good luck with wednesday. Report back!
Thank you and we will

My fiance and I talk on Skype all the time. We have been dating "across the pond" for over 4 years so I guess we have practice with being apart, but once you have committed to making this K1 jump the months and days can sometimes feel like years!! Still I can promise you this, when you get to be further into it and you look back at how far you've come there is a sense of great achievement. It's almost like earning a K1 Badge lol
Wednesday is the interview and it's so close I can taste it!! But today felt like a WEEK!
Anyway there are so many wonderful suggestions on here. Busy yourself and spend as much time with your partner on skype, email, phone whatever you can to keep a connection to them and support each other. Prepare yourselves for the next steps post NOA2 and then AOS and so on! Best wishes and good luck on your journey

What code did you e-mail them with, your case number? What did you put in the subject header
Thanks
When you phoned them and they gave you the Londoniv email address did they not give you an email code too? They gave us a code which I think is case specific and may expire and we put the code in the subject of the email we sent. The body of the email said this (minus the edits obviously for privacy)
SUBJECT:
subject was the code I received
EMAIL:
Case Number: LNDxxxxxxxxx
Beneficiary: Name Here (Passport #: xxxxxxxxx)
Petitioner: Name Here
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to inquire about the possibility of rescheduling our interview to an earlier date. Our wedding is August 6th and (Fiance's Name) plans to fly out on the 29th of July. Currently the embassy interview date is set for the 25th of July and we fear that the Visa will not arrive in time for his travel arrangements. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Kind Regards,
My Name

Well keep us posted on what happens please. We booked a flight ourselves but the cost of flights was on the rise and seats were dwindling. My thoughts were if worst case scenario happened we would pay the change fee to switch the date and still pay less than if we booked a few days before. Best of luck, I got my fingers crossed tight for you both!
-
I'd wait and see what happens this week. If you don't hear back by say Thursday I'd call again. Do you have a flight booked?
-
Hi there, Firstly a few questions... When is your interview date? When is your wedding? Is this a big planned thing with caterers etc? Also when did you send the email? All important to help you out
To answer your question yes I did email them for the same reasons. MY DS-2001 had the travel and wedding dates on the cover letter. Did yours? In the end I emailed them with the code and requested a bump up due to the dates mentioned on my cover letter. It was set for the 25th they moved it to the 13th. He is due to fly out on the 29th and wed on the 6th of August.
You wont hear till Monday at the least now. I heard back the next day but someone else on here didn't hear back for a week and didn't get a date change but their request and situation was not the same as yours.

Welcome to our wold lol! Best wishes for a smooth and rapid process!

Here is a link to all the reviews for the Indonesian Embassy. Best of luck to you both!

A certified Bank Check from his bank is free and he may be able to check with the bank to see if it cleared. He also gets a carbon copy of it for his records which he needs to keep just in case anything happens he has proof of payment. Money orders are ok too just with those you pay a little extra for. Either way best of luck with your Visa Journey!!
-
So a week after I emailed the embassy they replied today and said they can't bring my date forward.
Seems so unfair considering how many people they've helped out on this thread alone.
The long wait begins.
Sorry to hear this jingo. Did you give them a date of travel or a wedding date? I know they did it for us most likely only because we are getting married on the 6th and the flight is on the 29th. The date of the 25th for an interview didn't give enough time to get the visa. Either way I know it sucks but please don't lose sight of how far you have come and how close you really are!

There is no think this is an APPROVAL! Congrats
Quote: "On July 6, 2011, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)..."
-
My fiance visited me twice after filing the I-129F(Note: he visited many times before hand). Both times his POE was in JFK and was somewhat painless. His first trip post NOA1 the officer made him hold his breath for a minute because before he stamped his passport he said, "You'll remember me 10 years from now when you look back on this day" *pause* "You'll be sitting on your sofa with your American wife and you'll hear me saying, 'Don't get involved with American women'" *STAMP* He was in shock and just said "Uh Cheers." That scared him
His second trip the guy just stamped him through BUT he did get tugged at customs. A British Airways woman asked his name and where he was sat on the plane. At the same time a customs agent asked him the same. He said his name but blanked on his seat number. The woman walked off and started talking on a walkie and the customs agent said to another one take him
He proceeded to get searched and asked questions about what he had on him. Just as he started to feel round his bag the woman and the first customs agent came over and said "It's not him, He's clean."
Then they all just walked off. He was like, "Can I go?" They were like, "Yup, Enjoy your stay!" That was probably the weirdest entry he ever had

Jingo
Did you hear back from the embassy yet about your interview request?
-
Yes we share although I do the bulk of the posting. If it's short and to the point it's him and he signs it Jock. Maybe I should sign it Genee hehehe
With Vonage you also get a UK number to give family members to call I take it? The website is so vague. Anyone know of or ever use Magic Jack? Right now I have Skype to Go but his family cant call him on it as it's linked to my USA number.
-Genee
-
yeah we share the account pretty much like everything else, thanks for the info on vonage
thanks

Once again thanks for all that feedback everyone. As far as tax transcripts go I guess we'll see if we have 3 or not when the time comes. I asked my sister (co-sponsor) to request two more years but if she doesn't no sweat. She makes plenty of money to be a co-sponsor.
David and Katie,
I'll try to be easier on my man, he's just such a glass half empty and I'm such a glass half full kind of person so we balance each other out but with this Visa I think we knocked the pitcher off the table and spilled it everywhere lol!
Oh and I'll tell him to look both ways before rushing back to the train station too
PS. He's Manchester I think you guys are too no?
-
can someone give me some info on this vonage thing, do i buy it here in the UK or in the US?
Thanks in advance
Jock
and i use o2 international faves 3000 mins to call the US gets me a number to call Genee on and also gives Genee a number to call me, i am sure gonna miss that

- One year tax return is all that's needed, even for AOS. London will even approve without a tax return. (AOS requires it.)
- If you've got transcripts, then a W2 isn't needed.
- Something I'm not sure of for London is do you need proof of the co-sponsor's US citizenship with an I-134. I know you do for a CR1 interview with the I-864, but I don't remember anybody specifically saying they needed it with an I-134 co-sponsor in London.
- I promise you a thousand times he will not need the I-129F, photos in Times Square, or flight details. I would bring extra copies of the four DS-xxxx forms in case they got mis-filed. It's happened more than once. He did make copies??? Yes??
- Can't think of a reason to have anything from the medical exam. DS-3025 can be used for AOS, but no reason for it at the interview. They have all the original four medical forms straight from Knightsbridge.
- Interview letter
- Receipt from paying the visa fee in advance.
We have the tax transcripts for one year. The instructions for the I-864 say that it needs 3 years are you certain we only need one when we file it with the AOS? The instructions for the I-864 also says the co-sponsor needs to provide proof of citizenship but does not mention it anywhere in the instructions for the I-134 so I am pretty certain it isn't needed for the interview, just for when we file for the AOS.
Extra copies of the Packet 3 DS-XXXX forms is a good idea. I know we kept a copy of each and he has them in his interview packet.
Interview letter and receipt of Visa fee payment we have too I forgot to list that so good to mention for others reading this.
Guess all we need know is nerves of steel to make it through till the Visa is in hand! hehehe
Thanks again Nich for the quick reply and sound advice!

We're the 11th@9AM. Friend us and we'll keep you posted. I have bank statements, investments, paycheck stubs. I am self-employed, so worried there. We're nervous, too. Can't handle much more.
I cut and saved your list. Will check. Seems about right. Do you have copies of forms?
Ohhh we have have copies of copies, lots of copies and even copies of the original I-129F lol
Please keep us posted and GOOD LUCK!
It's nerve wracking isn't it? Just cant wait for it to be over and approved

From Straight Talk's "FAQ" page:
Can I make international calls from my Straight Talk phone?
At this moment Straight Talk solely offers nationwide services.
I got one word for that, "Boooo!"
-
Take a look at Straight Talk from Walmart.
$30/mo + tax (I hate that "plus tax" thing) gets you something like 400 minutes and unlm. texts.
Free phone if you don't mind having the basic one.
No contract aka PAYG.
Agree, cell phones are poor value for money in the US - paying for incoming text messages SUCKS. Backwards!
Just remember and I may be wrong as it's been a few months since I looked into walmarts plan, but I am pretty sure it is domestic only. So no texts or calls to the UK from the mobile. If that is important then it is wise to investigate that one deeper.
And yes paying for incoming anything SUCKS. I remember when I first met my fiance and I learned in the UK that you don't pay for incoming calls or texts I was like "WHAT?!?!" I felt so cheated and robbed by the mobile companies here

So my Fiance asked me to post here to make double doubly sure we got enough and everything he's going to need for the interview. So here we go, he has...
- 3 Passport Photos US size (he also has 3 UK sized ones too. I know they want US size)
- I-134 forms, one from me and one from our co-sponsor with letters from employer, tax transcripts from 2010 (I know we need 3 for AOS but for this I-134 is just one year enough?), W2, and a letter from the bank.
- Photos of us together through the years and a few where we aren't in the same picture but there is one of him and then one of me clearly in the same spot like Times Square NY for example.
- A printout of all flights he has taken from his sky miles statement for British Airways and Delta.
- Photo Copies and originals of: Long Birth Certificate, Passport, Police Certificate, Divorce Decree and Documents from his Medical at Knightsbridge
That's it. He is terrified of getting a 221-g and he's making me nervous cause I'm usually so positive and he is always waiting for the worst lol.
Hopefully we can set his mind at ease about the interview!

I sent my Packet 3 back in today. And also had my medical last week.
I have a slight concern though that i put on my cover note that my wedding is gonna be Aug 12th. Basically i did this because Ashley is visiting me in England on the 11th for 2 weeks and we;re traveling a bit of Europe so ill need my passport!!! so i bumped it up by a month hoping to have it before then, but now im worried im not going to receive her tax return and i134..... shes still waiting for the transcript.
So if i do get an early interview, i may just go along with a transcript, and her paystubs... (she earns $30000 a month)
I am very worried you wont get your interview in time to get your passport back for your traveling. It took well over 2 weeks (after being signed for) to be logged and an interview date given. But maybe if you get your date you can request to bump it to after your travels? Don't forget that after the interview it can take anywhere from 5 to 10 days to get your visa/passport back too. I'll keep fingers crossed for you keep us posted. Also just FYI, It took 10 days to get my tax transcripts in the mail. I then sent them via USPS Priority Express and it got there in 5 days. I sent them on a Monday and he got them that Friday.
