My fiancee' has been told that she could not make a medical exam appointment until she rec'd the police certificate, than later told that she could make the appointment before receiving it, but had to bring the police certificate with her. The instructions on the Knightsbridge Doctors PDF file mention, passport, pictured DL, passport photo, but nothing about bringing the police certificate. Do the clerks know what they're talking about? I'm trying to help her avoid postpoining the exam, needlessly since it may not arrive by her medical exam appointment time. Experience advice, anyone?
Yes you must have the Police certificate to go to the medical in London. I know it says nothing on the websites and we have no idea why, believe me it has been discussed. She may be allowed to go but if she doesn't have the Police certificate she will need to fax it when she gets it and they will not send her medical results to the embassy until they receive it. Easier for her to just bring it with her. A copy of it too btw and the original. Always bring both so one can be left behind but the original retained. We think this has to do with looking for signs of mental health issues. Just a guess pointed out by some. Best of luck to you both!!

wow it is all starting to add up... im gonna have to sell my grandma at this rate
i know it will all be worth it though.
thank you little_g
4 days huh... bet you cant wait??
You're very welcome, and don't sell your grandma! hehehe
You bet I cant wait! After all the work and waiting and stress it's finally time and I'm dancing
Buuuuut it isnt over yet, there is still AOS (Adjustment of Status) and then after that down the line Removal of Conditions and so on
but at least for those parts we will be together

so any jabs i need can be done at the medical?? i guess that makes it easier
will i be ok applying for my police certificate now or should i wait until closer to the time?? the I-129F will be submitted within the next day or 2
Yes you can get any jabs you need at the medical. Here is all the info you need regarding that: http://photos.state.gov/libraries/unitedkingdom/164203/cons-visa/iv_medical_letter.pdf or here as well http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html
The police certificate I would get now or in a few months. It is good for a year after it is issued. I'd maybe wait 2-3 months but in the end it is up to you

thank you for all your help... this was starting to be the most scariest thing i have ever done but getting answers from people that have been through it all makes it so much easier
do all medicals take place in London do you know?? and am i right in thinking that certain inoculations cost too??
Yes the medical is only done at 2 locations at Knightsbridge Doctors in London near the Bond Street Station. The medical itself is £210.00 or if you need both required jabs then it works out to £273.00. You cant make a medical appointment till you have a case number and your police certificate. You will get a case number with your NOA2. Hope that made sense hehehe let us know if you need more help

Just received my visa!
Yay! Congrats!!

Vanessa and Joanna thanks for your replies, I feel a little better knowing that if I must, but we'll see, but if I must put unknown it wont grind to a halt my AOS.
Darnell, thanks for the link. I have used that link already before and did it already but I will call them today and see what they can tell me.
I just was very worried if I couldn't get it as I don't have his SSN. We will see
Oh and yes I meant i-864 as you all know. I don't know why i typed 865
Thanks again for everyones input

Nich-Nick... you out there?
-
Three years of tax returns are not required. You have a choice to send three years if you want, or just the previous year's. Good luck.
Thank you for your reply, I know three years to send aren't required to physically send just the previous year but on the actual form it asks you to list the past three years income and for 2008 I don't have that information
We just had our interview and they only asked for 2010 tax returns. You should be ok with your co-sponser information along with what ever you provide to prove your status in 2010 which would confirm why you need a co-sponser. good luck!
So maybe under 2008 just put "unknown" Thanks for your help and advice

Hi there, I have all my ducks in a row sort of speak for after our wedding on August 6th. My question is this. I don't earn enough at my job so my sister who earns plenty is going to be our joint sponsor. We have all her information for her I-865 but for mine I cant get a hold of my tax transcript for the tax year of 2008 (my 3rd basically) due to the fact that it was filed by my ex husband jointly and he was head of household at the time (we were legally separated and I never even saw it just signed it when it went out the door). I tried to request it from the IRS but because it was a joint file and not in my SSN I couldn't get it. To answer ahead of time to get this information from my ex would be very difficult if not impossible. So my question is this. Since I don't earn enough in the first place and I have a joint sponser do you think if I notate on the third year something to that effect we would be ok or get an RFE? Any advice would be appreciated!

Yep, depending on which delivery service you want, just over £14 for normal delivery, over £30 for between 6am and 8am, long as you dont live off mainland UK or in the hills of Scotland

Well, my interview was on Friday and it was approved!
Rather a surreal feeling after all this waiting. I will leave a review soon but all in all everything was fine. The exciting bit is the queueing and going through security, past the guards with guns etc., but once you're inside it really is just like any council office in the country: it's just an admin base.
From queueing to back to my hotel it only took an hour and a half! I was expecting several hours. Both interviewers/officers I spoke to were very nice and I had laugh with each of them. They really only asked when we met and what Chris does for a living. Also, I would say that I stayed in the Lincoln House Hotel, less than 10 mins walk away, and thought it was great: spotlessly clean, comfortable and everything you'd need. Plus, they held my bag for the rest of the day and you can get a discount by paying in cash. Might be useful for some people to know!
All in all, a great experience
YAY! Congrats!! Jock and I have been wondering what happened with you guys
So happy to hear it was approved!!!

...but the cost of paying for a ticket to the US sounds expensive!
EDIT: but the cost of paying for a ticket to the US for the same day sounds expensive!
-
Ok so when i head for my interview an lets pray get approved, when i go to pay the courier can i get it sent to a different address from whats on my visa, and when i do recieve the visa can i book a flight for that day or day after or do i have to wait a certain amount of time?
When you go to the interview they will give you a pink form to fill in for the DX Secure courier desk. It is my understanding you can have it delivered anywhere and I guess you can leave the same day it arrives but the cost of paying for a ticket to the US sounds expensive!
The only choice you have is before 8am or regular delivery. It can take 3-10 business days. Jock's got to him on a Friday and his interview was that Wednesday but another on here it took 2 weeks and someone else almost a week. It's random and maybe related to how soon after you are approved that the Visa is actually produced. Anyway to answer your question directly you dont need to wait, you've waited long enough, once the visa is in hand you can go!
Also good luck at your interview!

You don't need a job. She makes more than enough and that's all you have to worry about. Trust us on this.
My fiance is from Manchester. He put City: Manchester State: Greater Manchester. For City and Country of birth he put - Town/City: Glasgow and State/Country: Scotland Country of Citizenship: UK. Just to give you an example
Typed or handwritten doesn't matter. The computer is easier though.
Only question I have is this... she needs to do this and send it to a United States address, not you
so are you doing this for her to then send to her? Cause you can fill out the PDF typed and email it to her to print. No where on the I-129F do you need to sign. Just letting you know. It's so confusing believe me I know. Just putting that out there for you. Feel free to ask as many questions as you need. It's all one big learning process.
-
Also the fee to file the I-129f is $340.00 then when it is time for the embassy interview you pay for the visa via phone and the visa costs $350.00. After you are approved and get married you file for AOS (adjustment of Status) and thats the biggie as it is $1070.00.
Welcome to the Journey! Best of luck you and your fiance! We're all here to help each other
Be patient!! It takes a long time but is well worth it

I forgot to mention that when you call press 1 then 0 to speak to a person.

Ok, will do.
Are the DOS open to call on weekends or will it be Monday now?
I misread the instructions thinking of it as complete (not send) the forms in duplicate which I did, god what a stupid mistake
Thank you Nich-Nick.
Don't beat yourself up over it. You arent the first and not the last. It happens! We're human right?
The DOS is closed on weekends. They used to be open on weekdays till midnight but that must have changed cause yesterday I tried to call as a test for someone and the recording now says Mon-Fri, 8:30am - 5:30pm. The number is 202 663-1225. Have your fiance call from the US. It is a Washington DC number. Have your LND number ready and ask what Nich-Nick said, if you are "Interview Ready"

You were supposed to send two DS-156 forms with packet 3.
Direct from the Packet 3 page on the embassy website:
Complete the Form DS-230-Part 1, Form DS-156 and DS-157 for each family member applying for a visa. In addition, the principal applicant is also required to complete form DS-156K. Note: Forms DS-156 and DS-157 must be completed in duplicate...
Don't get discouraged though make a photo copy of the one you have to keep and when you go to the interview present the original one saying it was accidentally omitted from your packet. Must of fallen off desk, etc..
I think you'll be fine!

Congrats!!
Petition approved! NOA2 date: July 22, 2011.
Many thanks to everyone in this thread for the help, advice and conversation - delighted to be joining you all now in the latter stages :thumb:
FINALLY!!! YAY!!
It's about time they woke up and sent you that NOA2! Was there any indication at all as to why it took so long to happen? Either way I am thrilled for you to finally be able to make these final last steps and start your new life

Hey folks. I was looking into the documents I will need for package 3 and when I was looking at the DS-156K it said I have 2 include police records. I was under the impression I needed those for the medical, not for package 3. Anyone help me out??
Yes you need to fill out the DS-156K, police certificates, birth certificates, affidavit of support documents, passport photos, etc... are not mailed in despite what DS-156K says. London prefers to collect them at the interview.
Make sure you make copies of your police certificate and your birth certificate so you can present the originals but submit the copies. You will need the police certificate, 1 US passport sized photo and your passport to attend the medical.
Feel free to ask for more help if you need it

Tax Transcript
in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures
Posted
Forget the Per Computer stuff. Honestly the most important information that you need is Adjusted Gross Income. Also in regards to the 2010 tax transcripts, yes those are available
