Congrats and good luck with the rest of your journey!!

I filled out the i-129F and mistakenly thought the Child question meant immigrating children only and put none. In reality my fiance has kids from a prior marriage. It was an honest and naive (before I found Visa Journey) error. Anyway when it came time to fill in his packet 3 forms he listed his children. They are staying with his ex-wife and not immigrating although he will remain very active in their lives. My point in all this is it is not an ax in the process so breath. But he is from UK so I am not sure if it is different for Jamaica. Just put his child on the packet 3 forms when the time comes. If they ask anything about it just be honest. Also I agree, he should verify that this is his child. If it is, wouldn't he want to be a part of her life?

You MUST meet the poverty guidelines for 2011 or else have a co sponsor. Yes you must have the I-134 for yourself and a co-sponsor. that is the affidavit of support documents. It IS fraud to work before he has received an EAD (employment authorization document) he cannot work until he has that and he gets that after you marry and file for AOS. You file for your EAD with the AOS and a travel document so he can leave and go back to visit family while AOS is in process and that way the EAD and the Travel document are free. Just pay for the AOS.

I have sent off all my other forms today so all i have to do is send the DS-2001, thats the only one i didnt send. I havent got my medical appointment yet but im thinking of phoning that through soon. I will send the DS-2001 tomorrow morning first class and seeing as it is close to weekend it will probably all get there monday. I will send a cover letter with it too though explaining everything. Thanks for everyones help. Just getting all so close now and dont want it all to fluff up at the last hurdle lol
Just remember to send it off AFTER you have phones Knightsbridge and received your medical appointment. You must put your medical appointment on the cover letter or the Embassy will not schedule you an interview.
-
EDIT: In the cover letter bit, obviously omit the forms in contents that you have sent. Maybe make mention of the fact that those other forms have been submitted in a separate packet.
PS. Packet 4 is your interview letter.
PPS. You can call DOS and see when your medical is logged and all of packet 3. Once they have been logged DOS can also tell you if an interview has been scheduled even before you get your packet 4 letter.
DOS is the free number: 202-663-1225 open from 8am till midnight EST

IF you have your medical scheduled and you have sent all your forms in but the DS-2001 then I would defo send your DS-2001 out tomorrow with a cover letter. Send it first class recorded. Remember you bring your Police certificate, Birth certificate, Divorce decree (if applicable) and I-134 with supporting docs and 3 US sized passport photos to the Embassy interview with you, MAKE COPIES! They look at originals and keep the copies. At the medical you must bring your passport, police certificate and 1 passport sized photograph and vaccination records if you have them.
Here is the Cover Letter example:

I'm flying with AA out of Manchester...
Usually Jock flies out of Manchester but he connects in Heathrow anyway so he is just going to go out of Heathrow. Last time he did a connecting flight from Manchester they lost his luggage
Fortunately, eventually AA granted us money to buy him some clothes and the bag did eventually surface. But that turned him a little bit sour on the whole connecting flights thing

Got the text last night that our file is being sent to the California Service Center, yay! Now more waiting begins...
It's fun to see movement keep up the positive attitude and feel free to ask us questions as many of us have been through it or are going through it too
Try to keep an updated timeline and stay patient, it's a long process but well worth it in the end!
-
did you get the text that everyone keeps going on about from DX?
Jock never got the text and he did give his mobile number. I just kept checking with his tracking number and post code till *BING* it showed up saying that we would expect delivery on 7/15.

The time between starting K1 and interview depends from case to case, as for visiting the US on the esta (VWP) i done that twice after starting the K1 at POE i just told the officer the truth i am here visiting my fiancee and that we had started the K1 visa process.
Good Luck on your visa journey

haha, thanks for the help. so after the medical and receipt of packet 3 the interview date is issued 2 weeks after right? so if i have everything sent in by august 7th i should receive an interview date but August 21st? (in theory)
Hate to say it but in theory I am thinking more like September 6th (September 5th being Labor Day). Who knows honestly that is why the sooner the better!
-
i belive you can phone the DoS to see if it has been printed/issued, good luck

Congrats Matt and Deb. I also had my interview today and was approved. I worrired though then the consular officer said it will take 2weeks. I got scared maybe it is in administrative processing, do you how long they told Matt it will take? A bit worried.
We're at 9 days with early delivery and NADA. I think they are on vacation. Some from last week had them in 3-4 days. I would not expect it before two weeks.
When Jock had his interview they said anywhere from 5-8 days, granted he got very lucky but if it is over 8 days I would call DOS and ask if a visa has been produced. Try to find out what the hold up is. They are open till midnight EST so call now even. Let us know what happens please

Jock's was trackable at around 4pm UK time the next day. But he did say he has noticed if the interview is early in the week it looks like they get it Thursday and middle of the week interviewers get it Friday like he did. Maybe they ship them all at once? Or maybe the rumors are true that there are Visa production days? Cant remember where I read that though

It might work with O2, worth a shot. For the record I dont condone leaving masses of debt behind, we did pay off other things. Just BT can kiss our lily white *beeps*
Btw
I see you are leaving on the 29th, so is Jock you going Manchester or Heathrow?

When did all this come about?.... I returned my packet 3 on the 25th of June (MRV fee paid prior) but I didnt enclose a copy of the receipt...
Can/Will they check from their end that the fee was paid?
You don't send the receipt in you bring a print out of the MRV receipt with you to the interview along with your interview letter. You're ok
-
If you don't pay it and don't plan on moving back to the UK they cant chase you down in the US and after 6 years it goes away. If you're a few hundred quid in debt they will spend more trying to chase you. There was a thread about this I found in search (i'll try to find it again). Now if we are talking a mobile phone contract or BT then I say do what you feel comfortable with but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. If we are talking council tax or something like that thennnnnn you might want to pay up. That's just my opinion. BT wants an ridiculous amount of money from Jock to buy out his 1 year contract and he has tried to argue with them that he is moving to an area where BT cannot provide him service so the contract should void due to that (It does over here for ATT). They say no so we are giving them the two fingers. There's bad blood there anyway, they have been terrible service providers from the start

ok, i just wanted to check what would be best. if we can shorten the waiting time then thatd be awesome. We're still waiting on our hard copy of the nvc paperwork and packet 3, but we called nvc and they have assigned us a case number and sent the documents to London. Im currently in the USA so we have downloaded the paperwork for packet 3 from various links. Just the medical to book and pay the filing fee. Trying to do this so that i can spend as little time as possible in the UK so i can get back here faster!
If we "pad" the wedding date, will they grill me about it at the interview?
No you wont be grilled over it at all. If they ask you when you get to the interview (and they most likely wont) when your wedding date is just make sure you know the answer!
-
Hubby and I are preparing to mail off his DS-230 stuff soon. We don't have an interview date, but can he still schedule his medical exam and get that done ahead of time before even getting an interview date? Thank you!
This is simple to answer... Yes
Actually the medical must be scheduled before an interview is granted. You should have your police certificate for the medical too if you dont already. Then on your packet three if you are including your DS-2001 form make sure you include a cover letter with the date of your medical and other information on it. If you need one I can post an example. Good luck!!

so is it worth putting on the cover sheet that intent to travel is sooner than the wedding date? im in the middle of filling in the packet 3 forms and ready to schedule my interview. our wedding is november 18th but we have a lot to plan in the states before then and id hate to leave my fiancee to do it all while im sat waiting around
Put that your wedding date is for late September on your cover letter if you like. Many people have padded their wedding dates in the past and many will for years to come. This isn't an unusual practice.

That's odd and would irritate me too if I was in your shoes but honestly I wouldn't worry very much. I would suggest having your fiance who I am assuming is the USC call the DOS and ask if there is record of anything being sent. They are open till midnight EST. Call: 1-202-663-1225 press 1 then 0 for a human. Have your LND number handy. Keep us posted!
