Money grab by who? The US government makes no money from you reacquiring your citizenship. The PH government did not force you to become a US citizen. If you go this process you knew what was involved. Part of the (only if you want to remain a PH citizen) is reacquiring your citizenship. Just think if they didn't allow you to reacquire it?

You would need to already be a citizen to claim citizenship for your child. A non citizen cannot claim citizenship for their child.

My advice is just get it over with.

Sorry for the offense… I’m saying why make it a requirement to get a new Philippine passport just when you reacquire citizenship. Why not use the old one. I’m referring to the money grab to the Philippines… 🙄 I’m aware the us makes no money from the dual citizenship process.... Any way, it seems you took offense to a simple question. So I apologize.. I explained why I don’t “get it over with” in a separate post. So thanks for the advice.
also when I referred to applying my newborn, I can gain dual citizenship for my newborn when I reacquire my own dual citizenship,   I just add the child to my application… that’s what I was referring to… 🙄

Nothing. But eventually your PH passport will expire. If you want to retain your citizenship, why not just get it over with?

I just paid to renew it, I didn’t expect to get my naturalization interview and oath so soon. So it doesn’t expire for 10 years. 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’ll eventually file for dual citizenship when I feel i need too.. maybe after my child is born so I can apply the newborn with my application. Just seems like a money grab to make people get a new passport entirely to “reacquire” citizenship lol.

  3. I understand one must “reaquire” Philippine citizenship after naturalizing in the US… but my question is what measures are in place to make sure this is done? What prevents newly naturalize US citizens from entering and leaving the Philippines on their unexpired Philippine Passport. I know you must exit and enter the US with yiur new US Passport (now that you’re a US citzen) but what really prevents the use of the old Philippine passport if it hasn’t yet expired. Thank you.

  4. Good morning everyone! I just recently became a citizen and am now filing AOS for my mom. (I130/I485 concurrently). She was here on a tourist visa when I was scheduled for my interview and conducted my oath before she had to leave. So now we’re filing AOS for her 😁
I filed i130 online, received the reciept notice same day, and now We will be mailing her i485/i765/i131 with supporting documents this week..

I received the hard copy of the i130 receipt in the mail yesterday.

I know the majority of everyone here is probably filing for their spouse, and not a parent,  but I hope we all have a smooth process and a quick approval for those we’ve filed for.

  6. Passed the interview!! Yay! I have to come back later today for same day oath! I’m so happy! Goodluck everyone still waiting I hope you all get pass your interviews soon and can do same day oaths ! I walked in and we immediately started the civic test. Questions below. Then Reading test “who can vote” the writing test “citizens can vote”

After that he just verified the questions on my n400. He asked if I had any question. So I asked him “if I passed my civics test, can I do same day oath” he laughed and said that I asked the right question since most people assume they passed the interview and immediately ask for same day oath. He said I can do the same day oath and to come back at 3pm. He also said don’t tell anyone you’re a citizen yet cause you’re not until the oath, and don’t get arrested before 3 cause then we will have a problem lol.

The civics questions I was asked:
    What is an amendment?

what major event happen on sept 11 2001?

what movement tried to end racial discrimination?

what did Martin Luther King do?

why does the flag have 50 stars?

what is one reason colonists came to America?

before I got to my car, I got a text notice that my status had changed. The new status is

Waited till my 5th year cause of the divorce.

    filed: 07/09/22

    Field office: Los Angeles, CA

I received an email last week about a new update with my case but it didn’t show any new information.

Login in on USCIS and check your documents under this case. I bet it’s a biometrics reuse. Same thing happen to me and when I checked, it showed the new document saying they can resume my biometrics. You’ll receive the hard copy in less than a week. 😀

  8. This is for tourist visa. Thank you for answering. Do you know if she is required to have travel insurance to depart? I saw the new change that it isnt required for entry into Philippines.. but I can’t find any solid answer if travel insurance is still required to depart? Thank you

  9. Hello, my mother in law will be traveling to USA soon. She will be departing from the airport in manila. Are there any documents she will need other than her passport, visa, covid vaccination card/certificate, and negative covid test? Also is there a location inside or immediatly near the Airport where she can get a rapid test that meets the airports regulations? Thank you.

  10. Hello everyone. My mother-in-law just passed her tourist visa interview the other day, visa has been issued, so we’re expecting her to have it in hand within the next week. Does anyone have the most up to date departure requirements? My main concern is the travel insurance. When I look it up, some sources say it’s still requested, others say it isn’t. If anyone has had someone fly in the passed week, what documents did they have? Thank you.

Just a heads up everyone. I received my certified N-426 form today and submitted my N-400 online today. I will be going tomorrow to take my biometrics.

For all those in the National Guard wondering, it is possible to get your form certified while you are in RSP even before going to BCT and AIT. This was my case.

Congratulations. thank you for keeping us updated. Your progress continues to provide hope to the rest of us in similar situations. I hope youre able to be naturalized quickly and with no further problems or delays. ^_^

    Hey,

It all depends on what job you end up choosing that determines your ship date. They schedule you to ship on the nearest AIT availability.

I enlisted in October and I am shipping out in May. Another person who enlisted on the same day as me is shipping in February.

So they are no longer requiring background checks to be completed prior to shipping?

You have to go through BCT/AIT first to get it signed, people get their citizenship back in the days before going BCT and they refuse to ship or deliberately fail drug test!

Current policy allows individuals to submit the N426 regardless of time in service. It even specifically states individuals in the RSP can submit it. I think most commands just aren’t tracking the new policy.. or the rescinded/changed policies. It is sad people use this to get naturalization, and don’t follow through with their commitment to serve,  but it’s also written that those individuals that don’t fulfill their obligation can have their naturalization revoked.

    Hey all,

Just to update, I have not had any luck in getting my N-426 certified. My recruiter keeps saying it is not possible to get the form signed despite the memo. With that in mind, if you are trying to get your N-426 certified in RSP, expect an uphill battle.

Sorry to hear that. Just don’t give up. Keep bugging your chain of command. The memo gives the chain of command 30 days to return the n-426 from the date of submission. If you haven’t already, make sure it is submitted with the memorandums as most commanders probably aren’t even aware of the n426 or it’s purpose.
