  1. I typed a huge text but couldn't post lol oh well... Anyway, anyone else think is strange the asylum case because of religious beliefs? Why didn't the church (that does not even exist anymore) help her? Why did her attorney suggest that instead of taking her to the nearest police station and report the 02 rapes???? And now she is working as a nanny illegally and going to college? With what documentation???

Something does not make sense in this whole story, who is telling this story? Angelina or Brad? Somebody correct me if I am wrong with the asylum stuff.

  2. I may be wrong, correct me if I am but... Nobody thought it is strange that she is trying to get asylum through the church that, from what he said on post #5 does not even exist anymore? And the "church" did not report to the police OR her attorney that she was raped twice since she has no English skills??? Did they think that praying would change the fact that she was a victim of rape?? And now she is working illegally as a nanny?? Too many wrong things in just one story. Also, who is telling this whole story, Angelina or Brad?

The point is not if it was rape or not, ever heard on the news about fathers/uncles/grandpas/etc raping their relatives?? It does not matter if you know or not the person, if it is forced intercourse IT IS rape. Period. But anyway, she trusted Bob and yes awful he did that to her, good for her she married somebody else who is good to her BUT what the heck with the asylum because of religious beliefs? Does that even exist? Is it a real reason to be granted asylum? Please correct me if I am wrong. Something just sounds wrong about it all but best bet is a good and different attorney not a public forum.

  3. You have a passport with a K-1 visa, take all your documents received from USCIS what show you applied. Flying is easier probably than driving. If you received a drivers license just use that. Same proof for travel, my wife had no issues with at state issued DL.

Wrong answer, OP is asking about going outside the country while she has the AOS process pending and neither a GC or a travel document, it is not a domestic trip. A state driver's license will not help in this situation.

  4. You cannot travel, by air, bus, car, truck, etc, without the GC OR the travel document (Advance Parole/I-131) in hands. If you leave the country, cross the border to Mexico or whatever, USCIS will understand that you have abandoned your case and you will be no longer on AOS process and will not be able to come back to US. And somebody correct me if I'm wrong, you will have to go through the spousal visa route to be able to come back (???). DO NOT GO OUTSIDE US WITHOUT ONE OF THOSE 02 DOCUMENTS, just don't. You can go to Texas, right next to the border but if you put your toes crossing the line, trouble.

Can't you guys get a house next to the border and close to his job (but YOU will not cross it until you have GC in hand or I-131), and HE will go normally to work in Mexico and come back home (TX-US) everyday? Just an idea.

  5. Carolina—Thank you for asking about AOS. In short, have had difficult finding time to do AOS-related tasks due to: death of extremely close friend about a month ago, then Dept. of Transp. (DOT) slated our (very nice) apartment complex for demolition to make way for new highway so have been dealing with packing/moving/unpacking to new apartment, tax season, my heavy work schedule, more & etcetera. This past week another death occurred, this time in Inday’s family in the Philippines. The first death mentioned was a friend of mine, a very sweet lady, who had become Inday’s closest friend in the U.S. after Inday’s arrival in U.S. They became extremely close. Inday has been taking her death quite hard. The second death on top of the first has made things rough as well. Not to mention all the other minor trials and tribulations of life that one faces regularly in “calmer” times. Seems Inday arrived from Philippines to a a good deal of chaos, however, I am glad to report that she is doing much better than I think most would due in such a situation.

So, AOS-wise, having difficulty getting started let alone completing. However, yesterday and today, started making time to get documents gathered & assembled. Paperwork is not Inday’s forte and sresses her even in “normal” times so I don’t want to stress her much more, so I myself am doing as much as possible on my own. Over the past couple weeks, I have been studying the VJ guides and forms plus have been hanging out in the AOS forum. Looks like I can do quite a bit on my own. Finding time—even just a few minutes!--just seems to be the most difficult part. Thank you for asking. Your question is helping to motivate me. I will certainly keep you all updated.

Very exciting news about you lookinf for a house together. I hope and pray that you find something as wonderful as is in your dreams. Continuing good luck on the job hunt. Will be interested to hear how both of these searches turn out. -RK

Hey RK, my condolences to you and your wife. I hope she is doing better, things has been pretty rough on you guys but hopefully everything will work out in the best way. I bet is being hard to put the AOS package together, at least you do not need to rush with it, so it makes things easier. To be honest with you it is not that complicated, you just need time to read the guides and put the paperwork together, you will get it! Glad Inday is doing better now, maybe helping with the AOS, studying it will keep her busy and with her mind off of all the pain, praying she'll be fine.

Thanks for your wishes, not so fun to find a house to buy, everything is way over what we can afford but we are doing fine, and eventually the right thing will come. Just to be able to do this kind of thing together is a blessing and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I'm not so worried about job hunting right now, we are doing pretty good but I'm still looking. Keep us updated!

@Geor, LOL the curse is all yours!! I pass it on!! I actually would love to see Thea receiving that curse :P Little House-babies-like drinking wine instead of bottle! .... too cute! Are you excited for your flight?? :D Hope you packed everything (possible) lol

    @Looky, how's things?

  6. @Looky, damn... All I can wish is good luck to you and hope things get better, one way or another.

@RK, did you guys file for AOS yet? How's married life? Did Inday adjust good? Hope all is good.

@Andie, how are you? I hope everything is fine, did you guys file for K1 yet? (F)

@Geor, yaaay! It's coming, very soon now you will be with your loved one :)

Here is all good, trying to find a house for us, such a stress but totally worth it. We want something to keep forever, the perfect spot for both of us, we want to build our lives there, raise our children (in the future) Other than that, I'm still trying to find a job... hopefully soon :) Hope everybody is doing ok!

  7. Things with him are improving, he finally back to his senses! lol. And we already bought the tickets for us!!!   Yesterday, we caught a deal we couldn't refuse! And don't worry, will be back in the group as far as I finish up packing all my stuff here (which is a lot, lol)

Awesome, does he know you are going? Is he fine with that? I really hope so because otherwise I'll need to slap him! :P good luck, darling!

  8. Geor, OMG we were all worrying about you and wondering what happened to you. Sad to see that your trip to U.S is taking so long now and things with Dante aren't working, but I do believe you guys were meant to be and  another baby?? Congratulations! As Looky and Dante's mom said, you need to get THERE, by his side, and once distance is over things start to get better if you truly love each other.

I'm here hoping everything works out fine for you and Sebas (and Dante), keep us updated, we do really care about you, girl! And tell him that after 4 years, 1 son and another baby to come...would you really flirt with his best friend, right in front of him? Dante, duuh! come on man!

@Looky, good luck on Loretta's interview!

  9. EAD/AP APPROVED!!!!!!   I can't believe I'm gonna be able to do normal stuff like everybody else, work and help my household, it was driving me crazy but thank God it came today the approval!! Does anyone knows how long it takes to receive it in the mail? I am just so happy right now, husband is happy, life is good!!!! Good luck to everyone else waiting, your time will come!

  10. Hey guys, anyone else with good news? I forgot how I really don't know how to wait :( I want to work and help with my income but I can't, not even get a drivers license. Its hard to see life passing by and you're stuck in the same place but I have hope & faith that sooner or later something will come anyway.

Congrats to the ones with, at least, one document in hand! And good luck to the rest of us waiting!

  11. Let's put it simple ok?

First, this section of the form is basically 1st grade mathematics..

If zero (0) would have been entered there in the first place, the final household size would be completely correct and accurate as to showing that it's you, your wife, and 2 kids. The reason this ALLLL happened is because your attorney threw a LETTER in a numerical box, which is going to immediately raise a question and make the officer "adjudicating" your form think "####### IS THE R FOR?!" Putting an "R", "Q", "P" "C" "#" "!", is all going to bring the same outcome, because of the simple purpose of that section of the form. It is designed according to how they want it to be, and throwing an "R" in there is just completely wrong. No matter what he meant by the "r", if he meant anything at all with it, it does not matter. They want to know the total household size, that's what it comes down to. They even give you a little box to put your sum of the previous numbers into, to make sure you are correct with your first grade math. Now, everyone is on here arguing over whether or not it was a mistake, typo, etc. which is also completely unnecessary, and somehow, you just let the attorney get mad that you are questioning his human error, and put trust into him being right. I say he's stupid and he should know by now that it's only meant to have a number in that little box. The final simple fact is, you would not be on here arguing and nobody else would be arguing with you for an eternity, if he had SIMPLY entered ZERO.

The rest of you should stop bringing up more to argue about as well. End it. The mistake was made no matter what and you have to wait for the outcome, and the only intelligent thing to do if you get an RFE again or denial is to do it yourself and make sure that little "R" is NOT IN ONE OF THOSE BOXES. Unfortunately none of this solves your problem but its clear that for a while now, nobody is trying to help solve any problem, just argue. Good luck to you and I swear if I was in your position I would have been pretty pissed off over the "r" lol. I had no experience with paperwork, especially of this level involving the government and immigration... I was also scared to death the whole time I was putting together the I-129F petition to bring my fiancee, now my wife, here to be with me. I took my time putting it together and stressed over a lot, but I just paid attention to detail and took advice, and we're now currently waiting for the rest of her AOS and had absolutely no RFE whatsoever along the way (knock on wood).

I think if I had paid an attorney and then realized that many people did it on their own with no RFE or even one RFE, I'd be sitting here today wishing her and I had that extra money to ourselves right now. Here's my 2 cents, since everyone else has no problem giving theirs, even when it's not helping, I figured I'd post this because it's already gone way too far.

    Good luck,

    Matt

  12. Biometrics was really easy, took long to find a place to park than inside the building! But very nice and friendly officers there, my husband and I arrived there a couple hours before my actual appointment, no problem at all. Within 15 minutes we were done and going home.

Loved Pittsburgh and got to eat brazilian food!!! I missed it so bad, specially guarana :( Yesterday I received an update that they are processing my I-485, hopefully won't take too long, what I am really hoping to get soon is the Work Permit. Can't wait to be able to work, drive, etc.

Happy for the ones who are almost done with this process! Good luck everybody!
