But why would anyone listen to anything Paul has to say on the subject when it's so blatantly obvious he doesn't understand a darn thing about the topic? First he refers to MRSA as a viral infection- it's not, it's bacterial. Secondly he keeps obsessing over MRSA as though it's the end all issue with regards to food safety in the US- it isn't. There's a whole gamut of other nasty sh!t, causing food borne illness here, that cost the US over $152 billlion in 2009. That's no trifling amount, by any stretch. Food safety is a significant issue, regardless of what dr Paul thinks.

Yeah everyone can have an individual opinion about the correlations and outcomes. But some of them are worth significantly less than others.

Maybe I've misunderstood, but I don't think that in threads like these Paul is trying to say that he rejects the conclusion of studies that find the correlation between two different variables statistically significant. After that relationship has been "proven", it is then up to individual opinion as to whether the correlation is sufficiently strong and the outcome sufficiently negative to warrant no longer engaging in the risky behavior. Paul's opinion does not affect public health policy regarding second hand smoking and MRSA containment.

Just because things don't matter to you or you don't think they're worthy of research/study, does not mean they are insignificant. Your critical thinking skills have determined there is not adequate justification to accept the conclusions of many studies posted on VJ. Groups (not just you) of highly educated scientists who have studied these concepts for years have used their critical thinking skills to determine there is adequate justification to accept these conclusions are true. You think this stuff is insignificant because you don't really know anything about it except for the numbers. I think it is significant (not just this thread, but threads in general that you just write off) because I have a background in science and I perform scientific research on a daily basis.
I applaud you for coming up with your own conclusion to the data, but your opinion against the opinions of scientists is going to get shot down when all you ever say is it is "insignificant". Critical thinking also involves backing up your "theory" with actual data that goes along with what you say. The data you present never backs up what you're trying to say is insignificant.

For a start, as per your own silly words, Libya is not a random country and the UN nor the US, tend to drop bombs on random targets. Be a little more specific in customizing your rants.

As in, thinking significance is only what you think it should be- something you seem to excel at in your interpretations here. At least you owned your perspective on that and conceded that it was your opinion. An important consideration to the topic at hand.

Its been shown before that statistical interpretation of 'hard' numbers when it comes to epidemiology isn't your forte. Just a reminder.

I'd say your needs are very much the issue here. It's about how childish you're willing to be.

Hmmm I see. So it's ok for you to make assumptions, but not OK for me to do the same.
At least my assumptions arise from the direct implication of your words. My assumptions are reasonable. Yours are not.

Sorry Sir but what made Israel today is the occupation of the Palestinian Land, and look at the definition of Building settlements, if you own a land and you build on it, it would not be called building settlements and you would not be called a settler.

I have noticed that, but the numbers of protesters are still in the hundreds, i think they need to build up more to get to the point of revolution

Zero Sum reacted to one...two...tree in Poll: Public already losing patience with new Congress
WASHINGTON — Once again, the public is getting increasingly disgusted with Washington.
It sees a failure to adopt remedies for even the most basic, pressing issues of the day, as Congress struggles to craft a federal budget. And incumbents are getting worried about the political implications.
"It's hurting some of us," said Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, who's up for re-election next year. "They blame everybody."
A new Pew Research Center poll shows that about half of Americans think the debate over spending and deficits has been "generally rude and disrespectful."
There's even bipartisan agreement — 48 percent of Republicans and Democrats have that view, as well as 57 percent of independents. President Barack Obama signed legislation Friday to provide funding to keep the government open until April 8, the sixth such temporary extension in the 6-month-old fiscal year.
Pew surveyed 1,525 adults from March 8-14. The poll's findings suggest the political losers so far have been Republicans, who rode a wave of voter irritation to win control of the House of Representatives last fall.
After the election, 35 percent said Republicans had a better approach to the deficit, expected to reach a record $1.65 trillion this year. This month, that number has plunged to 21 percent.

Kucinich, who wanted to bring impeachment articles against both former President George W. Bush and Vice President ####### Cheney over Iraq — only to be blocked by his own leadership — asked why the U.S. missile strikes aren’t impeachable offenses.
His point is well taken - what kind of limitations are there on a President as to what kinds of military actions are taken short of a declaration of war, which is constitutionally the responsibility of Congress? That said, the No-Fly Zone was a U.N. resolution backed by the Arab League. The U.N. doesn't have it's own military to enforce such resolution and must therefore rely on its members to contribute.

How did you come to this conclusion? It sounds like Obama entered only after Cameron and Sarkozy. Its a bit refreshing to see France taking the lead on this actually. I don't see an issue with this if it remains an air war only for the US. Things get expensive when your on the ground.

You do understand that evolutionary mutagenesis is one where reproductive fitness over thousands of years is something very different from, say- a mutation right in the middle of a gene that allows those brain cells to communicate properly in one individual, right?

The problem is she isn't speaking theoretically. She is actually talking about people exposed to radiation from the Fukushima plant. Assuming there is level of ionizing radiation that would be prophylactically beneficial to humans, we don't know what it is. To suggest that exposure to an unknown dose of ionizing radiation from nuclear fallout is beneficial is just silly.
What was completely asinine though was for her to try to support that argument by saying that only 31 deaths can be blamed on the Chernobyl disaster because other deaths haven't been confirmed by studies.
The subject is interesting, but her approach and rationale is absurd.
