I don't think a 71 year old would be eligible to be added onto your plan.  I think the dependant age limit is 25.

do you know where I can find more official info about age limit? I was under impression that you can add your GC holder senior parent but was not sure. The healthcare advisor we talked to didn't seem to know much about this topic and they just were ok with my mother being added to whatever plan we get for the next year.
She has zero income in the US, she doesnt work. She gets her retirement from Argentina but that converted to dollars is almost equal to nothing. if she has to purchase her own plan,  can it be with a reduced premium based on non-income?  Thanks.

Even if she doesn't qualify for Medicaid you can certainly add her to your healthcare.gov policy.

Thank you for your input. We were thinking on adding her to our plan that we may get some tax credit / discount for next year plan but were not sure if that is allowed OR if we need to buy a separate plan for her.  We dont want to have any problem in the future because of that.

  3. Hi! We are in the middle of getting health insurance thru the health marketplace /obamacare (we may get some tax credit).  I am a US citizen (naturalization) and was wondering if we can add, as a dependent, my senior mother (over 70s) to whatever health plan we decide to get. My mother has her green card already and doesnt work. We just dont want to do anything that is considered public charge. We live in Florida. Thank you!

  4. They probably just want to see it and make a copy of it there. That is what they did with mine many years ago when I had to show it to them. You can always get extra copies (certified copy) of you marriage certificate at the courthouse.  When we got married we ordered extra copies at the courthouse because we knew we were gonna need them for AOS, etc.

  5. Like others already said...It's already starting to look risky if you decide to travel this year again. Next time they may not allow you in and cancel your tourist visa. If I were you I would leave the trip for 2021. As for your medical check-up you can do it in your home country I would guess. Which country are you from?

Fair enough, my bad I failed to check... however it is interesting to note, he’s planning on becoming one soon looking at his post history.... 🤔 preplanning possibly, really wish this guy would answer if his parents are currently in the country

Yes for sure I would like to know  in what stage of the US citizenship process the OP is right now. Are the parents in the US?  Little details that change the whole case.

  7. I never used their service and thanks God I found VJ before considering in taking that route. If you follow the guidelines here and the help from VJ members then you can do this yourself and save the money. Rapid Visa does not guarantee a visa approval just so you know. They just fill up the forms with the information you provide them.

  8. We had a simple and nice wedding ceremony at courthouse and from there we all went to have lunch at a hotel restaurant with my husband's closest circle. My family could not be present since none of them ( my closest relatives) had tourist visa at the time. Instead of a big celebration, we used the money for a nice short trip to Disney.

  9. OP,  my then boyfriend (now husband) came to see me in Argentina during our relationship 3 times. The last time he did it was after he had lost his job (I helped with half of the ticket). Then when he went back home he found a job and we did the K1.  If you have not seen this person in the last few years, you will need to invest the time to meet again and see if anything changed in your relationship because people change during the years, you know?

LOL.  But......wow!  I am always shocked and dismayed at the abject lack of research done by visa applicants.

Sometimes I prefer to believe it's trolls because otherwise it means people don't care in throwing in the trash months and months of waiting (many of them with K1 visa in hand) , $$$ invested, etc and suddenly decide to do something so stupid and risky that can jeopardize the whole effort they did. Nothing surprises me anymore.
