Had a bad experience with booking a flight too early, though not in the UK...We were also told 7-10 days til we would get the visa at the interview and then they just kept telling us a few more days, a few more days... and it turned out to be 36 days (just yesterday)! My very optimistic fiance just kept pushing his flight back one week each time. Then, after 3 missed attempts, I made him re-book to more than a month away. And then he got the visa yesterday, he re-booked again to this Friday. In total, we ended up re-booking FOUR TIMES - which needless to say, lost us a lot of money in the end, so do be careful!! Also, obviously once you book you're stuck with that airline for rebookings...
Congrats on getting the interview date - obviously I completely understand your wish to have things more quickly, but in some cases, buying a ticket for the next day would have been cheaper and less stressful than changing it once a week til it came.

That's the good news...the bad news is that my I-134, supporting documents, and some original evidence of our relationship appears to be a little it lost in the mail It was mailed almost 3 weeks ago and it was supposed to take a week to get there...
It's no a disaster yet but it WOULD be a pain to piece together all that stuff again. How did you guys who sent stuff from the U.S. make sure it arrived in time?
But we are SOOOOOO happy to finally have a date. Jerusalem consulate mail is very, very slow and unreliable(my friend said she never even got an appointment letter mailed to her - she just found out through her congressperson). So we have gotten all our information (packet 3, interview date) by emailing them and they have been very responsive and then the hard copy comes a few weeks later. Anyway, that's the update!

Um, I disagree. When I sent in my app, the average processing time was about 50-80 days, and had been in that range for a long time. I thought it might take 5 months. But I am at 196 days since I mailed in my petition. You didn't hear so much as a PEEP out of me until I hit 5 months. If I had KNOWN it would take 6-7 months just to get through this part of the process, we would have explored other visa and living options, or at the very least mentally prepared for the distance and the wait.
Please, if you do not like to read about these issues, why are you on here? Sorry if it's "getting old" for you after you have been though this process already, but we're in the midst of it now.

It's not much of an "expedite" once you've already waited 5 or 6 months. It's more like having an external stimulus to get your case moving much like getting a house representative or senator's office involved.

I am very sorry to hear that this happened to your case. I also heard a few weeks ago about a VJ member who got approved a day or two after getting a letter like that. It might not really be '6 months' - they are just buying themselves time so you won't bug them - but I know that might be little comfort now when you don't know what the future holds. My heart went out to those who were in Egypt the second they closed the consulate. I don't know how you guys stay so strong in the fact of so much uncertainty. IT must be really hard. Truly, I feel like I have no right to complain when I hear about delays that must be much more nerve-wracking than a run-of-the-mill delay that everyone is experiencing.
But I have to say, I never really understand why people always say "oh, the VSC and the CSC flip back and forth, you'll see, it all evens out..." Because the fact is, the average time at either center has NEVER been as long as it is now - and VSC is way longer at this particularly brutal time. Before, when VSC was "ahead" everyone was still getting approved in about 3 months!
Before 5 months, this was bearable. I waited and I honestly didn't complain. It's only been after 5 months that I basically lost my sanity. So, the difference between the 5 months average that it is taking the CSC and the 6 + months it is now taking the VSC is HUGE. The bottom line is that if you get your NOA2 in less than 5 months, you really can't complain.

It's obviously been a long time since you were separated from your loved one. Your statements are unnecessary. I'm chalking them up to the fact that perhaps you don't remember what it's like in the final weeks of waiting for your NOA2. Signing off for the night...

We avoided the March 4th shutdown, but the 2 week extension is barely comforting.

I guess this confirms that these notices can come any time of day or night...My NOA1 email/text came at 2am. Which means I have been sleeping with my phone...
