My wife has dual citizenship to the US and Vietnam. When she became a U.S. citizen in 2017 we were childless, and still are. She is 45, I am 69. We lost a child at childbirth and could never conceive again. She so much wanted a child, and although we inquired into adopting, no organization we spoke with gave us any hope because of my age. Now her Niece in Vietnam is pregnant and only wants to keep the child if it becomes a male ( yes, I know that sound s callous, but that s nothing we can control and no, they don t have the opportunity to have a ultrasound to determine the sex). So the Niece knowing that my wife always wanted a daughter is willing to give up the baby to my wife to adopt if it is a girl. ( No money involved or offered). Just keeping the baby in the family. ( Please don t judge, that s not what we are asking for ). Does anyone have any known experience with this kind of situation? Any thoughts are appreciated .and yes, we know about the baby possibly being born with possible health concerns.

Hi, I was wondering for USCIS Adjustment of Status purposes, if a city hall/courthouse wedding is acceptable at first, and then a couple of months later, if an interview is required for our I-485 (App. to Register Permanent Residence), if we can bring evidence/photos/video proof of an actual wedding celebration then. I have a giant family here in the U.S. and it will take months to book a venue, and have "evidence" of a wedding celebration. We hope to have the "legal" marriage first at city hall/courthouse and wasn't sure if USCIS would accept this as adequate proof of bonafide marriage evidence. Thanks! - Tony

My wife just had her interview. She aced the civics part. She did not pass the English part. On the N-652, it states that she "will have another opportunity fo test your ability to x speak x understand English. There is no "x" next to the "read" and "write". So I'm guessing she's going to have a second chance at the portions marked "x" only? She doesn't have to deal with the read and write? Finally, she told me it was a long question of "have you ever...." that threw her off. That and the follow up question of "why not?". She told me she answered every short and straight forward questions correctly.
