US Immigration from United Kingdom

My husband disclosed to me that at his POE, the immigration officer at the airport did not take his fingerprints. Is that not a requirement? Cos I remember mine was taken when I entered 12 years ago. I m asking because we have been waiting for over 6 weeks for his green card to be produced but to no avail. I have heard about people who received theirs within 4 weeks of arrival. A lady I spoke to entered recently and when he contacted USCIS to change her address, and she asked to go and get her biometrics done before her green card was produced and mailed to her. Could his fingerprints not taken be the reason for the delay? Should we contact the USCIS or wait for the 90 days to pass first?

My J1 Home Residency Rule ends June 2025. (UK)

I have seen online that my fiance can file a K1 petition for me despite the HRR. We are planning to send off I-129F in November. At what point does a petition turn into an 'application' and do you think at this point my HRR might affect the K1?

If it processes before June would I be able to just schedule my interview for when my HRR is up?

I also know that USCIS holds petitions for four months, - do you think this would be a sufficient amount of time? (6 months)

I am aware that I may not hear anything until after June anyway if the process takes a while but have seen and spoken to people online that have recent K1 timelines of 4.5-6 months.

Hello me again, with my daft questions.

So my Fianc and I have been analysing the K1 visa timelines over the last 12 months to try to gauge what kind of timescale we are looking at. It s very much a cause of my anxiety with me leaving my career and sorting out the house I own as well as trying to plan a wedding ( which I am thinking a town hall / registry office will be less stress and will honour the K 1 visa rules)

Anyway based on the data I ve seen we estimate we might receive our NOA2 prior to Christmas with my interview being at the end of March ( all being well of course). This has come as a bit of a shock as we were thinking that I would be going over in March / April 2026. Therefore the reality that it might be April / May/ June 2025 was a bit of a wake up call and I m not going to lie it knocked me for six.

It s fine as I m sure we can sort it but my question is ( and I think I already know the answer) if I am in possession of my K1 visa can I enter on my ESTA so I can pop back to the UK before I am having to stay, get married in 90 days and then wait several months for parole / a work permit?

The reason I ask is my Fianc and I are looking for a larger apartment for when I move over which he won t be able to get until The beginning of June at the earliest. So there are house hunting factors to consider plus I d like to be able to bring a couple of suitcases of my belongings over too.

Any help is appreciated, this forum and the people on it are a godsend.

Hi! I am new to the process (26F) engaged to my partner (28M) from the UK. He is currently in the UK as he had to go back before violating any travel visa restrictions. We are working on filing the paperwork but I have seen some instances in which the application is supposed to be filled out by hand, and some that it can be done by filling it out digitally. I am also seeing there are some parts of the application that need to be signed. Does it need to be wet ink? if so he will need to print the form once completed and mail them to me in the US so that I can then mail them in. so does the ink need to be wet or can it be done digitally?

Hello. My fianc is having her Embassy interview next week (29th). We ran into an issue last week with her medical where they wanted a TB sputum test done after her chest Xray showed "abnormalities". The results won't be available for 8 weeks. Reading the embassies advice on their web page, they say to continue with the interview even if the medical results aren't available. Calculating the 8 week delay from October 17th, the results should be delivered around December 12th. Adding to a potential processing delay that may occur in the holiday season, there is a high chance the visa won't be ready before the end of December. The problem is that she's booked to fly to the US to be with me over Christmas on December 18th, just for a visit. Our plan is to move her here to the US in early spring '25. We didn't see any issue occurring with the medical so we though she'd have her processed passport in time to travel. This is my question. Will the embassy at the interview keep her passport pending the medical result if everything else checks out (relationship evidence etc.) or can she keep her passport and return to the embassy when she arrives in the UK in early January for the visa to be added. I'm not sure if anyone's encountered this scenario. This has added an extra level of anxiety to what has already been a difficult experience totaling 732 days as of this writing, since we got our NOA1.
