US Immigration from United Kingdom

Looks like it's been a few years since this topic has been broached so thought I'd see if anyone has any updated info for 2021.

If you moved to the US with an outstanding SLC student loan in the UK, what are the best methods of tackling it? Has anyone moved that debt over to the US? What are the lowest fees / best exchange rates for paying with a US credit card? Or is it cheaper to transfer money to your UK bank account and pull it out of there?

Would love to hear all and any experiences with this. Thank you!

QUESTION:

My fianc has already filed the I-129 petition for alien fianc . However, I have submitted my DS160 for a B1/B2 Tourist visa after the petition was filed.

Here is my question with regards to DS160... HAS ANYONE EVER FILED AN IMMIGRANT PETITION ON YOUR BEHALF WITH THE UNITED STATES CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES.... MY ANSWER WAS NO.

Further down the DS160 form, one has to answer the following question- DO YOU HAVE ANY IMMEDIATE RELATIVES, NOT INCLUDING PARENTS IN THE U.S.? - USCIS identifies fianc as immediate relative, therefore, my answer to the question was YES.

Do I need to amend my answer with regards to the question HAS ANYONE EVER FILED AN IMMIGRANT PETITION......to YES in my DS160 form before the interview..

Any response would be appreciated.

I finish work a few days before I travel over to the US but due to the payment cycle at my company I won't be paid until around 15 days after I enter the US. Since this is work that I did in the UK, I assume there would be no issue with it, but could anyone confirm/deny that? (I can discuss with company payroll if this isn't okay)

Hello all I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post on or if it should be in the K1 area but I'll start my inquiry here. My fiance made it to the US (finally ) on a K1 NIE on April 9th. I got him added to my credit card no problem, t omy bank account with a little issue (had to fill out some crazy form and wait an hour). I would like for him to get a SSN before we get married May 21st. I wanted to know:

- if we are able to make an appointment with our local office do they retain any original documents or do they look/copy and return?

- If they approve the application (SS5 or some such) do we need to wait for it to be in hand to get married/ or is it a matter or once they approve it we can marry and just wait for it to come in the mail?

I guess I'm just a little confused on the timing as we have been flip flopping if we should get in now or when we file AOS. Thanks for any advice!

My Father-in-law is my joint sponsor, and he lives in the US. I'm attaching his latest tax return, I-864 and passport scan. It's also asking for proof of domicile.

Can I upload the tax return again for proof of domicile, or is there a different document I should be asking him for?
