Residence and Physical Presence question

my wife would like to start her N400 ASAP which since she's married to me, a USC, I think is 3 years after granting of her green card right?

we like to travel a lot. we're going to Thailand soon for 4 month and then Europe next summer for 2 month. I assume the physical presence is based on calendar year? So in 2025 we'll be gone Jan Feb Mar, then June July, and back to Thailand Dec, so right up against the 6 month limit. How strict is USCIS on the 6 month per year rule?. I read this "(absences of more than six months but less than one year shall disrupt the applicant's continuity of residence unless the applicant can establish that he or she did not abandon his or her residence during such period) ". how would we 'establish that he or she did not abandon his or her residence during such period' if we went a bit over? I'd like to do a quite trip to Canada next year too but would skip it if its a problem. These are all vacations, not moving abroad. We're retired so its what we do.

I should add we own our house in NY and have no plans to move. My wife has family in Thailand and I have family in UK hence the reason for extended visits. She's only had her GC for 1 year so I'm just planning ahead at this point.

thanks

Haven't Filed Taxes in Years

I'm retired military and haven't filed taxes since I retired, as my retirement is non-taxable from the VA. Wife has a GC and now wants to become a citizen. Will there be a problem since we haven't filed taxes? Should I request the non filing documents from the IRS?

It's a sticky situation as we are FULLY retired. Thanks in advance!

No green card after 90 days - how to speak to a human at USCIS or is this an exercise in futility?

Simple question. How do I get to a human at USCIS?

If you are interested, here is the background/ my rant:

Paid my wife s IV fee August 2, 2024 before traveling to the US. We arrived in the US, POE Atlanta August 7. When I check green card status online the status is still Immigrant Visa Fee Payment Received after >90 days.

Tried to submit e-request. Form asks for receipt number, which we have, and form number. What form number do I select? Ko form other than I90 is relevant but when I choose i90 I m told the receipt number is wrong.

Tried live chat. Made it to the point of getting an agent, answered all identity questions only to get an auto response to call USCIS with my wife present.

Called MULTIPLE times. Try to explain to the bot answering the phone that my wife has not received her green card. Bot says I can check status online and asks if I want website info emailed or texted. I ask to speak with an agent . Bot replies that she can t transfer me to an agent until I tell her what I need.

This is an endless loop. What am I missing???

My fiance is Thai, so perhaps we need to go ahead and get her birth certificate and have it translated in advance so we have it just in case and do not waste time. Thoughts?

Seeking information and/or advice....

Hello. I am here seeking information /advice on several subjects. Hopefully, I'm in the right place. First, let me give you the backstory. I'm a US citizen married to a Thai wife and I have 2 step-daughters. We got married in 2022 and are still going thru the immigration process. [ it's taking awhile ] I think I know the answers to my questions but I would like clarification from someone that may have already gone thru this process.

1. I want to adopt the daughters and give them my last name. Is this easier to do here in the USA or in Thailand? And is it better to do a name change in Thailand before they arrive or after arrival?

2. I have been supporting them since even before we got married. Can I claim them on my taxes without them having social security numbers?- I dont think they get SSANs until they arrive in the USA. I also want to add them as my dependents [ for work ] is this possible without ssan? I was told the passport number works in place of ssan, but not sure about that.

Thanks in advance for any info/advice
