Police Certificate

One of the documents asked during the k1 process is police certificates from all countries that the beneficiary has lived since 16 years old. What happens if a country won't give you one? for example, Russia is making things difficult for my and my partner's application. We are getting pretty stressed about this.

Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I m the U.S. petitioner for my fianc s K-1 visa and I m a bit confused about the financial-support part. I m currently unemployed, but I own an apartment in Spain that I rent out for 2,640/month (about $2,800 USD). I also have an investment account with about 33,000 (~$35,000 USD) in savings.

The apartment lease is for one year (renewable), and I can provide the rental contract and bank statements showing regular deposits. My fianc (the beneficiary) also has about 80,000 (~$85,000 USD) in investments of his own, which he will bring with him to the U.S.

My questions:

  1. Will my rental income and savings be enough to qualify for the I-134 requirement, even though I m not currently employed?

  2. Does it matter that the lease is only one year long?

  3. Can I include my fianc s 80k as additional evidence of overall financial stability, even if it can t officially count toward my I-134?

  4. The rental contract is in Spanish and quite long is it okay to provide just a partial translation (rent amount, dates, signatures) with a certification of translation instead of translating the whole document?

Any advice or examples from people who ve been in a similar situation would be really appreciated!

Thanks so much

I am thinking ahead, but if your spouse gets approved after the interview and enters the U.S. with the green card and visa, can we travel outside the U.S.? There is a family wedding in Europe and we wanted to see if it is OK to leave the country for 2 weeks for travel after entering the U.S. as a legal resident/spouse? Is It safe to exit and enter soon after? My spouse is a Spanish citizen if that matters.

Hi everyone,
I m getting ready (way ahead of time) to submit my I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, and I d really appreciate some feedback on whether my packet looks strong and complete.

Here s what I will be including:

-Cover Letter.

-Form G-1450 (Credit Card Authorization).

-Form G-1145 (E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance).

-Completed Form I-751.

-Copy of my Green Card (front and back).

-Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage (see below):

  • Apartment lease agreement.

  • Medical and dental ID cards (through Amazon Benefits).

  • Joint bank accounts (Checking and Savings) and statements with regular transactions.

  • Car insurance.

  • Supplemental, Life, and AD&D insurance (through Amazon Benefits).

  • 401(k) retirement plan (through Amazon Benefits).

  • Copies of both our driver s licenses.

  • Official IRS tax transcripts (including W-2s) for 2024 and 2025.

  • Internet, phone, and car wash accounts.

  • Mail and packages addressed to me and/or my husband.

  • Photos of us together.

Does this look like enough? Should I include something else?

I have heard something about a notice enclosed in the 2-year green card envelope. It says, "Use this tear-off portion to speed your application for an extension or replacement card." Is it necessary to include this notice?

Thank you so much in advance for your help and guidance!

I have a couple of questions to people who already have had this stage recently.

My case was forwarded to the DOS last week.

The DOS timeframes web page shows 3 weeks from receiving to case entered/creation.

Do they email you and mail you the letter with the case number right away when then create the case?

I understand it then takes a week or two for them to forward the case to the embassy/consulate.

Do you also get an email when they forward it? or do you have to then check the status on the status web page?

Can you go into the appointments page as soon as you have the case number and book an appointment? Can you fill the DS-160 online right away after only having the case number? or do you have to wait for the consulate to contact us first?

Thanks in advance!
