US Immigration from Singapore

Hi all -- please pardon me if this is a repeat question. Appreciate any leads to old threads if it there are any relevant links.

Is such a scenario possible? A foreigner spouse of USC (couple lives abroad) is sponsored for an H1B visa from employer, and the couple move to the US on foreigner spouse's job.

Otherwise, are there any other visas for a foreigner spouse of USC besides IR1?

I know it s exceptionally rare, but my alien spouse can be credited with >40 credits of my social security because we have been married >10 years and my US employer abroad required me to participate in social security the entire time.

We are about to begin NVC processing and step 1 is pay fees for I-864 AOS. Since we are exempt from AOS, is there any way to avoid the fee? It is clear that no fee is required with USCIS, but NVC is under DOS and it s not very clear if payment is required.

Hi all,

I entered SFO as a port of entry with my F41 immigrant visa on Nov 7 2022, filed a I-131 Re-Entry Permit and left US on Nov 30, 2022.

I only received my physical green card in the mail on Dec 23, 2022.

Have the following questions:

1. As my income is still based overseas for the year 2022, Do I file federal taxes for year 2022 and will it be for partial year from Nov 7 to Dec 31 2022? (55 days)
2. How would I claim for Foreign Earned Income Exclusion - $112,000 for 2022, similarly would this be pro-rated
3. Any recommendation on tax software or reasonably priced tax preparers for first year green card holders?

I applied for I-129F on Sept. 28 2020 at CSC, then I received a notice that they transferred my application to VSC on April 19 2022, I still haven't receive any updates. My question is what's the reason why they transferred my application and how long will it take to be approved for security check? I called USCIS for any updates, I was told that my application is still waiting for approval.

Looking for Indians with similar experience. Any NRI Indian passport holders who have foreign addresses in their passports? I ve grown up in Thailand since age 9, and the Indian embassy won t accept my application for a police clearance (essential to my DS160 paperwork) because my passport has a Thai address. They need me to have an Indian address that matches the one on my police clearance application. My folks own a flat in Delhi even though we have not lived there and I don t have any bills/statements in my name to that address. Anyone else encounter this issue and how did you resolve it?
