My fiance lived in Chile for two years without a visa and was never able to take out residency there. For the interview you need a police certificate for any country you have lived in for more than 6 months. It is not possible to take out his police records without a national identity card. My question is, do his records even exist for these two years? He was never arrested or had any problems. Has someone else been in this situation? What should I do?

Hey everybody I m currently awaiting for my consular interview and as I was reading through it, I found this: "If you are older than 18 years of age: The original police certificates from your country of current residence and all countries in which you lived for more than 12 months." I ve lived in the US for more than 12 months in the past, as a student, will I need to travel there and get it or they mean other countries besides the US? Thank you in advance!

I am in the process of applying for visas for my wife and stepdaughter, and I don't meet the income requirement and am therefore considering asking my best friend to co-sponsor the application. He makes a lot of money and would easily qualify, but he is concerned that he might be assuming a massive amount of potential liability. For example, what happens if my wife gets in a car crash and ends up with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical bills that we can't pay? Would that mean a co-sponsor could be on the hook for hundreds of thousands of dollars? Is it possible to precisely quantify a worst-case scenario for a co-sponsor? And is the responsibility of the co-sponsor for a limited period of time, or is it perpetual?

Hi, my mother and I (petitioner) got AOS interview in 1 month. She unluckily got ill and had to take her to the hospital. Since she is uninsured, they told us to apply for Emergrency Medicaid. I am scared that could affect her AOS case. Does anyone know whether it could? also, once I get her AOS approved and get her green card, do you know if I could enroll her in Obamacare or some type of health insurance ? thanks, silentsiren

My USC naturalized spouse is filing an I-130 that asks for his certificate of naturalization number. When he filed for his first US passport, they never sent back the certificate of naturalization, or perhaps it was lost in the mail. The I-130 asks if he ever had a certificate (he did) and what the number is. We have no copy of the number, unfortunately. What should we do with regard to the I-130? File without the number? File for replacement certificate of naturalization and wait? It would be financially painful to spend the $555 to file the N-565. I'm grateful for any insight anyone can offer
