Hello everyone, I recently became a U.S. citizen, and I'm now looking into the possibility of sponsoring my family to join me here. I have two separate, yet equally important concerns, and any guidance or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. - *Firstly*, I want to apply for green cards for my parents who are currently not in the USA. I understand that as immediate relatives of a U.S. citizen, the process might be more straightforward for them, but I'm curious about any challenges I might face, particularly with the current processing times and the best way to approach this.
- *Secondly*, and this is a bit more complex, my brother is turning 21 in 10 months. I've read about the Child Status Protection Act (CSPA) but am trying to understand if there's a way to ensure he can come here as well. Given the cap on visas for siblings, I'm worried about the potential waiting time and whether there's anything I can do to expedite the process.
I've also been considering whether there are any expedited processing options available for either case that might be applicable due to our family circumstances. Does anyone have experience with expediting family-based visa applications? What kind of evidence or reasoning did you provide, and how successful was it? Any advice, links to resources, or personal stories about navigating the immigration process for parents and siblings would be incredibly helpful. I want to ensure I'm taking the best steps forward for my family. Thank you in advance for your help and support!

Hello, I filed an i-130 for my mom. I had put some estimated date on my 5-year address history. I am about to file one for my dad. Do the dates in the address history need to match? I certainly don't remember what exactly I put in there. The dates will probably differ by weeks or month.

My Nepali husband's passport expires in May. He has a 2-year conditional green card that expires in October. We would like to travel outside the US to vacation. We followed the steps listed on the Nepal passports website for setting up an appointment at the Nepali consulate in the US (NY or DC), for him to renew his passport, but there are no appointments available ever at either location. No one answers email or phone calls. Several other countries have appointments, so the website is working. My understanding is that he doesn't need an active passport to renew his green card later this year, but please let me know if this is incorrect. If he can't renew, then do we just never travel outside the US until he gets citizenship? Does he/can he return to Nepal to renew the passport? I also think I understand that he can return to US with only a green card, but most countries won't let him in without a green card and Nepal passport with 6+ months before expiry (I know there are different rules for entry in each country, also dependent on nationality).

Reentry Permit Denied by USCIS and Re-applying Question ? |

Hi, My sister in law is a US permanent resident since 2018 and does not want to file for citizenship, she just wants to maintain her Green card holder status. Due to her father-in-law's critical illness and her husband being only son, she moved back to home country with her husband and daughter (US citizens) 2 years ago. She travelled back to US and filed for a 2 years reentry permit back in July 2022 via mail and later came back to US again for her biometrics. We just received 'Denial Letter' from USCIS for being out of the country when USCIS received her initial application (She applied on July 13th by mail and flew our of US on 15th July, USCIS received on July 16th). This looks like a justified denial but now she wants to come back to US and apply again for 2 year reentry permit and make sure USCIS receives her application and complete her biometrics before leaving country again. She has spent most of past 2 years out of US (minus 3 short trips to US), my understanding is since she has been living out of country for a while now, she does not have a ground to apply for reentry permit before she lives in US for a year or two or whatever reasonable duration but she seems to insist that USCIS will allow/approve her application if she applies again. Also to add, during her last entry into US, she was questioned and held by CBP for 3 hours for being out of country for extended period of time without having an approved reentry permit. Any suggestions / opinion or experience in such case ? Please share. Thank you,
