NVC stage
Spouses Police Certificate rejected (still not exactly sure why- Obtained same certificate for B1/B2 Visa). So he went back to Panama, got another certificate and Apositille and translated. After uploading the new certificate we just noticed that the translator made an error when describing the stamp.

It should say Convention de la Hay du October 5 1963 and instead says Convention de la Hay du October 5 1961. She put the wrong year in. Should we have her re-translate and upload again?
If so, do we upload it as an extra document with explanation? As we are unable to update or delete the current one even though it hasn't been viewed.

Filing I-130 for wife's mother. What to expect?

Hello, community.

9 years ago this site was a huge help to me as we went through the adjustment of status process for my wife. Now, nine years later she is a US Citizen and doing very well here.

She is interested in filing an I-130 for her mother. I'm just beginning to do the research, and figured I'd post here and see if anyone would share thoughts on what I should expect.

The pertinent info:
My wife is from Mexico. We married in April, 2012. She became a permanent resident in Oct, 2012. She became a US citizen in Dec 2019.

We meet the financial requirements for sponsoring her mom if it is required. There is nothing in her mom's background that would be a hindrance to approval, ie. legal trouble, etc. Her mom lives very close to the US border, and has had a border crossing card for 15 or more years. She's always used it responsibly.

I can't think of anything else that would be important to know, but if you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'd love to hear any thoughts you have, especially regarding timelines, suggestions for a smoother process, etc.

Thank you!

Two-part interviews at Ciudad Juarez?

Well we finally got our appointment. The consulate put us on ice for 15 months then gave us 3 days notice to be at the interview on Friday! We're excited, but apparently there are a lot of people posting in Facebook groups that the consulate in CDJ is doing two-day interviews. The first day they just take your documents and fingerprints, then the second day they give you the actual interview.

Not only does this seem really dumb, but if Friday is day 1, that means she needs to go back 4 days later on Tuesday due to the long weekend. Has anyone heard about this? Maybe we're misunderstanding? Everything I have read for the last 3 years leads me to believe that there's only one interview appointment and they do everything then.

The consular website has a link where you have to "register your appointment" and set up your biometric appointment, so we're hoping that the fingerprint appointment is day 1 and then we're done on Friday. The site doesn't work, so that's something else we're working on.

Cancel ITIN application because of new SSN?

Hi everyone!

my husband (American citizen) filed 2020s taxes in April this year and submitted a w7 so I could obtain an ITIN number. He filed as married filing jointly. He thought I wasn t going to get my interview this year, so he went ahead with that. Fast forward 2 months I got my interview and now I have my SSN.

Today I received a letter from IRS saying that my ITIN application cannot be completed since they need my passport. I know ITIN and SSN cannot co-exist. Is there a way that I can cancel that ITIN application? Would he need to file again and now use my SSN number??

Thank you in advance!
