Dear VJ members,

So excited and nervous that my mother's interview was finally scheduled, it's been 2 long years. I just went ahead and registered her appointment online as well as the biometrics.

I wanted to ask here, are there any other fees and/or payments that must be submitted before the interview other than the 2 shown below?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,

im new here and hoping I m posting in the right location. I m looking for help/advice for my parents. I m in the process of trying to bring my parents to the US from Mexico. They have been given their interview appointment in Juarez at the beginning of January and I am wanting to make sure they are prepared for the interview, we have all the necessary paperwork, appointments and everything ready, we are more worried about the actual in person interview. Mostly that I was born in the US while my mother was on vacation at my aunts, my mother was legally in the US on a travel visa. What kind of questions should they be ready for pertaining to my birth in the US? Are there other questions they should be ready for? We thank you in advance and really appreciate any and all help. Thank you

Getting an I-485 filing request after I-130 approval

We filed for my husband's AOS on January 2022, our timeline goes something like this:

January 2022: Filed I-130, I-130A, I-485, I-765 and I-864 in the same package. Two weeks after we got the I-485, I-130 and Biometric receipt.

February 2022: Biometrics appointment

March 2022: Received EAD

June 2022: Received AP (we filed these last two separately without knowing it could all be filed at once)

November 2022: Received a RFE and sent evidence two weeks after

December 2022: Evidence and I-130 approved, BUT the I-130 approval letter asks to file a I-485: "The petition indicates that the beneficiary wishes to apply for adjustment of status to that of a lawful permanent resident. They should submit a copy of this notice, along with a Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status."

Does anyone know why this is being required again? Or is it just a template and our I-485 is actually being reviewed now? Our assessor says we don't need to worry since the USCIS clearly already received our I-485 and has been paid for, but I can't find any information on this online. Any suggestions on what to do?

Hi everyone,

I received NOA2 for my the I129F petition I filed for my fiance one week ago after 14 months wait and now waiting for NVC. However, due to some circumstances my fiance may need to remain in his country for the next 18 months. Can i simply postpone taking an appointment with the embassy for the next 12 months or take an appointment in January, 2024 for instance? or is there a maximum date before which I129F petition becomes obsolete and I need to restart the process from the beginning?
