Hi my wife entered US 3 weeks ago on a CR1 visa, at her visa interview after her interview was approved the agent said that she will get her SSN card within 3 weeks of entering the US. When I called social security office to get an update on the card they asked me if she submitted an form for SSN, they said it was done during the visa application process. I didn't see anything about submitting an form to get SSN and was under the impression that after you pay the final fees and enter US they will mail you the card within 3 weeks. Does anyone know how the process works? When I called the office they told me to make an appointment to apply for SSN and the problem is that next available appointment isn't until end of June. Thanks.

Our K1 petition got forwarded to the Mumbai consulate today. Hopefully looking toward an interview in the coming months, I have two separate questions. 1.) Is it strongly expected that both fiances will write statements about how they met and why they want to get married? I guess I had heard vaguely about doing this, but I hadn't seen that on any of the checklists in the K1 guide on this site, so I hadn't sent one with the initial I-129F packet and didn't include one in the recent packet of documents I sent my fiance in India. I have no problem writing one, but just want to get a sense of how important it might be. 2.) Does the CO who interviews the applicant know the answers to the questions they're asking? To give an example, I've seen a number of people say that they get asked about their fiance(e)'s parents, where the parents live, and what they do for work. I've wondered, though, how the CO would know the answer, because there's only pretty limited info about parents included on the I-129F. I ask because I (the U.S. petitioner) am estranged from my parents and have been for years, so my fiance has never met or communicated with them. Does the consulate just assume parents are in the picture, or do they only ask when the information has been indicated somewhere on the application?

Hey Guys, The situation in India is worsening day by day and my spouse(USC) is pregnant here in India with me. Given the situation here and her condition she is planning to go back to the States. I want to travel with her so I can take care of her but my interview date has not be scheduled yet by the Consulate here in India. Due to the rise in cases the consulate is closed for 2 month or could be more if the situation goes worse. So I wanted to know if there is a way I can accompany my wife to the States. Any kind of advice or suggestion would be amazing. Thank you in advance and stay safe. I have read the below thread But my case is kinda different.

Hello, our AOS interview was on 04-22-21. Interview went well for the most part but the Medical package, that was submitted at POE, was missing. Now they are waiting for it. EAD expires on 06-18-21. I had the paperwork ready but then we received the interview letter, so we held off ead renewal. Is it to late to file for EAD/AP now, because the Interview has been done? can i still file for ead renewal? anything special that i have to submit ? I know medical going missing is not unheard off but how often do they find it? would it be premature to start on i-693 ? Thank you.
