Unemployment Benefits ok for permanent resident applying for citizenship?

My wife, Permanent Resident the past 10 years, as we married on a K1 Visa 10 years ago is about to apply for citizenship. She has been self employed the past 6-7 years and has not worked for over 18 months due to Covid. I just found out yesterday that the Cares Act, etc allows self-employed individuals to apply for Unemployment Benefits and some other extra federal funds. I had no idea that self employed people can receive Unemployment benefits. Question... If we were to have her apply, or even backdate it back 18 months, etc for unemployment benefits for my wife could that affect her citizenship application? She hasn't applied for Citizenship yet. We've been putting it off for years. We plan to do it this month. Does anyone see any issues with applying for unemployment benefits? Perhaps there are rules against it? Thanks for any advise.

Biometrics appointment letter received 4 months after receiving letter saying that old biometrics would be reused

Hi,

I received a letter in April stating that my old biometrics would be reused for my ROC (I-751). Today I received another letter explaining that I have to go to a USCIS office to get my biometrics taken. On the USCIS website, it still says "Fingerprints relating to your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, have been applied to your case".

Should I contact USCIS or should I just go to the appointment they scheduled?

Thank you!

I submitted my AOS on May of last year and received my permission to travel on february. I have more than a year that I don't see my family and I am planning to travel next month to Colombia to see my mom. My husband cannot go with me because of his work and this trip would last 15 days. I wanted to know if this is safe to do and if any of you have travelled with the EAD, specially since all of what is going on with DACA recently.

My country of citizinship is Venezuela but I am going to Colombia because my mom has a tourist visa interview (there is no USA embassy in Venezuela) to visit me here in the US and I want to join her to give her company while in Colombia. My fear would be that in the way back they would not allow me to enter to the country.

Which country to get married

Hi there.

My girlfriend of two years in coming to study in the US. Our intent is not to change her immigration status while here of course but we plan to get married.

When she finishes this semester she will return to her country for a few months.

She has her own money and I am financially secure.

The question is I would like to show commitment to her by getting married before she leaves her country. I will be there.

Even though we haven t decided whether we want to live in the US nor whether she will apply for a green card, will marriage in her country BEFORE she leaves cause us grief if she ever decides to want to live in the US?

To that is end, if we do get married in her country and she comes here to the US to study (again we are not sure we want to live here), would it make sense to also get married here (I want to do it for my family) or not?

I know these actions are delicate. Again we are not sure what we want long term except to be together and we are both going back to her country and to travel in the winter.

Will marriage mess stuff up in the long run if we don t try and change her status?

My fear is that it will somehow mess things up. But if I m reading it right marriage means nothing to the folks at immigration unless there is a status change. Right?

Thanks.

Good day everyone,

How many notices/letters by mail we 'Petitioners' get by regular mail here in the US? I'm having issues with our Condo mail boxes - USPS says it may take 2months to get right -

This is my timeline.. Will I get any more letters/Docs? or thats it?

1st Letter -- NOA - receipt date 01/21/2020 -

2nd Letter -- RFE - pictures didn't have dates - 04/17/2020 -- sent a lot / very detailed (everyone who is just starting, dont make the same mistake - write on the back of pics the dates)

3rd Letter - NOA2 - 06/23/2020 - Notice of Approval (Valid from 06/23/20 to 10/22/20) - didnt do anything since on other threads all said it was extended automatically due to Covid

JUST EMAIL - from NVC - 06/08/2021-- approved I-129F will now forward petition to Bogota Embassy -- with Case# Receipt#

will all other documents be received by the beneficiary? or what else do we get?
