Hi, My wife entered the US on a K1 visa in September 2019, got married, and applied for AOS for my wife in October 2019. 14 months later, still waiting for interview to be scheduled. In the mean time, need to renew our health insurance for next year. We live in California and I don't have employer-based insurance, so we go through our state exchange (Covered California). One of the things required in the Covered California application is "Proof of Immigration Status" for my wife. They list several different types of proof (quoted below), but unless I'm mistaken, I don't believe my wife has any of these listed documents because none of them are applicable for K1-to-AOS applicants. My best guess is to select the last choice "Other documents" and upload scanned copies of her AP/EAD card, or the I-797 from her AOS petition. Just wondering if any other K1-to-AOS California-based VJers have used Covered California before and what they provided as proof of status. Thanks -

Is there a rough statistic out there of what % of I-751s are interviewed? I've heard anything from 2% all the way up to 50% LOL. My wife adjusted from a B2 visa a while back and the interview was no problem. We have a kid together, own two cars and a house jointly, all finances comingled, etc and will soon file the I-751. Just curious how likely is it that we get (another) interview.

Hey all, It's been ages since I've posted on this forum - it was heaps of help for my wife's journey. She's now U.S. citizen - the journey starting roughly in 2003... from packets, to green cards and finally as of a few of years ago, citizenship . I come back with a question that I'm hoping someone knows the answer to. My wife is originally from Beijing and is needing to cancel her hukou stateside for various reasons. Has anyone had any experience with how to do this - the proper way and what you to do in order to get it done ;o ? We keep on coming up with conflicting information, so we're hoping someone here may know a few answered to this mess . General things we've come across so far / questions: -We're not sure if what she needs to write to the local office in Beijing needs to be notarized or not (I assume by the embassy in Washington DC if it does? -It looks like her passport page needs to be translated. -My wife has changed her last name to my family name, but everything is registered in China under her maiden name. Her old, expired Chinese passport has a note that she is "aka" my family name, but how do we get around this hiccup? It's not the first time we've stumbled into this situation ;o . Anywho, thanks all in advance for any help and here's a happy end to the year ^^ (hopefully)!!!

My wife is Chinese. The current passport is valid for her to get her Visa to go to the US. The current passport expires November 2022. My wife wants to get a new passport so that she will have a valid passport when the current passport expires. Will her current passport be invalidated by getting a new passport?
