Hello all, we were DQ May 12th waiting for appointment for interview at the Rio de Janeiro, Brazil consulate. Anyone else in the same boat? I saw that Rio is doing well with the backlog if I'm correct?

I have received my welcome letter and filed DS-160 forms. However, I can't find the civil documents column in the CEAC website. I heard here that some consulates demand that documents are sent in paper copies to the NVC. Does anyone has experienced that with immigrant visas being processed in Rio de Janeiro? Thanks!

Hi everyone,

My mom, aunt, and sister recently went to get a tourist visa to come visit and my aunt and mom got a yes, but my sister was denied. She is a full time college student and is involved in a bunch of research projects in her university department. I don't get it. Is there anything I can do from here to have this changed or reconsidered in any way? Ive always been legal here and have done everything right.

Thanks for any leads!

Will B2 Be Denied Consequent to K-1 Application? [split topic]

I applied for a tourist visa last year, before meeting my boyfriend in person. I did it because the consulates were closed due the Covid and my interview was scheduled for November 2022. Now, after making an adjustment on the DS 160, my interview changed to August 2022. After awhile, we decided to get married, but we didn't applied for the K1 because we don't know if filling the K1 could bring me issues on my tourist visa.
I've worked for the federal government here for almost 20 years, my daughter is 16 yo and lives part time with me (half month), I'm divorced but I still have a mortgage to pay (my ex-husband and I bought a house together and my name is still in the paperwork)...
Is there a possibility of the consulate deny my B2 because we applied for a K1?

CAN I GET SSN EARLIER ONLY BY SHOWING STAMPED IMMIGRANT VISA AS A PROOF OF PERMANENT RESIDENCY?

Hello everyone!

I arrived in the US one week ago. (IR1)
We are waiting for my permanent resident card and SSN to arrive in the mail (the fee was paid 16 days before my arrival) I heard that it can take up to 90 days to be mailed to me, and I didn t want to wait that long to start working.
Our question is: as the now stamped immigrant visa is valid as a proof of permanent residency for one year after arrival, can I go in person to a SS office and be able to get my SSN earlier by showing them my passport? Or do I need to wait for my physical GC to arrive?
I appreciate your help!
Thank you!
