  1. I had blood work done. I don't think they care about STDs at all. They are pretty common anyway. I had the idea they wanted to see if I was pregnant. I'm not sure why that was important either, except it's against Islam to be pregnant before marriage.
  2. I will! A friend of my husband (also Moroccan) wanted to leave the country and has an expired passport AND expired national identity card. He went to the moroccan consulate and they told him it would be 45 days to process the passport.
  3. Yes, I saw that site too that said about applying in person in New York. There are a lot of sites that have information about the embassy/consulate but they don't look like the official site. I think the link you sent is the official one. We will contact the embassy to find out the next steps. But I noticed if you just want to message them you have to start a sort of inquiry and provide all of your personal information. I didn't see anything that just outlined the procedure. We will check with them and I'll update you all. Thanks! I don't think it's up to the airline either. It most likely would be a direct flight though.
  4. Hi everyone, I did a search on the VJ site before posting but all the posts I found were pretty old. My husband has a green card but his Moroccan passport has expired. Would he be allowed to travel from the US to Morocco to renew it there? Thanks so much!
  5. Hi! I've been trying to find the website for the Moroccan consulate in NY and I keep finding suspicious looking websites. Do you have the link for the actual consulate? Thanks so much!
  6. Yeah Atlanta would be! He got his SS# after a couple of weeks but still waiting on GC. My husband says it usually takes a few months. Was that your experience? We found a small market not to far away that has halal meat but I found out that it's something that's difficult to inquire about since it involves basically asking people if they eat halal meat which is kind of a private thing. It's a big issue, if a person who is Muslim lands in an area where halal meat is not readily available. Having to drive for hours and then cut and freeze large quantities of meat adds an extra level of work to the whole cooking process. I got rid of my microwave so defrosting meat safely is another issue. Basically, you have to think of what you want to eat tomorrow and put it in the refrigerator at night in order for it to be ready to cook that next day. I might have to reconsider my stance on microwaves!
  7. Thanks, Jeanne! Yes but we were specifically looking for a Moroccan butcher that we heard about. Just to have that Moroccan touch
  8. Hey does anyone know of a Moroccan butcher near Washington DC? Thanks!
