Once you have a Greencard you dont need a Employment Authorization Document....

hotbelle87,

Once you have a green card there's no need for employment authorization - LPRs are employment authorized and the green card is evidence that you are an LPR.

EAD is so you can work while you are waiting for your AOS to be approved. EAD usually takes 2 months to approve.. your AOS could take three times as long.

You can always send your EAD now they do not HAVE to go together.

Nothing I say is legal advice. I recommend you consult a qualified immigration attorney for any questions you may have.

Correct me if i am wrong ,I'm gonna wait my greencard sothat i don't need to submit EAD and besides i'm not gonna work work right away!..thank you so much for the response!!!!!!!!

Right, you only need to apply for the EAD if you want to work before you get your green card. If you don't want to/need to work for until then, you don't need to apply for an EAD. It's totally optional.

Ok, did you do any research at all before sending your paperwork or did you do it through a lawyer ?

Anyway, try doing some research, you dont have to go far, right here in the forum you will find answers to every one of your questions.

Well, we also received our interview letter last week and it says "INITIAL" interview as well, so I quickly searched and found in this forum a thread from a couple weeks ago discussing this.

It is nothing... it's just that sometimes they do more than one interview, but most times one interview is enough to approve the case.

You'll receive your greencard after your case gets approved, that may take place at the interview or if you get stuck in the FBI name check, or lacking documents or some other problem then your case might take some time to get approved...

It doesn't matter if you file with the AOS or seperately, you have to pay $180 for the EAD.

Just again: Once you have your gc, you don't need the EAD anymore.

Agreed, Only apply for EAD if you feel you will need to work or get DL before getting GC ( 5-7 months)

We sent EAD with AOS package received EAD card almost 4 months after filing and green card arrived less than 2 months later. In our case EAD was a waste of $$ as my wife did not need to work.

If you send it with your AOS Package it will process faster, and in some case when you go for biometrics you can do Biometrics for AOS & EAD in one Appt.
