Handling IMBRA convictions at Interview

Well, I can't say how every consulate will be handling the job of informing the beneficiary about any convictions the USC petitioner may have. I can say however that the consulate officer in Poland did it verbally at the interview.

I don't know if it would be helpful to inform the Embassy about your unique case dealing with IMBRA before you go to the interview or not. This may help them to get prepared for what most likely will be the first time they handle a case like this. Maybe you could have a written statement from your fiancee saying that she is informed about the convictions and list what they are, have her sign it and bring it to the interview. Or Maybe you just want to wait and see how your consulate handles the case. It worked out for me in the end without a long delay.

Interview at Bangkok, Thailand

I went alone for the interview. the consular officer and I discussed about the past convictions of Robert. The problem is that he has 2 convictions that is what I was informed by the Consular officer, so our case might be pending……when I heard the word of Pending I started to explain everything between I and Robert. I talked alots I couldn’t remember, but all is about I strongly insisted that I have known everything about him and I will accept him anyway.

Finally I got visa. Before we sent RFE to USCIS, Robert sent me his past convictions then I sent them to translate into Thai, after that I sent the translated convictions along with my Letter to confirm that I will still marry Robert, 60 days later our case was approved (Sept 7’ 06)
