AOS Filers - May 2009!

I am determined to get my AOS filed in May. I have heard that June and July are the busiest filing times so I want to beat the rush. Let's hope for the fastest processing time we can get!

So tell us a bit about yourself! I'm Canadian and married my USC husband in July of 2007. I'm adjusting status from a tourist visa. I'm not quite ready to file yet, as I've been procrastinating about doing my husband's 2008 taxes. (i guess the procrastinating part is obvious!) It's a bit of a complicated return and I've been putting it off, but now it is standing between me and my AOS Filing so it's all systems go. I"m determined to file by the 15 of May.

Who's with me??

Why is June and July busier?

I have no idea - just a seasonal difference in the number of filers. I heard that from an immigration attorney, so I don't know how accurate it is. I'm anxious to get started anyway.

Maybe it is because May is usually a pretty popular month to get married. I bet October is busy, too as September is one of the "wedding" months, too.

We are getting a nice global sampler here - New Zealand, Germany, Sweden, France and Canada so far. I am pretty much one TB skin test away from filing. I am giong to go get that tomorrow, along with my last vaccination. It's funny having to get the communicable diseases clearance after having been in the US for 20 months- like that horse is out of the barn.

I still have to do my cover letter as well. Did anyone find any good examples online? I'm not sure how much to put in it.

Does it really matter if you go by the date the USCIS recieves your AOS packet in the mail or by the NOA1 date to be included in a forum group? It is an open forum afterall.

My wife and I were married on St. Pat's day 2 years ago. We shared our AOS experiences with the May 2008 thread.

Everyone have a pleasant AOS journey.
