For the proposed substitute IV payment coupon, I'd suggest that if the payment doesn't process with the coupon, in the worst case you may have to wait the maximum amount time before NVC will research the missing payment and post it to the case. What would you expect your credit card company to do with a check received with an improper or missing payment coupon? How much longer will this take versus waiting for the bill to arrive in the mail and thensending it and waiting the normal processing time? Probably near-equivilant in the end, but nobody can make any promises of course.

Yes, what he said

I agree and in case anyone misunderstood me I in no way meant to imply that James's shortcuts version of cover sheets isn't 'good enough'. They are and they are accepted and I have used them myself.

The new RFE checklist sheet Chris made today - would I use it - yes I would. But everyone has to make that decision for themselves.

True! Just a URL so you can go and fetch it yourself.

For Canada you get 5 pages.

- Cover Sheet

- 2 pages describing which documents they want you to send to NVC

- 2 pages specific to the Montreal Consulate (who can interview there, what you need to prove your status in Canada etc.)

Hey, I just got the second IV Fee Bill I requested. Shall I scan it in and post it in case anyone's interested in seeing it?

Actually, since it is a replacement, I'd like to see it, just to see if it looks the same as the original. We don't get to see replacement IV bills every day.... If there is an opportunity to create a safer IV bill shortcut from this information, I think we should pursue it.

Indeed, I am also curious to know if the serial # might happen to be more like NVC's bank account number and the same for everyone... What is the serial number next to the case number below the very bottom barcode?

I have an extra IV bill sheet also because the day after I called to request another IV bill, I received the original bill. Both bills look alike. The number at the bottom was the same for mine. I'll try and remember to bring it in and post the number tomorrow. If it is the same number....for everyone...that would be super.

I was trying to figure out how/if the extra number was generated from the case number. So far, the only thing I've noticed is that the first 3 numbers in that "extra" part are the same as the last 3 numbers of my case number. Can anyone else confirm this?

Really, both the original and the duplicate had the exact same extended number in the bottom barcode? Geist was generous enough to post her extended number her, I'm going to check hers against my bill tonight.

I have to look at mine, it is easy to see patterns when you are looking for them and have just one example! I'm more concerned the number will turn out to be a visa # or the alien A#, which will be revealed again only later in the process, but I'm on the lookout for it you can count on that! If we can at least learn what it is used for, we'll have a better chance at trying to find it out earlier in the process.

My biggest concern is that it would be a transaction number--like the a year long running number of how many IV bills they've sent out...that would be nearly impossible for us to predict. Or a random number.

Geist is probably right. It might cost us more waiting time with NVC, but if we have more information, then it will probably be a good thing. ;)

Funny, I thought that's what the case number was... :)

My plan is not to give the number, or give all 0's for it, unless we know for sure what it is, and see if NVC really needs it to process the payment.

Mine got RFE also.. :crying: same with u jyz.. Did ur Husband already received the DS230 that was checked by NVC? The reason i got RFE is my entry in #2 NVC said that i need to put all my names including initial.. i already put there my complete maiden name but thr still asking to include the initials in maiden name .. i think this is common since for them(NVC) it understood...

#20 i forgot to include the date whn i was 16 thinking whn i fill in the form that i'm already 16 whn im in college and

#22 they want that i include the date whn i was not working.. NVC is funny since what instructed thr is to list all the job for the past 10 years meaning if ur still not working u will in the year 1997 u will not iclude it :blink:

I think the only mistake i got here is #20 all the rest are not and common sence on part of NVC..:huh:

Good luck to us.. I hope and PRAy that this will end soon..

hi Meg and Rina!

hmm.. looks like i have to sleep more and earlier than i usually do to have the 29th day sept come and have my hubby call NVC to check the status of the my DS230....

it's already the 2nd time we submitted it to them, the second along with the civil docs already.. but the first time i was RFE'd, what they noticed is just a blank space in #6 and 2-province field..

just yesterday, i read a thread about answering Q#2: other names used ( if married give maiden name)....

stupid me (hahaha) i didn't write in my maiden name and just put in N/A.. NVC didn't care about it and didn't mark it w/ red pen upon returning it back to us..

im hanginng now.... just like what Rina told me - hope i get a more lenient checker this time...

my hubby jay and i were not calling NVC yet.. we'll wait for the 29th of sept.... hahaha

il say a prayer for us girls.. (L) the tiniest thing i can do that brings wonderful effect.. :)

il update you guys, and keep me posted as well...

thanks!

Hi Ness,

I think the part for number 22 is very strange. We didn't include dates when he wasn't working.

Did anyone else?

yeah, trailmix is right. In my ds230, i got RFE'd because of #2 and # 20. In number 2, i put my complete maiden name, but NVC encircled it saying its wrong entry because They(nvc )said that i have to put my married name. Its because i applied for my passport after i got married. If you have applied for your passport before you got married, you have to encode your maiden name in #2.

Be very carefule in #20.That's also the reason of my RFE

I dont think you did somthing wong in #22.There was even a gap in the time i've been working.and i wasnt RFE'd for the #22 I thought it was not a big deal. But anyway, you have to follow what they wanted you to do. Pray that the one reviewing your case may have the big heart to approve your case soon. RFE is really a nuisance. Good Luck!

Yeah, I can completely see how they would get an RFE for the name etc (I'm sorry you did though ness).

What I am saying though is that I don't understand them asking you to put days you were not working in the employment history section....very weird.

Okay I'm working on getting a good scan. The numbers after the case number on the bill are -019582681

Well, no such luck, my IV bill's extended number is different!

Your original bill was dated Sunday, July 22, 2007, correct? What is the date on the duplicate bill?

My bill is dated Sun., August 26, 2007 and my extended number is -019740498

Subtracting the two numbers, the difference is 157,817, if that means anything. I highly doubt that many IV bills were generated in just one month, although I could believe that many notices of all types. Nevertheless, it does appear to indeed by a sequence number of some kind.

I don't think we're going to be able to crack this, the best we can do is omit it.

We need one of those programs like they have in every movie where there is a code involved, where the nerd-ish type guy sits in front of a computer while green numbers zip by until it say MATCH.

Anyone here have one of those programs?

Looks like it is an incrementing serial from what Geist gave us and my own number. The extended number on all of the bills right now seem to begin with -019, no relationship to the case number anywhere it would appear.
