Personally I think the whole thing is ridiculous – firstly making a hoo-ha over a tree, and secondly magnifying the ridiculousness by giving undue prominence to it in the news – and indeed using this sort of thing to make all sorts of silly arguments about PC society.

Its all very petty IMO.

Sometimes I wonder if these things aren't "inside jobs" fabricated so that certain people can have their rants about political correctness.

My thoughts exactly. The person who supposedly complained is anonymous except that they were identified as Jewish.

Screw it. Seriously, if they're going to put up a Christmas tree, they might as well put up a large menorah. It's only fair.

That said, Christmas is a stolen holiday, anyway. I'd prefer a shaman climbing down my chimney, anyway.

Look at it like this, it's called a CHRISTMAS tree. Christmas is a christian holiday. So, a Christmas tree is inherently Christian. Thus you are putting christianity into a public building, which is illegal. It's very simple.

Would you be happy if you walked into your local courthouse and found a 20 foot high pentagram in the lobby? Or a large egyptian statue with an erect #######? I highly doubt it. So, if I can't put a pentagram there, you shouldn't be able to put christian symbols.

That would be awesome, if a bit distracting.

It could be useful as a hat rack as well.

The Egyptian statue sounds great too.

And many people call the Christmas Tree the Yule tree. Not everyone who has a tree is Christian, nor do they also assume the tree symbolizes Christianity.

Despite this being a Christian country. If i went to live in Saudi Arabia I would accept all there religious holiday as I am living in a Muslin country.

I think a Christmas tree is more on par with the Easter bunny in terms of its association (or lack thereof) with Christian beliefs.

I hate to burst this bubble for you, but this is NOT a Christian country. Believe me, if it was, I would have left as soon as possible.

That's because, as I said before, it's a stolen holiday. Go read about psychadelic christmas and the roots of this wonderful monotheistic holiday.

Valid point indeed. It's more of a celebration of the season to me (Winter) rather than anything else.

Well 80% of Americans declare themselves to be Christian, and doesn't all the money have "GOD bless America". Christianity is the official religion of America. So i don't see how it isn't.
