Hi

Based upon the NVC flowchart, i seems that the next form we should expect is the DS-3032 ( Agent of Choice) , i googled it and found a link to it at http://www.state.gov/m/a/dir/forms/

Two Questions,

1) The form seems to have an error, in that when u type in the LAST name it fills the same in the country field of the second option, does anyone have another link

2) What r most persons using, Shortcuts, Email and how much time does one save on this step.

Thanks

I had my wife email in the information.

Many people have their wife fill in the form ahead of time, and then they just mail it in as soon as NVC says it is ready for the form.

Time saved depends on the mail system to your wife's country.

Worst case, NVC mails the blank form to your wife, and your wife mails it back by regular post. For me this would take almost a month.

If you have the form ready to go, you can reduce this to 1 day for you to mail it in.

So, I can't tell you what it saves, it depends on how long mail takes to get to and from your wife.

You should take care of this choice of agent by email. The beneficiary/foreign alien spouse (whoever in your case) should email NVC with the case number and request NVC to appoint the US Citizen Petitioner as the choice of agent. This would save time in mailings from/to NVC to/From petitioner, as mailing time from US to foreign country takes longer. The beneficiary can only email NVC as soon as Choice of agent and AOS Fee Bill are generated (They are generated at the same time). The beneficiary should mention his/her date of birth, petitioner's date of birth, full mailing address (so that NVC can start mailing paperwork). You should go to NVC forum and read about James' shortcut to get familiarized with.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

I was one that did not use the email when submitting my DS3032. I had my husband sign the one I filled out for him, which I scanned and he downloaded, and then sent it to me via FedEx. Yes, I did realize that when I had to type everything and see that the last name was the same as the country. Need not to worry at all, just use wipe it out and just write the country name.

Good luck!

Back in July, the NVC was taking approximately the same time to respond to Choice of Agent emails as it did if you had sent your pre-prepared Choice of Agent form the day it was generated.

It may still be the same, but either email or using James's Shortcut for this step will save you an extra 2 weeks of waiting.

Good luck! :)
