What criteria do they use to determine the need for an interview?

If you live in California, are all the AOS transferred to the California Service Center?

Of those transferred, what percentage are scheduled for interview versus no interview?

I don't think those stats are tracked on VJ, you might have to do some research using the stats in the Immigration Timelines link

Yesterday I received an I-797 Notice Of Action, which starts with "Welcome To The United States Of America".

It goes on to state that the application to adjust permanent status has been approved. Further down it states that they will soon mail out a new Permanent Resident Card which we should recieve in 3 weeks.

However, we never went through an interview, just the biometrics. I did a search and haven't seen any new threads on this subject for almost two years (perhaps I didn't look hard enough?) Do we really not have to go through the interview now?

It's not a fluke, because I recieved the same letter for my wifes son (K-2). We filed around the last week of July, before the rate increase took place - could the flood of applicants have anything to do with that? Very odd - of course, I am not complaining in the least!

Anyone else have any experiences like this?

Congrats...same thing happened to us.

I am very surprised that we got the GC so quickly, and with no interview. I thought that when it got trasfered to CSC back in Sept we would have to wait at least 6-12 months b/c of the back log but to our delight we were approved in a couple months without interview!!!!!

There's not much about this in the Guides; it's as if an interview for the GC is always required, but clearly a small percentage of folks are approved with out interviews and getting transfered to CSC (which in any other case would be one's worth nightmare) seems to be the way to make it happen!

Hello Friends,

We got the letter saying that our papers transfered to California center. After a week we got an email saying our case status is "pending". This is the same message we see online, when checking our AOS status. what is this "pending means" did anyone got this? If we going to have an interview how what kind of questions going to be there?. Please help very confused.

Celebrate! Yep, people can get approved without an interview. My husband did.

Most people who are approved without an interview have their cases transfered to the California Service Center. They get a letter stating this (usually!) before the actual approval. If you search in VJ for "CSC Transfer" You will find lots of other people who were approved without an interview.

Did you miss something? Yup, all the threads about CSC transfers and the subsequent approvals without interviews! j/k Congrats anyway, now you can relax for a little while.
