Where do you go for biometrics? does it necesarily have to be nr service center in state of residence? or can we go anywhere in US? and do i need separate scheds for EAD and AOS biometrics?

DON & SADIE

our story, basically (from Celine Dion's song:

Don't know much about your life.

Don't know much about your world, but

Don't want to be alone tonight,

On this planet they call earth.

You don't know about my past, and

I don't have a future figured out.

And maybe this is going too fast.

And maybe it's not meant to last,

But what do you say to taking chances,

What do you say to jumping off the edge?

Never knowing if there's solid ground below

Or hand to hold, or hell to pay,

What do you say,

What do you say?

Oh yeah it is love at first sight.

so far, our sweet and short timeline:

10/29 I-130, I-485, I-765 sent

11/06 I-130, I-485 and I-765 touched

11/07 checks cashed

11/09 NOA1 for I-485, I-765 and I-130

11/29 Biometrics

11/18 RFE1

12/18 Mailed response to RFE1

12/21 I-485 touched

01/23 I-765 touched

01/31 EAD card received

now applying for SSN...

to answer your question--NO, you won't necessarily go to the service center in the state of your residence.

by my experience, you will get the notification from USCIS that tells you specifically which office you need to go for biometrics. and the one i went to is closer to me by distance that is not in my state.

Usually they schedule the biometrics at a location that is closest to where you live. Like cutiebanker said, you will be sent a letter stating exactly where to go and what time.

Usually EAD and AOS biometrics are done together, but not always. Look carefully on the notice they send you, they will specify whether it is for both or only one.

USCIS will send you the appointment letter(s) and will specify the location of where you have to go.

I had 2 different Biometric appointments scheduled- one for EAD and one for AOS. I brought both appointment letters to my first appointment and they had no problem doing it all at the same time.

Biometrics are done at Application Support Centers (ASC). You can go to the USCIS website and do a zip code search for the nearest center located to you.

YMMV

You will receive a biometrics appointment letter for your EAD and AOS, the location and time are stated there. Though, sometimes the schedule for EAD and AOS biometrics are not the same, you only need one biometrics for both, just bring both appointment letters.

ooops spidergirl... I've done my AOS BIOMETRICS 9/11/07 and I applied for my EAD 10/2/07 all I know is code 3 is all in one , but USCIS send me again biometrics code2 saying that I have to take the code 2 biometrics for the same location. But I am still confused with this. But I will still go to take code2 I think there is no harm on doing it again..right?

MSC will send you an appointment letter with the address of the ASC address. Claudeth did both her EAD and AOS at the same place but not at the same time

Biometrics for AOS and biometrics for NOA are different. Too bad that they did not schedule you at the same time or you did not get the appointment letters at the same time, you could have had both done at once.

Anyway, yes, you need to go for your EAD biometrics or your EAD will be delayed or, worse, disapproved.
