I'm fairly new to the site, I joined after my attorney told me to read the front page of the Washington Post a few days ago. I'm glad I did, this site gave me new hope, it introduced me to people who understand what I am going through, and showed me that I am not alone, I'm not the only one waiting...

I made it a point to see my finace once a month since we have been engaged. Unfortunately for the month of November it isn't possible due to financial reasons. Her and I spoke about it last night and it broke her to pieces. She understood, but never the less feelings prevailed and both her and I are a mess. I'm not really sure what I'm writing here, I just need to get this out otherwise I think I'll drive myself crazy thinking about it. At any rate, we are towards the end of the approval process on the US side, I can feel it, the time line confirms it, and others have already gotten their approvals. But I feel so helpless knowing she is over there alone and the one person who can make it all better can't be there for her. I know you all have similar stories, I know that mine isn't anything special. And I know that all of us have an amazing bond to make this work over such long distances over such long periods of time. Today I picked up the phone and finally called USCIS, I received nothing more than an automated reply...I'm not sure what I was expecting, maybe a friendly voice saying "sure, you're been approved we just forgot to update our records..." Silly, I know. Never the less, those crazy ideas keep sneaking up every now and then. I guess my saying "this is really hard" doesn't really cover how I feel right now. I just keep focusing on the fact that it will be over soon, and that the longest delay, ironically enough, is here in the States. I think through all this the both of us are finding out just how strong our love really is for one another, because through everything we've been through the only thing we were always certain of was that. I wish everyone the best of luck, THE BEST OF LUCK! in getting their approvals quickly, I hope that someone at VSC or CSC will begin to understand the implications of their actions on peoples lives...I hope...

It's a long and frustrating process. But, it can be done. Just hang in there.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

I'm not sure I look back and laugh at it all yet. I do look back and wonder why I thought it was taking so long cause the days just fly by now it seems. After all that fussing, he's now been with me over 16 months that just flew by.

I'll let you know once we get through removal of conditions and naturalization if I'm laughing by then.

don't worry sweetie, i haven't seen my fiance in four and a half months, and it'll be another month and a half before i get to do so...you just have to be strong for eachother and when she gets upset, remind her that you're in this together

its been very hard for us too, but i know that it will just make the end result that much sweeter =)

we are so lucky to have someone that loves us and is willing to pack their bags and leave their past life behind them...never forget that

this too shall pass, but until then...just know that you're not alone in this

You're lucky to have seen her as much as you have. Hang in there, it'll be over soon. (F)

I'm not going to say anything about the OP's situation or how they feel in a negative light, but I too wish I could see and be with my girl once a month. We're at 4 months as well and with work and schedules I may not see her for many months more. Once a month or even once every two months would be a blessing for me and I wish I had that type of situation.

The OP should keep in mind several things.

1) They will be together real soon. Far sooner than many of us here.

2) Once you are together you do a 180. You'll be together 24/7, so may as well spend the time now with family, friends, and people you won't see often after you are reunited.

3) Love is a chemical reaction with proven neurotransmitters, hormones, and chemical changes and reactions. That crazy feeling of desire, intense bonding, etc., is great and what many people attribute to love, however long term marriages and the evolution of love and true compatibility is what keeps people together.

I really enjoyed your heartfelt post. It is so hard when you're apart. The phone, the computer...gosh, it's hard to cut it sometimes! Please encourage Sasha to come join VJ. I hope she does. Both of you can find some support here that might help you in your journey.

Best wishes for a speedy journey.

Hi Masik,

I know what you are going through, i went through it with my now husband of a year. It took us quite a long while waiting for the NOA2, almost a year for the whole process. I have been in the USA for over a year now and as yet i can't say i look back and laugh, but i can say i look back and thank god i went through it all the RIGHT WAY. We are a very happy wed couple of soul mates now with a baby on the way. Please just know your time WILL come.

Take care, I don't normally write on these types of posts but your finance sounded like how i used to feel when i could not see my husband.
