Hi again.

Thanks for all the help so far,

lat night was going through all all the guidance and forms with the missus. She mentioned that on her Birth certificate is says Pacific islander/American...she was born in Hawaii to a hawaiin mother and american father...

does this change anything? i mean she is still american right? when it asks for nationality on the forms, do i put american or pcific islander?

has anyone had any experience with this?

Kind Regards

Russell

Well, the last time I heard anyone born to an American citizen in the United States is in fact a citizen. Hawaii is still a part of the United States as well...sounds to me like she is a citizen of the United States.

Hawaiians are American citizens, aren't they? That would make her mother American as well.

It surely just says that on her birth certificate because that's her ethnicity, which is, as you know, entirely different from citizenship.

I doubt any of us were alive when a Hawaii born person was not a Citizen of the US. There's a difference between being part of the US and being a US State. Puerto Ricans and Guamanians are US Citizens too.

Nationality is USA or American. Ethnicity or Race is Pacific Islander/American.

However, Hawaii has been a US territory since the end of the 19th century. By virtue of that, Hawaiian-born people have legally been US citizens since then.
