It's your call on whether it's more of a hassle to keep your maid of honor or more of a pain to tell her she's out.

My opinion, your wedding is YOUR day. It is about the two of you connecting in the deepest way possible. So many couples feel pressured to please every one but themselves on THEIR day. If your maid of honour stands to lessen YOUR day, don't let it happen. Pick someone that will enhance your day and make it memorable. You the right to be selfish on your day!

I chose her over the highschool one because I figured she was local (Toronto) and that would work for everyone involved.. My highschool friend however was (and still is) in Ottawa! It would be virtually impossible to do things together related to wedding stuff often.. We're both broke and travelling back and forth between the cities wouldn't have been do-able frequently..

And my highschool friend knows about all this.. she knows I'm having a difficult time with my MOH and knows now (she's a smart cookie) that I regret the decision and figured out that I want to switch things up..

She asked me yesterday and I bowed my head in shame.. and she made a joke out of the whole thing.. and doesn't feel slightest in the least.

Then that, my dear, is the mark of a true friend. :) I hope you get this situation resolved soon. *hug*

 I know.. I'll let you know what happens when I *can* finally talk to my MOH..

She's just really busy to coordinate anything with...

We have tentative plans for next Saturday (the 13th)

And she called me an hour ago and asked me if she'll be expected to actually try on dresses tomorrow..

and I said yes..

and then she said "do I really have to? Can't I just look at them and decide if I like them?"

"No,.... you have to try them on cuz I have to see how you look in them."

"Sigh... I have to shave my legs then........ You sure we can't do this without me trying them on? "

Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to have a "heart to heart" with this girl. Best to get it done and over with rather than continue on and have your special day marred with the memories of how unhappy you were with your MOH. Hugs...I'll be thinking of you. (F)

Well blah Liz, I didn't see this post originally. There may be another way out of this - it kind of sounds to me like she doesn't actually want to do this at all (no reflection on you, she just may be one of those people that isn't in to this kind of stuff), maybe she is having a hard time wiggling out of it, not knowing how to broach it?

You could try giving her an out, telling her that you feel maybe she isn't really in to this and you COMPLETELY understand, no hard feelings etc etc - would she would prefer that you ask - <real friend> - in Ottawa as you know she would really like to do it etc etc?
