My wife came to the U.S. on a K-1 Visa...At the time we file our K-1 application we listed her 6 year old daughter. We did not pay for her itnerview because we were planning on brining her to the states at a later date. When we were at our interview at the bogota embassy, the cosulate told us that we had 1 year from date of our interview to get her dauughter an interview and visa under the same paperwork process,.,...Does anyone have any info on this process?

thanks

I thought all K2 holders must go with the K1 holder to the interview also if they are coming later? My son will also follow at a later time, dont i have to take him with me to the interview?

Don't know if K1/K2 are the same requirements as K3/K4, but Rin had her interview in April and the children did not go. We have now (last week) sent in packet 3 to Bangkok Embassy and have K4 interviews scheduled next week. So, at least in Bangkok, children do not have to go to the K1 or K3 interview if they will "follow-to-join" later.

Oh Lord! This whole Visa thing is confusing. I read somewhere that the chlidren who are following has to go to the interview as well.

HEEEELP!!!! Is there any body else who went through the same thing????

You wrote that you have now sent in pack 3? How come that you have sent it in, is it the embassy that will do that?

Sorry but im a little confused right now:-(

In order to end your confusion, you'll need to suspend your disbelief.

The children have the right to apply for a derivitive K visa up to one year after their parent's visa is granted. They have this right whether they send back their packet 3 with the parent or not.

Yes, the Consulate sends OUT the P3 but the applicant sends it back when they please. If the children are planning to come within six months for K2 (or two years for K4) of the parent's interview, they might as well all process together. They don't have to travel together. They have six months from visa issue to enter the US for K2. K3 has two years to enter.

Right, nobody gets an interview appointment letter without sending back the P3.
