Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Never used a lawyer....i did all the paperwork for my hubby (petitioner) mailed it off to him, wasted 7 days gettin to him!! when he filed for the K-3 on my behalf, if it was left to him i would still be sittin in Scotland to this day!! When all the paperwork on the U.S. side was done, my job was done on that side of the pond, waiting for it to begin on my own side!

he hadn't a clue :bonk:

I found out last week that a woman I work with is going to pay a lawyer $5000 to do her husband's immigration paperwork. He is here on a work visa and they got married a few weeks ago. I asked her what kind of visa they have to get in that situation and she didn't know. I came home that day to find out the answer because I was curious and saw they would be doing Adjustment of Status. I don't know how complicated AOS is, but for $5000 plus the fees on top of it  I did tell her about VJ, but she just isn't comfortable filling out the forms herself. I feel so bad for her.

Aos isnt difficult at all, but then again he came over on a work visa and there may be more to it as opossed to the k-1 visa. either way i didnt think AOS was difficult enough to get a lawyer and pay THAT much. Unless they have a real complicated case.

I think it's going to be a bit complicated for her b/c as I talked to her today, I found out his work visa expires this month and the pictures they have taken together with family, etc. during holidays have all been lost b/c they kept them on their camera w/o printing them out and the camera is now occupying space at the bottom of the Lake of the Ozarks. Why they never printed them...I don't know. On top of all that, she is 15 years older than him. He is 36 & she is 51. I just hope her lawyer is very very good and everything goes okay for them.

Filing AOS if he's on a work visa is a piece of cake - H1-B's (I'm assuming that's the one he has) are dual intent, so no issues here. And the fact that she's older shouldn't be a big deal.

Good point, Dean.

I actually looked at the link, and even tried dialing the # (which didn't work).

In the end, I got it done faster (even with an RFE) by filing the K-1 petition without attorney (certainly, even the DHL to respond to the RFE was cheaper than a lawyer would have charged for work I could have done).

Plus, I had already been burned (during my own GC process) by an attorney who didn't know that the Green Card priority dates are by birth nation.
